  1. Just a reminder for anyone who doesn't read the Prospects thread: NBCSN is broadcasting Wisconsin (Jake McCabe) at Michigan (JT Compher) at 6:30pm ET today. Check it out. And someone let me know how it goes. My GF decided today's the day we're finally seeing American Hustle so I only get to watch one hockey game today (and it was this one). :(
  2. Thanks. Although I always regret starting those because they keep me from the game.
  3. 28 games left after this one. We'll see.

    Tyler Myers

If he ever gets back to being what he was his rookie year, he IS the rebuilding plan. Not sure if that will happen but I'm liking him more now than I have in a while.
  5. This is 0% Murray's fault. It's entirely the fault of Pegula and Regier. Despite being arrogant enough to blast #Blueprint at us for a year, the team never had a plan. They told us (clumsily) that this was our year to tank. Then they decided to KEEP Miller and Vanek fto start this year -- and traded Vanek out for another UFA that we'd have to move later. We couldn't have moved one or both of these guys in June in time for the deepest draft in recent memory??? Nah, let's hang on longer. It'll dick us over in the standings but Uncle Darcy needs to "win" a trade. THEN, once Terry Pegula became the last human being in North America to realize that keeping Regier in charge was a bad idea, he fires him two months into the season so that we can spend another two months looking for someone to fix this mess. I feel like I need to go to church and pray the rosary that PLF and GMTM can break whatever magic spell of incompetence has been cast on this franchise since Black Sunday.
  6. Yep. http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-hockey/sched/mich-m-hockey-sched.html Hopefully it's a better one for McCabe tomorrow. He was -3 tonight. Ouch.
  7. I'm hoping Pysyk, McNabb, and Larsson are full time NHLers next year, but I like the idea of the 2014-2015 Amerks having Ristolainen, McCabe, Armia, and Grigorenko all playing together.
  8. Sign Vanek AND Moulson this summer if we're going in that direction.
  9. All hands on deck. According to this, NBCSN is broadcasting the Wisconsin (Jake McCabe) at Michigan (JT Compher) game tomorrow at 6:30pm ET. http://www.uscho.com/tv/#tv Might be worth checking out, prospect-watchers.
  10. Errrrrr, but we can't see his right hand/wrist. :( So are we thinking bone bruise or broken bone?
  11. Actually, no I can't. There's an emotional element to sports fandom that can't be removed. This isn't like leaving a restaurant after a bad meal -- and if it was, both the Bills and Sabres would have gone out of business a long time ago. I'm sorry that an honest assessment of where we are and where we've been for the past four years is hard for you to hear.
  12. It's sort of like when an older relative is at the end of their life, and they're really sick and in pain for months or years. When they finally pass away, you're almost relieved. That's how I feel about this whole thing. I will really miss Ryan Miller the goalie, and Ryan Miller the guy involved in the Buffalo community, and Ryan Miller the goaltender for Team USA. But at the same time the long, painful, protracted exit (which feels like it's been going since the Lucic incident) is just making me want to get this over with. He needs to move on and we need to move on. I definitely will NOT miss the one million posts speculating on what Miller wants or what Miller is like as a teammate. That's been going on since maybe Black Sunday when the thought was that he'd want to bolt for Detroit the first chance he got.
  13. We're in Year 4 of the "suck, suck, suck, play better" seasons. There is zero entertainment value in this and I'm pretty sure next season will be more of the same. On top of that, it's looking like we're not going to get a whole lot for these UFAs. So the Sabres have probably F'ed that up too. That'll help our rebuild. And this is after we apparently enacted a plan to bottom out ("suffering") that involved keeping Vanek/Moulson and Miller on the team as long as possible. Becasue that makes sense. All we have to show for this season is two feel-good press conferences -- one for Patty and Teddy, and one for Murray and Patrick. That's it. Nothing good has actually happened yet. The Sabres might be the most frustrating and incompetent team in North America right now. But they're still arrogant enough to trot out #Blueprint to start this year. I'm ready for something good to start happening. Enough with the meaningless late-season wins that happen because other teams don't take us seriously and enough with holding onto UFAs as long as humanly possible. Splitting hairs and, besides, we don't even know what the Sabres want. (Do the Sabres even know what they want?) All we know is the market is "lukewarm at best", which is not a roaring endorsement of our guy.
  14. Our best assets for trades are Miller (the "elite" goalie that no one wants) and Moulson (probably seriously injured tonight based on how he reacted to that slash). F***ing amazing. This is what happens when you inexplicably decide to stick with Regier last summer, then decide NOT to trade Miller and Vanek at the draft, and THEN decide to change course and spend a couple months without a GM. But #Blueprint. Way to go, Terry. Might want to get a price estimate on a Pat LaFontaine statue because it's not like we have a lot to look forward to on the ice.
  15. John Vogl ‏@BuffNewsVogl2m Sabres left wing Matt Moulson in serious pain after the game after slash or cross-check on arm. Ted Nolan says they'll know more Friday. Is there anything worse than this? Just drop a bomb on our arena already.
  16. And for the one millionth time in my life, I wish I wasn't a Bills/Sabres fan. Thanks, God. This is going really great. I couldn't have been born in a city where the teams aren't all perpetually doomed?
  17. Of course there's a win streak on the way. Do you honestly think something could ever go right for this team and this city? Enjoy Ryan Miller racking up a few wins while simultaneously planning to bolt as soon as he gets a chance.
  18. Cody "No Defense" Hodgson on the ice tonight in the final minute when Phoenix pulled their goalie. I just re-calculated his chances of ever playing in the Olympics and they're now 0.017843% (after rounding and adjusting for inflation). Why stop there? He's actually all those guys put together!
  19. Moulson hurt and 2 more garbage points for the un-tank. It's fun watching your nightmares come true.
  20. Sabres working hard to get those garbage points and un-tank. Ugh.
  21. Plus our defense is so good at getting control of the puck and making that first pass going the other way.
  22. And Hodgson is the one the other team's checking line and top defensive pairing key in on. We don't have the Sedins to take the heat off the rest of the team.
  23. Actually, yes, I did answer your question. It wasn't a point about toughness being more important than talent; it was a point about the 2007 Sabres being one dimensional relative to the 2006 team (which was balanced). It's amazing that you typed all this out without ever digesting the point I was making like six hours ago. If he was the exact same player here in Buffalo, this would not be your assessment. Love that you cherry-pick stats to make this case too. It's all about goals (not points) in a year where his shooting percentage is noticeably higher than it's ever been and apparently toughness has nothing to do with hits. This is your dream player? You also never explained why you don't spend every day on this board praising Foligno. He's out-hitting Kassian more than 2:1 and has just 2 less points on a terrible, dysfunctional team. Oh well. Maybe you'd like him if we traded him. The only way to keep this thread going is to compare ONLY exaggerated recollections of Hodgson's faults to ONLY exaggerated and/or imagined descriptions of Kassian's impact and potential.
