James Patrick

THE CAT

Recommended Posts

Roster's Lock at a certain point. Otherwise I'm sure a team would take a risk with a ringer from the Western European or Russian leagues and you've never seen that happen.

Only players that are available, unless Bettman grants a special exemption (which wouldn't happen, I doubt, until the Sabres can't dress 5 defensemen or if two goalies both went down), are from Rochester and Buffalo.

I know that players that are actively holding out or in negotiations with a team that aren't signed by the end of December are not allowed to play until the following season as a part of the CBA.

I would assume that players that aren't in junior / college that aren't signed (such as Patrick) would fall into that same category, but don't know that for certain.

I think that this is the current roster. The Sabres could pull any of the players listed (per ESPN.com). You'll see a lot of players who didn't play a single game in Buffalo.

The rules are rather vague. I do believe Patrick is an exemption to the rules and could suit up for the Sabres since he's still technically Sabres property.

Do the Sabres have any stud defensemen in college or juniors? If they did, they could bring them up as well. Brett Hull was brought up out of no where by the Calgary Flames in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals way back when.

I do not believe he is Sabres property as he was an UFA this past off season and did not sign a PLAYER contract with the Sabres. He was slated to be a coach, but not a player coach, and he backed out of that to play in Germany.

Tom Morrow, Boston University.

Oh wait, you want someone who actually knows how to play hockey. Nevermind.

I know no one gets it, but any Hockey East fan would be laughing.

Basically, I think we are stuck with what we got. Although I thought the Ruff idea was good :P . Just suit him up and shove him out there.

As for next year, would they bring up Cunneyworth to the be the assistant? We could slap some equipment on him and shove him out there too :P .
