  1. I do too - but in the short term we can still make positive changes to address depth scoring. Good points, and your lineup is probably just as likely to succeed as mine. I think it comes down to i'd rather bury Sobotka on the checking line and give ERod a shot in a scoring role given his multiple point game last night, whereas it looks like you have done the exact opposite.
  2. I think the "spread the talent" strategy only works if we acquire a 2C in trade. and for the record, the ? marks above are choosing from the following players: Mitts, Rodrigues, Sobotka, Pommers, Okposo, CJ Smith, Larsson, Girgensons, Elie, ... Rochester callups That doesn't leave Eichel with much talent for the "1st line"
  3. Exactly. Put Vlad with Z and Larry where his scoring suppression helps. Rotate CJ, Okposo and pommers based on who's hot and keeping the vets fresh They just showed a graphic in the post game for the three stars that said 11. Maybe attempted?
  4. Thomson had 11 shots tonight!
  5. I know you're joking, but his low event playstyle would fit well on the checking line with angry Larry
  6. I just posted basically this in the roster thread. I think pommers or okposo are the odd men out based on the above lineup
  7. After tonight, I think he can play the pommers trigger man role on the top line. He doesn't need to carry the play, but he's developed enough this year that he'd be a solid contributor. He had nearly 10 shots tonight ffs
  8. The lines ended up being nowhere near what the morning skate was. Reinhart being healthy shifted every line around Why do they always seem to interview Pilut post game?
  9. After seeing tonight's game, I'm ready to give Samson his own line and see if Skinner/Tage chemistry continues. Let's try this going forward for a bit: Skinner-Eichel-Tage Sheary-Rodrigues-Reinhart Pommer/Smith-Casey-Okposo Girgs-Larsson-Sobotka If we can get two lines rolling as a scoring threat that changes our prospects for this year.
  10. Quoting myself to say Jack Jeff and Tage is the first line. Keep Larsson + Zemgus as the 4th and let the rest of the forwards figure out the last spots
  11. Haven't been following the GDT, but I think we found our new line 2. Sam with Sheary and Rodrigues. They've been fire tonight
  12. I'm just trying to call out that your first post asked for Housley to not break what isn't broken, and then calling for breaking up the only line that is working. That doesn't sound consistent to me. EDIT - nevermind I see that first post was from @pi2000 and not you LGR. Carry on.
  13. What does Bailey have that you feel warrants a callup? In his previous NHL stints I haven't seen anything that demonstrates he's anything more than JAG
  14. Not getting stuck on this particular name, but I think there are a lot of low-cost lottery tickets like this out there that would allow the Sabres to get a possible solution to the center depth/middle 6 issue without hurting the future at all. This route is obviously less certain of a solution, but I think is a good compromise between 'win now' and 'build for 3 years from now'.
  15. Which explains why he has left the highest scoring 1st line we've had in years untouched since game #20... oh wait.
  16. I think it's just they would prefer to have the option for it to be longer than 14 days, and don't want that deadline of having to call him up with no room on the NHL club force them to waiver him then. There's a bigger chance that once he proves healthy a team would take a chance on him than now with 0 games played for the year.
  17. Welp. Let's hope that Sam really is feeling better, so Skinner doesn't have to carry the whole team on his back.
  18. My coworker mentioned this earlier today. Screw the Patriots - there's no way they are bad enough to get the high pick needed to take him.
  19. If so those forward lines are terrifyingly bad. Even with Zemgus rejoining the lineup. We need Jack and Sam desperately.
  20. Yes. In the game I saw it was interesting how the "no body checking" rule actually made the game more physical, as there was a lot more shoulder to shoulder jockeying to maintain/take away the puck. Much harder to get time and space when you can't knock over the opponent.
  21. Welp. Looks like I'm done making GDTs. That was painful to watch. Supposed to be like a playoff game but instead they got outworked since the opening faceoff
  22. Modo has more enthusiasm than every Sabres skater.
  23. Do you think he's available? I mean if that's what it takes to get Sheary going...
  24. Came here to say the same thing. I was checking the football game and caught that play live and in slow mo. Ouch
  25. They were all in the first period This has been the worst period I've seen the Sabres play all season. Oof
