The problem with Duffer. Jokiharju grabbed an H on the way into the game (kids jersey). But the H not plaguing the Sabres today? Hesitation. Good lord. Even I'm not that obtuse.

I would say good to very good. They did deflate somewhat after an energetic start. To be expected. I don't even care if the Ducks go up 1-0 after that start. At least you're sweating and mentally into the game instead of down a goal and back on your skates, bone dry.

I still remember how confusing and somewhat troubling my first game at the Aud was. Late in 77-78. The honeymoon for the Sabres was ending. The fans were surly toward both the team and especially the ref, Bruce Hood. The Sabres lost 4-2. I didn't see Rick which was one of my hopes. I needed glasses but hadn't gotten them yet. Innocence lost.

I think we need to see if it really stopped. Will we find out today? I would like to know how it all went down. I will add it to my list of Unknowable Sabres Mysteries, up there with why Patty left, did LindyDarcy get golden parachutes, and was it Ted and Mrs. Hasek or Mrs. Nolan and Dom?

If no questions are asked, what can we assume about the media covering the team? This is all Sabres fans are talking about; the story crosses over into general interest and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes national. If anything you cover it to sell papers and increase viewership. To not cover it suggests the media has some interest in protecting the team. Can you think of another reason you don't ask about it?

Cheer. Point to the Sabres bench and say These are Sabres today. Point to SHK NRK RJ and the retired players and say These are Sabres forever.

Media availability today... Over under on salute questions? I'm going with 2 and taking the under. Mike will stand alone. If not did you express your opinion? How will you handle something like this as captain?

I'm guilty of popping into threads and popping off from time to time so I can't be too mad. But a number of people don't seem to grasp the issue here.

I think most of us have forgotten what it's like to be a kid. Or that certain kind of fan who is almost childlike in adoring the players. I'd customize the stick routine and have the players playfully fence with them like sabres. Don't get me started on all the ways the Sabres have not taken full advantage of their namesake lo these many years.

This thread is going to have more posts and views than some games. I'm calling it. I also wouldn't be surprised if someone's going to try and shut er down! Like Gibby saying how much they love Leaf fans, this one will also cut very close to the bone.
