And yet, we DID take that step backwards. The consensus on whether it would happen or not is not relevant. Average out our point total from over the course of 4 seasons, then, if you prefer.

Obviously I can’t make a strong case about results given where we are today, other than point out how much better last year was. It did happen. It was real. It did happen on his watch. Neither pointing out where we are today, nor averaging four seasons tell the complete story and you know that.

Regardless, the topic is about whether he is serious about winning. I know you have massive disagreements with him and I’m not arguing those points. But just because you or anyone else disagrees with his approach, doesn’t mean he isn’t serious. He could be wrong. He could be incompetent. But as I said before, and you disagreed with, disparaging his intentions is just cheap shot fan straw-man fodder.

The Sabres finished 25th place in the league when Botterill was fired. 4 years later, Kevyn Adams has the Sabres sitting…in 26th place.

    What a plan.

It’s not whining - your standards are quite *literally* non existent. You can grant him the absurdly long list of caveats you went out of your way to laboriously detail and he STILL will have done an objectively terrible job.

    We’ve done nothing.

You know that’s not entirely fair when last year they were one point away from the playoffs. I’m not sure the consensus on the team was that we were going to take this large of a step backwards.

Is that your macro view of the franchise under Pegula?

No. We’re going to keep this focused on your silliness. Please state the number of times in professional sports history that a commissioner has urged the selling of a franchise and under what circumstances that occurred. Compare and contrast that with the Sabres situation.

    Bettman anyone?

As frustrated as you may be as a fan, just how bad do you think this franchise is in the macroscopic view? Last year the team was one point away from making the playoffs. We’ve shut out Colorado, beaten the Bruins, Rangers, and Vegas. And your suggestion is that the league commissioner should convince an owner to sell the team? C’mon.

You're off base here. GMs in sports sometimes aren't serious about winning in the short term. That looks to be KA. If it's not KA, he is near incompetent.

If I was off base, then you wouldn’t need to qualify the premise with “in the short term.”

Kevyn himself has stated he’s building something for the long-term that may not be the best in the short term, whether you agree with this approach or not.

  8. Why do we have the question his motivation? Can people just disagree without assuming the worst in them?

The GM isn’t serious about winning. The players don’t care about Buffalo. The players don’t care about the fans.

it’s all just projecting a negative attribute on them to give ourselves permission to go off on them. Because if you’re not serious about winning, or you don’t care about us, then I have every right to rip into you.

Once again, the response was not about the hit.  It was to send a message to the league that the Sabres will not just going to take it anymore.

EJ even stated that after the game.

As someone who has stated that it was a clean hit to my eyes, I think responding to a clean hit is a ridiculous thing to do. What’s next? Running players who take slapshots?

What was the result of the message? The Sabres are going to give up a PowerPlay, be down players for significant time and still lose the game? Oh no. Look out everyone. We’re sending messages! Don’t hit our players shoulder to shoulder in the boards or you just might win the game!

The response was correct.  The Sabres have been known as a team of pussies since the Lucic-Miller hit.  You don’t let the ref police for your team.  They won’t do it.  Every team in the league would object to that hit.

Johnson was in a vulnerable position.  The hit was late and unnecessary since the puck was gone, Johnson was far enough from the boards for this to be boarding, the one leg in the air had dangerous look in real time. The ref was there and did nothing.  EJ responded and took on a big guy.  Thats the way I want this team playing.  The way winning teams do.

This hit was worse than the one Eric Robinson made when he tried to stop and boarded a player with the puck.  For that he got a five, a ten, and a game.  There is no consistency in the NHL.

Disagree with all of this, as did the ref who was on the ice looking at it.

Suspect, but clean in the sense that no penalty was called.

That is not the point.  The hit was behind the play and late and Little Johnson was in a vulnerable position.  A vet sent a message to the Rangers and the league that the Sabres will not put up with stuff.  It also sent a message to the Sabres players, coaches, GM and fans, which is more important.

I am super sorry to respond to the actual words that you used, but then you tell me it’s not the point. I literally responded to every word in this message, but I get that’s not the point. Great talk. 🙄

I don’t know what world we live in if this is not a clean hockey hit. Shoulder to shoulder, hit against the boards, left foot on the ice, stick down, puck just passed him and was maybe 4 feet away from him.

I thought the response was dumb, because no response was needed. That hit ranked 5/10.

None of which currently equal our level of futility, no?

I think a very good argument can be made that we can equal all of these.

    You should define your argument.

Worst is pretty vague. I can give you a multitude of scenarios of a franchise being worse with a shorter playoff drought, yet still be worse. But if that is your only figure of merit - then it is the NY Jets.

Colorado Rockies, literally bribed the Cardinals to take their best player.

Detroit Pistons are on a 25 game losing streak.

Oakland As are getting moved after 20 years of getting cheaper every year.

The NY Jets have just as long of a playoff drought as well as a literal loon at QB.

Arizona Coyotes who lack a legit stadium and have multiple times got into hot water over not paying staff and/or players.

Pittsburgh Pirates are just too cheap to get anywhere.

The Indianapolis Colts owner is literally bonkers

The KC Royals have the worst record in baseball since 2007 and have been terrible in all but 2 years in which they won and lost a World Series strangely enough. Also super cheap ownership.

I could probably think of more but I’m tired of listing already. And that doesn’t even include European franchises.

    Washington Wizards.

What you say is valid, but also, how many times has this already happened in the past? This isn't the first season where Dahlin has heard those "crazy" boos. How many wake up calls does he need? How much growing up does he need? That sort of comment might fit for a guy like Benson. Maybe even a Peterka or a Quinn but this isn't the first time for most of this crew.

It sounds hollow to me and sounds similar to white privilege/Karen complaints in society. Sure, the fans are "crazy".

You might want to remember he isn’t American.
