Let's go Bandits! The quest for a 3-Peat has begun
Taro T replied to Big Guava's topic in The Aud Club
Because the 'Cuse game (if it can be called that, they DID score 1st, but not much else has gone right) is still going on, the Bandits game will start out on ESPN News. (and it's on ESPN+ too). (Likely TSN & TSN+ up in Canada.) -
Yes, FLA has no state income tax. What are the homeowners insurance rates? The insurance rates are extremely reasonable in WNY. @LGR4GM, swear this kid hadn't read past @Gatorman0519's post before repyling.

Yes, just 2 in 11 years, but also 2 in 3 (or is it 4?) years. -

Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department
Taro T replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Depends upon whether he can convince the GM (or ownership) to make changes at the coaching level, at the strategic level (what style the coaches should be coaching, and that's one thing that having Ruff behind the bench is good for is that he has run several different styles of play depending upon what players he has), and can he help grease the skids to make a trade or FA signing that the GM on his own would not have been able to make. Where he has more say is over changes to the rest of the hockey departments. My understanding is that pretty much all scouts and development coaches have their contracts expire in June and then they reup or move elsewhere in July. THOSE changes don't help much with the current season, but they do set the stage for potential major moves in-season and beyond. -
Good. Let him quit in disgust and get then get his final TRUE revenge over Lindy Ruff by replacing him as the Sabres HC.
-
Well, 2 things can be true at the same time. The Sabres HAVE been at least $8MM under the cap each of the past 4 seasons (after the Norris trade and injury callups they ended up with "only $6.5+" in space as the season ended, but they started at or extremely near $8MM in space) and courtesy of a $4.44 buyout charge for Skinner this coming season they likely would be hard pressed to sign Marner and ALL (which includes Byram) their RFAs this off-season. But, am pretty certain they aren't bringing Byram back and based on all the noise about Peterka at the trade deadline wouldn't be shocked to see him part of a trade package either. So, it doesn't really matter that they couldn't bring ALL those guys into the fold this coming season. There's not really any intention to be doing so with or without Marner.
-
Well, in fairness to you, after watching the Sabres remain at least $8MM below the cap and sometimes signifcantly lower than that, it's easy to forget that cap space CAN be an asset. (Especially when you plan to use it on a player that might make your team better, it really is a huge asset.)
-
Yes, but those usually are late July / early August. By the time they roll around, Byram will likely have been traded.
-
The $'s remaining in the '25-'26 cap are immaterial to signing a guy like Tuch to a new deal that starts in '26-'27. So, Tuch doesn't matter for that exercise. Really am leaning towards an expectation that they do bring in a vet goalie but with UPL going out the door this off-season as well. So, the goalie won't eat too far into the cap unless someone you find a situation like the Swamp Cats for some reason souring on Bob and being open to trading him; and that sort of move isn't likely to happen. Demko's the most likely established guy that MIGHT become available and he only costs $5MM against the cap in his last season. And, personally expect both Byram and Samuelsson going bye-bye this off-season, so there's money on the backline getting freed up. (Though also personally expect moving Byram to be opening a brand new hole in the lineup.) So, don't expect Bernard-Docker going away and would be mildly surprised if Clifton went away either.

As long as it's after July 1, the Sabres (or any team) could have a contract worked out for a guy with 1 year remaining on his deal prior to, or post, making a trade for the player. (The only exception is for players that have inked a 1 year deal. (You have to wait until January 1 to work out a new follow-on deal for them.) But why a guy who's contract has/will run out on July 1 would be signing a 1 year deal right around the new league year doesn't make a whole lot of sense on 1st glance.)
-
Only problem with the offer sheet in the 2nd round range is the Sabres don't have their 2nd. Went to the Otters in the Cozens/Norris trade.

The mother trucking Loaf fans are NOT Charlie Brown. They're Biff ####ing Tannen. This is the worst meme you have ever used. My 2 cents. -
Why not sign with Buffalo just to #### with the Loaf fans that now hate their "God?" (Yeah, it won't happen. But it would be fun if it did.)

It was.

Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department
Taro T replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
He can. But WILL he. Not nearly as likely. Sadly. -
Agree with most of this, but would still say that Quinn is "a kid" because of all the time he lost 2 seasons ago due to injury. He's barely got more than 2 full seasons in. And am hoping that a lot of his issues last year were from the leg injuries being the sort of things that realistically take 1-1/2 years to recover from. (Yes, am ignoring that he looked reasonably good most of the time he played that year after coming back from each injury and significantly worse last year.)

What's going on Norm? Let's talk about what's going IN Norm.

Then, YES, a RESOUNDING 1000% YES, Adams can still get punted even after the Sabres take the playoff path of the Swamp Cats 2 years ago. (Sneak in because the backup goalie saved the day when the #1 was sick/had issues; and then lose a hard fought final.) -

The ONLY way that happens if is the team is horrible out of the gate, there is a general purge at the end of October and then the team rises like the Phoenix. IF they bring in a PoHO or a "Senior Advisor" and Adams is still standing come Christmas; anything good that happens gets put in the "he finally figured it out" column in ownership's eyes. The FANBASE will give credit where it's due. But WE don't directly write the checks. (We just bankroll them.) -
And the Sabres voluntarily sent O'Reilly, Eichel, Reinhart, and Montour (among others) packing.

Dahlin was MEAN at the WJCs. All he needed to be that way in the NHL was some strength. Which he now has.

This thread is about watching Biff Tannen get the manure bath. Why does it have to be about anything more than that? -
IF they'd unload Marty Wilford maybe they only need to unload 1 or 2 of the D. Unload Seth Appert too and bring in somebody that knows what a PP looks like and they might have enough goals to not need to unload any of the D should they actually fix G too.
