There is a difference between playing bad and quitting. That team was bad tonight, but it was not Boston or Dallas level quitting. Filly easily could've had 2 more goals if the team had quit. Dahlin and Mitts both made hard plays to break up nearly certain goals in the 3rd. That team was playing very individualistically after they fell behind, and that is not winning hockey. At all. But it is FAR different than quitting.

Didn't cha know, that's the way you're supposed to identify the aliens. ;)

The 10 NHL game thing to prevent a contract from sliding is only for 18 & 19 year olds.
-
Do they consciously get deflated when Anderson gives up a goal 1 minute into a game they should win, no. Subconsciously, it sure does seem to effect them more than when UPL gives up a bad goal. Really doubt we see Anderson play btb games (even w/ 1 day inbetween) and doubt that they want to put Levi in against Boston for his 1st start (but maybe they will). Given those caveats, definitely want UPL between the pipes tonight.

Now you've gone and done it. @DarthEbriate he was only covering for you! ;)

Good call.

You honestly don't believe that giving up a bad goal right off the bat didn't contribute to the team playing flat? And because the team expects him to give them their best chance of winning, do believe that those bad goals did alter the course of the game. They know UPL is going to give up a bad one here or there. They're ready for it. They're young and for being young they actually do a good job of not getting too low or high as the game flows, but it can set them back when something just goes wrong. Anderson is on a pitch count. They're down to 2 goalies (for a couple more days). Please don't waste Anderson in a game UPL should be good enough to take care of business.

Nashville or Joisey. Wouldn't stick him in for his very 1st game against the Bruins unless he really wants that game.
-
Why do you expect him to sign today rather than Sunday/Monday? Nothing is different today relative to the past 5 days, but there is a difference after the weekend.

Otters Phlyers Blackhawks BJs 4 games against teams that were struggling when they played the Sabres this calendar year that they put Anderson between the pipes to "guarantee" the win. Out of those 8 points, they came away with 1. Andy gave up a goal 1st minute vs Otters, 2nd minute vs Phlyers, gave up a goal 1st minute of the 3rd to give the Hawks life, & gave up 2 bad goals en route to being down 4-1 heading into the 3rd. For the love of all that is good and Holy, please play UPL tonight and Andy vs the B's. They can't afford another "guaranteed" win tonight.

He still bleeds Sabres blue. ;)

That really sucks. Really hope the way you kept yourself in good shape prior to this helps keep that window you need for the best results open long enough that your treatment is effective. Totally get what you're saying about the state of health care in this country. Have seen stuff 1st hand that's extremely frustrating. Keep advocating for yourself and make sure stuff that needs to get done, does. Good thing you picked the career path you did. (Though maybe that time spent as an ob-gyn isn't as helpful as some other practice might have been. ;) ) Best of luck with it. Will say a prayer for you.

Let's Make a Deal (Suggestions for K.A. for 2023)
Taro T replied to PerreaultForever's topic in The Aud Club
Jokiharju and Power have both been playing their best hockey of the season since this last losing streak ended. Power had been looking gassed but seems to have a 2nd wind. As @dudacek loves to point out, Henri could be a 4. Personally don't believe he is a 4 but absolutely he could become 1. Either way, still want a 4 brought in and if they turn out to have 5 guys that legitimately are top 4 guys, well it becomes a lot easier to have Bryson or Clague in the lineup when you're down 2 D-men provided one of those 2 that's out is Stillman or Lyubushkin. -
He has a very legitimate excuse not to sign prior to Sunday evening. If we get past Monday lunchtime and he isn't signed, then there is an indecisiveness. But right now, should the team make the dance, without Levi they are toast. The 2 forwards that left, will certainly hurt their chances but it won't doom them. (Thought it's likely moot anyhow. Doubt they get into the NCAAs.)

It was a bad penalty to take.

Yeah, had misread that Florida Sabres tiebreaker myself; he might've done likewise. But the Sabres do play them again, so win the game in hand and win the head to head game and then play as well or better than the Cats do the rest of the way (those other 14 remaining games) and the Sabres hold their own destiny again.

GDT: Buffalo Sabres @ Washington Capitals 3/15/23 7 pm tv and radio

Really believe it's as simple as with Dahlin playing through some sort of injury(injuries?) that they're planning on relying on Power - Jokiharju as the primary pair (like they did in TO) and Dahlin typically plays more effectively when shackled by Bryson than by Clague. Expect if they were going to primarily pair Dahlin and Joker that Clague would be in. His best version of passing the eyeball test has been when he's out on the ice with Power. -

Either Granato decided the photos weren't as damaging as he initially believed or somebody got them back for him. -
Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?
Taro T replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
Yes it is. And you're correct, the Swamp Cats would hold the tie-breaker on the Sabres. Was looking at the total wins column, not the RW column. D'oh! -

If the Sabres win of that game they have in hand is in regulation they get the tie breaker. Had said that in another post. Didn't add that caveat to the one you quoted. Sorry. -
As said when replying to John, discount it if you'd like, personally am not going to do so. And this ISN'T a slight on Dahlin. It's an attaboy for Tuch.
-
They've been beat before under Granato, and surely will again. But the hallmark of his time (at least beyond the spring of '20) was that the team has played hard to the end of every game. That wasn't the case in exactly 2 games during the past 2 seasons. Discount it if you'd like, but personally am not discounting it.

Still a lot of time to get back into the spot he was just 3 weeks ago. IF he can get past whatever it is that's limiting him.
-
Still like his chances to be a finalist. He just has to get past whatever injury is cutting down his effectiveness as the game wears on. He still looks great in the 1st period of games but seems to wear down by the end with his heavy usage.

That's cool. Can name all of them in the Adams without hesitation. 3 in the Patrick and 1 in the Norris likewise. And after a 1/2 second came up with one in the Smythe as well. (A really obvious one at that.) Could probably get to 1/2 the league in a few minutes and that's with not having watched any other NHL teams regularly prior to the ASB for about 4 years now.
