At 1-5-6 and a -9 he would be a healthy scratch on most teams. Maybe he can't find a skate sharpener again.

Yeah, he's definitely the problem on that team. :blink:

 

Gretzky has proven to be an absolute disaster as both a team builder and head coach. If he weren't part owner he'd have been unemployed a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time ago.

So what HoF'er player was even respectable as a coach? Toe Blake comes to mind and I am sure there were a couple of others, but they are far and few between.

 

When you see the game at a different speed than everyone else, it is VERY hard to teach that.

That is true - a lot of the successful coaches who are ex-players were middle-of-the-road guys, talent-wise, because they in their career they needed to learn as much as they could about strategies, how to improve themselves, etc.
