Time to switch to Marty.
-
This would be a great post in any of those thread complaining about Darcy Regier.
-
I chose the right game. BU won the regular season title and now I'm drunk beyond belief. Thank god the sabres won too and thank god some random girl loved my Biron jerseyu.
-
Good, now I can wear the Biron jersey in Boston tonight. I still have to decide whether I'm going to the BU game (already have a ticket) or the Sabres game (don't have a ticket) tonight.
-
If they're serious about getting both goalies some playing time, Biron has to play tonight. I don't expect him to get the start, but its something to think about.
-
I don't care how many people think I'm crazy for wearing my LaFontaine jersey to a college game tomorrow, I have to do it. LaFontaine deserves my support.
-
I miss Pete Peeters. Greatest name of all time.
-
I don't know where else to post it, so I'll say it here. IF the Sabres win tomorrow, they'll be 2 points back of the top seed in the east with a game at hand (no games at hand on Ottawa though).

I miss the Bender avatar. :(

The Habs fans chant that every chance they get, regardless of who is in the net.
Other than it's annoying and it seems to fire them (the fans, not the Habs) up, I don't really know why they chose that as their "chant".
They even have some jazzed up, fast version of that song. It's ridiculous. The only other place I've ever heard that for hockey is at Boston University where the fans use that chant when killing penalties. At least that makes some sense instead of randomly chanting it the entire game.

Hell, earlier this year Drury missed in a shootout and put the puck into the net on the rebound (Rangers game I think). If it was allowed, me might not have lost that game.
-
TSN's coverage includes a video replay - (use bugmenot.com for a login if you don't have one)...
But to answer your question, yep that's the move Vanek made, and the video slows it down enough...
I assumed that was the move. That's the second time I've seen it and its amazing how its so simple, yet effective.

ok ok, shrader 1, corp 0....
i'm just getting excited because the sabres have not been this good at this point in the regular season in like 10 years or something.
I'm excited too, but I think a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves right now. There's a lot of hockey left to be played and there's still the trade deadline. Teams are going to look very different than they do right now.
PA, did Vanek do the move where he circles his stick around the puck and then shoots? I didn't see any replay and it's too quick to see on the live broadcast. I remember him doing that move earlier in the year, but he rang to puck off the post that time.

If the sabres can beat the weekday games of montreal 2x and florida, and find a way to beat the canes, you have to consider them to be the best team in hockey.
The best team in the east, maybe. It'd be tough to justify saying they're better than either Calgary or Vancouver.
-
Corp, you're getting a bit ahead of yourself with that comment. This was an evenly matched game that ended in a shootout. Neither team stood out tonight.
-
Playing 'Born in the USA' after any big saves from Miller is pure genius.
edit: Oh, and it look like Taylor Pyatt is actually a hockey player now. Notice how I didn't use the nickname for him this time.
-
That was one of those games that should've ended in a tie. Neither team played to win. But hey, I'm not complaining.
-
That one punch that Peters actually landed looked like it hurt like hell. McGratton must have a broken nose.
-
Well, winning makes a genius of everyone, so I don't have a leg to stand on in questioning Golisano the least bit. I still say it's too early to make statements like you made. Retaining the management and coaching staff and suppressing payroll was hardly the most inspired plan, but who can argue with success? Actually, if Regier was building this team from 2001 on with the "new NHL" in mind, then of course he deserves the lion's share of credit.
There really is no way of backing up what I said, but I strongly believe that this team would not have lasted more than 5 years if Hammister had taken over. Golisano has provided financial stability that the other group could never have done.
-
Dude, right on! Play the lottery today!
Shouldn't he have played the lottery yesterday?
-
Interesting observation. It's easy to give Golisano a lot of credit for the team's success, but what has he done that Hamister's group wouldn't have done? IMHO it's way too early to say what kind of owner Golisano is going to be.
The key word was could. Anyway, the Hamister group was nothing but trouble. They didn't have the money and weren't they asking for a large state handout? If they had been given the team, I'm willing to bet that the Sabres would've gone the way of the Destroyers. Hamister's group was a death sentence.

Mark Hamister and Todd Berman run out of time to put together a deal to buy the Sabres. "I still think the Buffalo Sabres are important, but I couldn't pull it off," Hamister said. Tom Golisano says he is willing to resume negotiations.
This could very easily go down as the greatest event in Sabres history.

Remember, all Taylor Quiet ever does is score hat tricks. He's good for 2 more tonight.

You've gotta love that effort from Quiet.

He must have saw something he liked from Max tonight. He was out there for a long time during that last shift. My only other thought is that Lindy wanted to give him some of that high pressure ice time to see what he could do.
