  1. Past hour
  2. I'll opine on the RW debate - which is interesting. I think Gare is the clear #1. In my opinion, Robert is the clear #2. Here is likely his greatest moment as an NHL player
  3. i noticed that as well. fwiw, the lyrics to the song reference giving away (ahem) dollar bills (at a strip club).
  4. Today
  5. He was. And yet, ... What might've been.
  6. Nobody's perfect ...? Dude was "Captain Clutch" during the 05-07 window.
  7. I choose Crozier to backup Hasek and possibly Joe Crozier as the coach We need a 3 man booth - Ted Darling and RJ sharing the play by play, while Lorentz is in the booth with commentary.
  8. Lindgren did not show the progression necessary as his scoring dropped below his draft year his two post draft seasons, compared to Hagel. With the rules surrounding CHL players and NCAA about to change, there needs to be changes made to the CHL-NHL Agreement. NHL Teams should get prospect rights for 4 years and teams should get complete control over where first picks play after their D+1 Season
  9. And yet Drury was the guy that missed the open net (from a tough angle) shortly before Commode Door gave the Canes the 1st period lead.
  10. Loved "You've Got Another Thing Coming" blasting out after the goal. Great pump-up goal song.
  11. Tallinder in the 2nd half of '05-'06 was the best D-man the Sabres had seen in a good decade and during that '06 playoff run was a beast. He never was the same after breaking his arm. Really expect he'd've rivaled Schoeny and Ramsey for best Sabres D-man ever had he not broken the arm. That's why he got the final nod on this kid's roster over Hajt. Gave SERIOUS consideration to putting Connolly onto the list too for HIS '06 playoffs. But he'd been a Sabre for a long time before that and was never anything to write home about until he cut his hair and he was never even close to the same after the Schaefer incident. His time at his peak was way too fleeting. But, though Tallinder was never the same, he still was their best D-man for several years to follow and he was a big part of why Myers was as good as he was as a rookie.
  12. Knew there was somebody being forgotten. Turned out it was him. D'oh! He'd get in over one of Drury or Gilmour.
  13. Is he really flashing 1 dollar bills ? This new generation of kids yikes..
  14. Gare gets my vote for #1 RW. Then Foligno at #2. Robert was a much better two way player than Moligny. He is my 3rd "as a Sabre" although Mogilny has a better career overall. I could go either way on 3/4. Pommer is probably 5.
  15. Indeed. Also, I verily believe, he was (is?) an as*hole. How I miss him. Yeah - the theory I posited above doesn't quite hold for all players (or across all sports). Because, as you say, there are some hockey players who very clearly appear(ed) to take things up a notch once the Cup's on the line. Both theories can be true, of course.
  16. I can get on board with this, but there are guys, Drury included, that are clutch in the playoffs. I can think of Henri "Pocket Rocket" Richard as a guy that elevated his normal high level to and even higher one come playoff time. Butch Goring for the Islanders has good in the regular season and even better in the playoffs. Guy Carbonneau also comes to mind.
  17. He said something like if you prepare properly everything takes care of itself. He was a great Stoic.
  18. I stopped reading at the second mention of Rassmus Dahlin.
  19. Looking at players picked in the 10-21 range in 2021, Rosen’s performance and development is either better than, equal to or in the neighborhood of all of them. He suffers when compared to Wyatt Johnston, but then so does almost everyone in the draft. Everyone missed on Wyatt.
  20. Varada instead of Craig Ramsey? Come on!
  21. It was simply that they did not offer him a contract and he became a free agent. He scored 31 goals and 71 points in his post-draft year, slipped back to 18 and 59 in 9 fewer games the following year and Jason Botterill decided there wasn't enough there. https://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/news/2021-mwc-hagel-gets-over-the-hump
  22. I have my doubts about Rosen as well, but I'm curious what you mean by the bolded. Statistically, he finished 3rd in AHL scoring this year among U21 players, ahead of several other high picks. https://www.eliteprospects.com/league/ahl/stats/2023-2024?age=u21
