  1. Past hour
  2. I think I saw Byram making attempts to hit people last season. I dunno, there are several unknown variables leading into next season. I mean, there's a good chance we don't miss Peterka's output at all. It's not like he was amazing. A first pair of Dahlin and Byram should be satisfactory defensively and will likely be a legit offensive threat. It could be alright.
  3. Yesterday
  4. Even with bringing in Rust or the like, it'll be hard not to feel like the Sabres should be renamed Lucy. When the extent of the coaching change was "bring us the head of the S&C coach" we were in for a loooooooong off-season. Thing is, it doesn't HAVE to be this way. Which just makes everything else so darn frustrating as we keep desperately hoping not to hear Sonny and Cher singing in the AM but keep finding ourselves hearing it over and over and over. But IF they do make that one extra futures for actual player move; we might finally get to hear some other ###### 70's song to wake up to. šŸ˜‰ Hearing Eric Carmen belting out "please, go all the way" would be much better. šŸ˜‰ (But at any rate, please dear God, don't let it be Muskrat Love. That might be worse than never moving forward again. šŸ˜‰ )
  5. Connor is gonna get paid. Do you think the Jets are going to risk him walking like Ehlers? And Sabre fans, how do you feel about 30 year old Alex Tuch at $10 x 8? My guess is that Adams assumed the Sabres would be a playoff team the last two years and he would be extending Peterka and Quinn on big deals, trading Tuch for futures, and getting ready to promote Rosen.
  6. Well, at least we know for sure GA has NOT hijacked your account. šŸ˜‰
  7. If the offseason moves are complete, it’s hard to not feel Charlie Browned. We were blood thirsty for an overhaul. Get rid of everyone. I was a part of it. Maybe at the forefront. We should have know once Kevyn was back and Bryson was resigned, the template was set. Trim payroll, give the appearance of forward momentum, give us plebes some hope. We know the drill now. The team is in an endless loop of cost cutting and status quo. It’s just hard to swallow. Well, not for @thorny. šŸ˜€
  8. I don’t want a victory lap. I want to make the playoffs one more time The day I’m actually revealed to be a cynical fool rather than merely claimed to be one will he a glorious day for the sabres - and it’ll be a long time coming
  9. Since I can’t see your posts @Thorny I never meant any hard feelings. My post was directed at WGR and Sabres twitter. It probably didn’t seem that way. Apologies.
  10. And if they don't make another move, @Thorny will be completely justified in taking his victory lap. (Even if they do grab Rust, he still won't have been too far off from what they actually did.) But they KNOW Timmons will come in under $2MM, likely around $1.5MM. So they know pretty well how much money they have to use on Rust and with knowing that they should also know how much other capital they'll have to give the Pens to land him. But the 2 year walk to UFA for Byram actually makes sense from a hockey standpoint, not simply from a cheaping out standpoint. He's in cheaper than he would've been buying UFA years (and considering what he was looking for, considerably cheaper than it would've cost to lock in some of those years) at a time when Skinner's cap hit is ~$4.4 this year and ~$6.4 next year with Tuch (UFA), Kesselring, Benson, Krebs, and Doan all needing new deals (Timmons and Malynsten too but they'll be a UFA so he'll have a bit more of a say in whether they're back or not and can easily see the Sabres letting both walk). With the cap going up they should be able to get all those back and still have some room to bring in another asset or 2 (especially if Samuelsson is taken out of the picture). That following year when Skinner is only $2.4MM skimmed off the cap, they will have a knowledge of what they want to do with Byram and Kesselring (provided his deal didn't buy any UFA years the previous year). Up front only Greenway, Zucker, and Danforth are UFAs that year and they likely would walk from at least 2 of them and Quinn is the only RFA F of note that year as well. Maybe they go back that year to cheaping out as our Winnipeg based friend expects, but also, maybe Pegula sees a value to letting the team rejoin their league just like he seems to see value from having the Bills and Bandits among the top teams in their leagues. As frustrating as this off-season has been, and it has been frustrating as a fan, bringing in Rust would once again bring a modicum hope. Which, especially if it means they don't end up making the changes in the FO and behind the bench that need to be made, might be worse than remaining hopeless.
  11. Evolving Hockey's contract projections.
  12. No need I stopped caring halfway through my last post. FWIW, I’m usually drunk or high or both when I post. Just ignore my stupid ass and you’ll be fine. As a matter of fact. Put me on ignore. Actually, I’ll do you one better. I’ll put you back on my ignore list.
  13. THIS was my stance on Byram that I detailed out several days ago, for what I probably thought in moment was a belaboured amount of times but, wrongly, hadn’t been enough, apparently. Note that ā€œByram retainedā€ features prominently in the high pass B grade I had outlined as an option I had a high pass B lined up for the old sabres in the big 2025 lol! (Hater!) note, as well, that I only didn’t have ā€œtrade Byram for a Dā€ mentioned cause that just seemed oddly unlikely please note also that my stance was clearly outlined that my overall impression was based on the OVERALL OUTLOOK of the roster - - - ā€œI think I’d preferā€ you extremist, hater.
  14. Pretty much all of this. With all the earlier rumours, and the way the summer has played out exactly in the way I would have scripted it in order to facilitate the move. You’ve got @thorny’s utterly cynical prediction of how the off-season has played out exactly like Adams planned in order to leave himself a sliver of plausible deniability while scrimping on another $5M. And you know every ounce of evidence of the past 5 years says he’s right. And then you’ve got the utterly romantic possibility that Adams actually had a plan and is one move away from pulling off a summer where he got harder to play against, insurance in goal, and deeper and more reliable on both the blueline and up front. And you know every ounce of evidence of the past 5 years says you’re a fool to even consider the possibility.
  15. *read* what he wrote. He said my opinion was crafted by a groupthink and was expressing disappointment only because it didn’t happen exactly the way I wanted. this is what actually happened - yes I am being hyperbolic when I said the whole board loves it the direction. You get that that’s intentionally so, right? Because I’m somewhat shaken by the fact my position was so badly misconstrued. In fact that’s too light: it was outright claimed to be disappointed only because I was pigeonholed on wanting something and essentially the thread ran with it and I gotta say, it’s not very fair
  16. Sure they could have traded Byram for a defender. I think that trade is harder. I'm not your buddy, guy.
  17. I'd have loved to trade Byram for a top 6 forward. It would have still opened a hole in the top 4 defense.
  18. No, I didn’t start it because, like I literally just said, again proving that what I write is worthless, I didn’t have the idea that Byram specifically needed to be traded for a F. I wasn’t pigeonholed on that position - that’s my point. You grouped me in this group of people that didn’t like it because it wasn’t exactly what I wanted and that’s simply not fair. I detailed a stance with many varied options and my point was only ever to look at the whole. I will provide a link momentarily
  19. This isn't true. In fact it's nonsense. Almost the entire board thinks at best we're marginally better. Get off that high horse you're riding.
  20. @7+6=13 this isn’t cherry picking, I just typed thorny and McLeod into search. Works with Dahlin, Benson, plenty of stuff where it fits
  21. You may have independently had those ideas. The media has, in concert with your thoughts, pushed their narrative. Honestly, I can’t remember when or where the swap Byram for offense ideology started. It could have been in this forum by you. Hope you feel more respected now. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
  22. Like, i like how your reading of this ā€œoverly negative.ā€ It’s measured. Highlighted the McLeod bit because that’s just one topic I’m frequently positive about frankly I’m slightly disappointed in myself I’m taking the time to detail this - you are absolutely right: I care about what others think way too much. But I care about my rep here even through it’s pretty damn clear from Inky’s post that no one is really reads my takes or gives them the time of day. Not that anyone should - absolutely do not get me wrong - but it’s the same with the sabres, like I always say: if I am sticking around for them, now, at this point, there’s really no one to blame for it but myself, you basically do have to be a glutton for punishment. If I’m posting as much as I do and it’s going out the window, it’s on me for keeping at it.
  23. The results of the team have been historically bad - unless you feel my reaction has been more extreme than historically negative, I’d deem my general stance as ā€œreflectiveā€ before negative or positive having said that, I agree with your bolded bit after making that substitution ā€œthe you don’t like when anything positive is postedā€ is just (I’m hoping intentional) hyperbole - for such a rats ass team i post positive stuff all the time, myself - never mind taking issue in others
