  1. You made zero good points compared to my 3 good points but still think you're winning. Sort of a microcosm of your "Kassian is better than Hodgson" rationale. Would love to know what you think is so unique about this "specific situation." Regier picked Foligno over Kassian and traded Kassian for Hodgson. So far it looks like he was right twice.
  2. Larsson was great in the last Phoenix game in December. If that's what he becomes full-time in the NHL, he'll be awesome for us to have on the 3rd line and PK.
  3. Kassian isn't even as good as Foligno, who people around here have been complaining about, but he's also somehow this amazing player we should have never traded away. That's weird, huh?
  4. Do me a favor and get a clue. The point about the 2007 team is that we were one dimensional and lost too much of our toughness. That doesn't mean tough (or concept of tough) is better than talent. And if Kassian is so awesome, why aren't you on here praising Marcus Foligno every day? Kassian has 16 points and 60 hits this year for a good team. Foligno has 14 points and *135* hits for a terrible team. Have fun with that.
  5. Good call. Who did we pick over McKee that summer? I don't even remember the rationale on that. Tallinder was also never the same after that injury. He was getting Norris Trophy mentions that year and never came close to that level again. Awful.
  6. So as you were watching our entire defense get taken out by injuries, you never believed that it would sink us? You must have been the only one. Not built for the playoffs in 2007. We picked guys like Kotalik and Afinogenov over Dumont and Grier.
  7. Completely rewriting history is fun. We lost because we ran out of NHL defensemen. Not because of our centers.
  8. Which is a great way to spend Terry's money and help us get the rebuild moving. I hope TM is looking into this.
  9. Honestly, that would still feel way better. Thank you.
  10. Yes, but at least we know that finishing the season strong always leads to a good season the following year.
  11. Ennis, Stafford, and Ehrhoff are all interested trade bait this year. I hope our deadline deals are more than just GMTM moving the UFAs out of town. This roster needs major surgery.
  12. If your rationale for not doing something is "bad juju", you don't deserve a job (edit: as an NHL GM, I mean). Baseball teams pick up starting pitchers at the deadline every year and insert them directly into the rotation; they don't worry about how their no.4/5 pitchers are going to feel about it. Also, if you're a young goalie and you lose your job to someone more experienced, accomplished, and (to this point) talented, and you can't handle that moving forward with your life, you almost certainly don't have the mental toughness to help your team win anyway. Aside from hurting the feelings of the two goalies you have now (more likely just one of them since one would probably head back to Buffalo), what about the feelings of the entire rest of the team? I'm pretty sure the veterans on the Flyers, Capitals, Wild, etc. would all approve of the move.
  13. Then it's settled; we shall draft 4th overall. Or maybe 6th.
  14. If that's true, it torpedoes the "but the whole league thinks he's elite" argument. Because there's never been an elite player that teams didn't want to acquire. All it takes is one team that wants to take a shot. And seriously why wouldn't Philly offer up their 1st round pick? Why wouldn't Washington? If you're a GM, think about what making a playoff run (or, God forbid, winning your conference or the Stanley Cup) does for your career.
  15. If you're St. Louis, yes, but if you're *just* a playoff team, why wouldn't you add a star goalie that can take over games. There are a bunch of teams that could add Miller right now and it would mean (1) they definitely make the playoffs and (2) it makes them a pretty scary team to play in the playoffs. Washington, Philadelphia, Toronto, Minnesota, Phoenix, Dallas, Nashville. Taking a chance on Miller would be worth it for all these teams.
  16. The funny thing about the one million posts about Miller is that it all comes down to: "Hey Ryan, do you want to re-sign here." "No, not really." "....OK." There's really nothing to debate. If he doesn't want to finish his next few years in Buffalo, that's all that matters.
  17. Well done.
  18. He was pretty hung out to dry for the entire game.
  19. Overtime. Should have seen this coming.
  20. A lot of fans had an irrational hatred of Poms and Vanek, can they be on the team?
  21. Surely these two goals will end this debate once and for all!
  22. I've never played in the NHL but in general it seems like a bad idea to leave a guy wide open in front of the net. But what do I know?
