  1. If Hodgson's PPG stays the same, we're going to have to pay him at least what RoR wants and probably more. This is another big problem I have with the short season. We're going to have to dedicate all that money without knowing what he's really capable of in an 82 game season, or what he'd be doing if he wasn't between 29 and 26. I think Ennis needs a new deal this summer too. Plus we have extensions to work on for 26, 29, and 30. The money angle of the RoR thing keeps holding me up and I'm definitely not sure how the Sabres make it all work.
  2. I think our best bet for filling out the top 6 (and having that talent spill down to the 3rd line) is Armia and Grigorenko. Dumb question: if we trade for or sign O'Reilly and immediately give him $5M per year, how much money is Hodgson going to ask for this summer? And how much for Vanek and Pominville? This might get real expensive real fast.
  3. For 14. We used he 12 pick for Oreo.
  4. All the more impressive considering the time he missed this year with two (?) concussions. Still, those concussions make me want to shut him down when his season in Finland is over and let him start up with us in the fall. I'm definitely excited to see what he can do in North America but I'd rather play it safe than put him in the AHL or NHL next month where he might get his clock cleaned again.

    19-9-2

So 19-9-2 will get us to the magical 9th spot in the East. Probably a pretty safe bet that's what we'll do then.
  6. That wasn't my thought. If it was, I would have typed that. But nice job making stuff up. Definitely adds a lot to the board. Is there anyone who doesn't think it's horrible if a guy's parents fly all the way around the world to see their son not play hockey? Like I said, hopefully they get a chance on Tuesday.
  7. That is horrible. Hopefully they're still in town for the Tuesday game against Winnipeg. (And hopefully he plays then, obviously.)
  8. Charlie Sheen is pissed off too: Charlie Sheen ‏@charliesheen watching the best goalie in the world Ryan Miller, stand on his head, then some dooshy teammate got in his way. #sux
  9. They just played the Miller sound clips on WGR and the text doesn't do it justice. He was so pissed his voice was shaking. I'm guessing our history of losing to the Pens on national TV didn't make this one any better.
  10. Holy crap. Ryan Miller posts on our board!
  11. Actually, I'm the board's official "f*** the scouts for not drafting Orpik" guy, and I prefer to blame Regier as he's never made size, strength, and toughness a priority for this team.
  12. The Islanders game was one of the former. NYI was better than us for 60 minutes and we came out of there with a regulation win.
  13. Maybe someday he'll learn how to get his team ready to start a game. Or start a season.
  14. Game ends with Orpik smothering the puck against the boards and then Orpik starts throwing punches at Ott just for trash-talking his goalie. Just want to thank Darcy Regier again for passing him over. The ultimate Regier Buffalo Sabres move. ###### you, Darcy.
  15. This is turning into an awesome game. HOLY ######. That save by Miller!
  16. Because they're the Penguins and we're the Sabres. :( Nice work by Ott, let's make it count.
  17. There's a reasonable request. Sounds like a good use of someone's time too.
  18. I'd be happy if we could double his durability. We're a better team when he plays, but he gets hurt a lot. It's hard to play his game.
  19. apuzchlowski (sp?) is the one who spams every thread with that.
  20. Vanek is so lazy he didn't even use his stick to score that goal.
  21. Huge weekend for Austria. Chritoph Waltz hosts SNL and Vanek scores a goal on Hockey Day in America.
  22. There are red lights and sirens going off at NHL headquarters right now.....
  23. Yeah, unfortunately, the first two minutes are still part of the game. And the Sabres weren't ready for them and they were down 2-0 almost immediately. So it doesn't matter how stupid Mike Milbury is. It's still accurate to say that the Sabres weren't ready to start this game. Just like they're seemingly never ready when they need to be the last few years. Happy 2nd Birthday, Simi! (says lady with tiny cardboard sign right behind Lindy Ruff)
  24. In what way is that a "crock of s***"? The Sabres came out completely flat and were down 2-0 less than two minutes in. This also happens every year on a macro level when the Sabres get out to a horrible start. This is the third year in a row where they've started the season horribly and are hoping for a big second half to sneak into the playoffs. By any standard, our team is never ready to go when they need to be.
