So we scored 9 goals in one game without scoring in the first. Now we scored 7 in a game without scoring in the 2nd. Just once I want to see them put together a full 60 minutes of hockey. That should put them right around 12 goals and that would be a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

I'm not going to read through this thread, so I don't know if this comment was made or not. I'm amazed at how the team won in the same exact way they did against Florida on friday night. The OT powerplay goal had the same 4 players on the ice and it was scored on the same exact play, except this time, Briere's shot got through and Vanek didn't have to pick up the rebound.

Damn.
The rednecks banned me from posting.
Afraid of a little hockey talk I guess. It was funny to see them worried about Sabre fans buying up their tickets
Why do I get the feeling that a lot of people would love to see the same thing happen to you here. :D ;)

Florida was our kryptonite last year, so I'll be paying close attention to this game. Of course, how much of that effect was due to Luongo last year?

Did the crowd look as pathetic on tv as it did live? They couldn't have topped 10K in attendance last night.
Anyway, I'd love to say that I was surprised by the comeback, but I know this team too well now and I fully expected it. After the 4th goal, the Bruins fans started chanting overrated (nevermind the fact that the only rating system in the NHL is total points :wallbash: ). I turned to the group behind me and said "just wait". Unfortunately, those people refused to wait and left at the 10 minute mark. The place emptied out a bit, but not one Sabres fan left, we know better.
Were there any comments on tv about bad ice? Things didn't look right out there at all. Passing was horrible on both sides (far worse for us). Players looked really slow. Hell, even the refs looked slow, getting in the way of so many pucks (reminded me of the 300+ lb ref we have in my men's league who I have nicknamed Koharski).

All the games are up on google video now... I bet I can find it there. Do you know which goal?
One of the Drury goals.
-
Well, what I should look for? (outside of the 29 Sabres jersey)
Perreault hat. That's about it.
Do you have a screen capture?
No, but my brother did tape the game since he couldn't watch it live. They showed me celebrating a goal while wearing my white Perreault jersey, so it was no big deal. They just need to show me again since the team has never lost a game when I appeared on tv.

Just in time for tonight's game, my new Pominville jersey has arrived (love that new jersey smell)! Hopefully I make it on tv during this game like I did at the last Bruins game.

I would like to send out a giant FU to Comcast for the cable outage that made me miss half of the game.

I do not believe so. I am almost always idling in the chat room, including the last two games.

The league doesn't count that in the stats though. It's not the biggest of deals, but what you said earlier is a bit misleading.

Sabres haven't scored less than three goals in any game yet. Pretty good so far.
Well, except for the Detroit and Carolina games, you're right.

I just had this little exchange with a Ranger fan on another board:
Ranger Fan: Chris Drury is hack.
Me: Sorry, I can't hear you. Jagr's crying again.
Ranger Fan: Why, did Drury run another of his teammates after the whistle?
I pray that he's not serious with that last comment. Did he not see what that one jackass did at the end of the game? Wait, who am I kidding? Every Ranger fan turned the game off in the middle of the 2nd.
-
I have to say that I love Briere patting the Ranger player on the head after one of the early Buffalo goals. That was hilarious.
Oh, and how did I read through this thread and not see anything about Drury's second goal? That was nasty. I'll take a few more of those.

My brother just called me from the game. They're wearing the numbers on the front shoulder of the throwback jersies too. There must be some kind of NHL rule behind this.
-
Well, that didn't take very long. They've already gone back to giving me multiple heart attacks in the 3rd period. I'm still riding that emotional high right now, so I can't even think of what to say about that game. I guess it's time to go watch V for Vendetta in honor of Vanek's solid game.
Oh, and I don't think I've ever seen a team score 4 identical goals like Montreal did. Was there even one that didn't deflect of a Sabre directly to the open man?
-
One last one. How do you think the changes to the roster will work out?
I want to take this question one step further. Any idea on what kind of goalie rotation they're going to have? I have to get ready for my fantasy drafts.
-
From those highlights, Ryan looked like he had a strong game. That goal was really nice.
-
He clearly doesn't know what he's doing... ;)
Well, Morrow is a useless stiff.
-
shrader, we also gave up a third round pick to get ole Chris. I don't think it's fair to say Holzinger and Primeau were garbage. Zinger was our second leading scorer one year.
But his numbers were in a steady decline from that point on. You don't generally trade for someone because of some minor accomplishment in the past.
-
Well then don't forget about Steve "we hardly knew ye" Reinprecht...You're right, Ballard would've ben agreat fit here, but I like Drury a lot and sometimes you've gotta give up someone you like to get better.
They got Reinprecht from Colorado for Ballard. He doesn't really count.
PA, I wouldn't say they overpaid for Gratton. Holzinger and Primeau were garbage. Sarich was the only thing of value in that deal, and we couldn't be sure if he was going to develop into an NHL player or not at that point.
-
It gets even better - we got Warrener from Florida along with their 5th round pick, which we used to select Ryan Miller. Darcy should be in jail for getting whats turns out to be Chris Drury and Ryan Miller for an underachieving defenseman.

If you're going to bring Chris Drury into the conversation, you have to remember that we lost Keith Ballard in that deal. Ballard is well on his way to becoming a very solid NHL defenseman who would've been a great fit here.
-
Wasn't wilson parlayed into rhett warrener? Or, did he turn into stu barnes? I can never keep the lopsided trades seperate in my head.
Remember, before we all began to bash darcy, he regularly ROBBED teams blind with trades.
It was Warrener and a 5th round pick (Ryan Miller) for Wilson. I'd say that one worked out pretty well.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Peca deal was a Muckler deal. You're point about Darcy's trades still stands though.
edit: I'm an idiot. PA's post said it was a Muckler deal.

PA - always a font of information. This expatriote had no idea Clip Smith was dearly departed!
My thoughts exactly.

I can't wait to get Lydman back. Even without Talinder, we can roll 6 ice time eaters out there when Toni's back. That's going to make a whole world of difference over rolling 4 guys like we have been lately. Plus, it's pretty obvious that the PK needs those two back. Yeah, Talinder's still out for a while, but a healthy Lydman helps a whole hell of a lot.
