  1. Past hour
  2. Worse than the Coyotes imo. Maybe worst in all of pro sports (although the Jets are in the running). The whole approach has been wrong since Pegula got here and this coddling of players to get them to want to here is backasswards.
  3. Boston does not have a McKinnon. Or a McDavid. Or a Burgeron ....
  4. Speaking of, aren't him and Donnie due for another extension?
  5. I've pointed to this Nashville comparison a few times already. It's glaring in terms of contrast. There are other examples of high standards. Montgomery in Boston had his number one team in the division doing wind sprints the other day because they lost 2 games in a row and looked "not playoff ready". Torts benched his captain. Team woke up. Buffalo? It's a day spa.
  6. Of course they like him. He doesn't make them work and doesn't hold them accountable. What's not to like if you're a floater? Granato is one of the worst coaches currently employed in the NHL. Continuing with him is absurd. He has done nothing to justify that. We are underperforming to the level of talent on the roster.
  7. So according to you, losing the team is fine as long as they win. Well let me inform you that losing the team is the biggest loss you can possibly have.
  8. When were they "real good" this year? You mean that one game against the Leafs?
  9. and yet studies on happiness show that Canadians are happier than Americans and those Scandinavian countries with taxes much higher than even Canada are the happiest of all. There is something to be said for having various stesses of life removed by having strong public systems and safety nets in place. Taxes pay for that. Now every country is different and every piece of geography has it's own pressures and issues but just holding onto your precious dollars and not paying taxes isn't the be all and end all of life. You pay one way or you pay another. You have to compare the whole social picture rather than just looking at a number. No need to get political and if you like where you live best of all that's great, but that happiness measurement is a real thing and can't be dismissed. The same thing holds for hockey players. There are quite a few Canadian players who prefer staying in Canada. Maybe Winnipeg is cold and isolated enough to have issues and maybe some don't want to speak French in Quebec but Toronto and Vancouver are certainly not going to have any issues, taxes and all. Lots of players go back to where they came from, especially those Swedes, after they retire. Some still live there now and just stay in condos here while playing. Remember Hasek saying he wanted his son to grow up in the Czech Republic? There are a LOT of happiness related reasons for people to want to be places, and Tavares got to fill out his PJs so he should shut it.
  10. Who cares about headlines... they mean nothing. Only winning will cure the headlines. Worried about headlines when the news media is an absolute troll fest to begin with and doesn't even matter in today's day. This is all just made up excuses that are not real. Media-doesnt matter been bad for years Embarrassed-doesn't matter been Embarrassed for years Stress-the guy owns many different companies I doubt his stress would be much different. These are lazy excuses.
  11. I’m sure the Sabres would’ve been really angry, had we done something similar. How dare anyone expect them to work? The audacity…!! Look…. The other team just got lucky, a bounce here and there, but at least they came back and scored two goals, right? These guys make me want to throw up.
  12. They don't. Let's get real. Put a couple beers in most them and they'd admit they want a real coach just like we do.
  13. I think you're tilting at windmills, partner. Yet another failed regular season will do that to a fella, I reckon.
  14. No I really did win. My cat has no apparent recollection of the kitty crack. He is devouring his regular food and even appears to be fattening up a little, not that he needed it. Blood sugars are maybe a little more stable too.
  15. I thought this article explained it well. https://theconversation.com/baltimore-bridge-collapse-a-bridge-engineer-explains-what-happened-and-what-needs-to-change-226716 Bottom line is really that the size of the container ships has increased so dramatically that older bridge safety standards are no longer adequate. The ships are simply too big and heavy now. I mean just look at all those containers. Never saw anything like that 30 years ago or back when this bridge was built.
  16. A guy with no front office experience was hired to run the team because Pegula trusts and likes him. No POHO because Pegula doesn’t trust NHL people anymore and wants direct access to Adams. A coaching staff that would lead a team to middle of the pack in the ECHL. Bare bones scouting, especially pro scouting because who needs insight on how the other teams are doing. 13 years with no playoffs. Who else is in contention?
  17. As much as Meatballs has exceeded his stay as coach, Adams is to blame for this (as a proxy for Pegula, ultimately). Adams should be on the block with Meatballs IMHO.
  18. Because it's awesome. It really is. This is the only fun we're allowed to have. Any presser after the season to announce DG's geschphinctoing will be our STANley Cup parade.
  19. This needs its own thread. Nashville went 16-0-2 after this. The coach called out the players to the press, and didn't mix words. The GM backed him up. Can you even imagine Adams and Granato doing anything remotely like this? This is how an adult organization does things, they hold players accountable in ways that aren't punitive shenanigans like throwing your track suit in the shower. Wish some adults ran the Buffalo Sabres. https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nhl/predators/2024/02/27/nashville-predators-u2-concert-las-vegas-ryan-oreilly-roman-josi-barry-trotz/72753054007/ https://www.wate.com/sports/ap-sports/ap-nashville-predators-are-16-0-2-since-their-trip-to-see-u2-in-vegas-was-canceled/#:~:text=AP Sports-,Nashville Predators are 16-0-2 since their trip to,U2 in Vegas was canceled&text=Barry Trotz watched his Nashville, the Sphere in Las Vegas.
  20. There was and probably still is a consensus that losing and not replacing Quinn doomed the season. I'm not talking about liking Quinn. I'm talking about the consistent overrating of unproven players and holding them up as saviors. See Cozens, Power, Levi, early Dahlin et. al.
  21. Today
  22. Before the first period. Me and my 3 buddies were yelling and cheering and they came out and just side eyed us. Dahlin gave me a nod at least? Like I get wanting to have some level of focus but it felt like there was nobody who remotely cared.
