GDT: 3/6/21 Sabres @ Islanders 12:30 p.m. MSG

I'm getting to the point now of saying give Dylan Cozens the 2C role. Staal has not been the answer and neither is Lazar or Eakin. -

KA said yesterday that he expected to have another presser in the future....perhaps at the trade deadline. If he waits that long, there won't be much of a fan base left. The fans demand another presser on Monday, to announce Ralph's firing. -

Good shift by the 4th line here. -

At 5-8" Bryson plays bigger than most of the other d-men out there. He and Montour are holding things together at +1 while the other two pairs are -1 and -2. Miller and Dahlin look especially rough today. -

Interesting, I heard they were going to show up around 1:00 and leave around 1:05. -
NHL Trade Deadline April 12 —What Would You Like To See Happen?
Carmel Corn replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
An infusion of grit and heart, not just one player but multiple ones. -
Yes...not bad at all. Some good talent comes from the college ranks....for some reason, I just get nervous sometimes about the Sabres' drafting kids who commit to college hockey. I know time is usually in the team's favor, but sometimes the kids do commit all 4 years and then have their choice on where to go.

I would contend my depiction is also accurate. If I were to "guess" how many shifts Wilson had between the hit and his first fight, I would guess 2. It was a close game when the first scrap occurred, but Boston was willing to risk an extra penalty to respond. Sure, the pure blood and guts fans out there would love to see an immediate response, but sometimes it's a matter of having the right personnel on the ice to do so. My view is that Boston responded in a manner that I found to be satisfactory.

The hit happened with about 1:30 left in the period. Chris Wagner did immediately jump on Wilson and took him down to the ice and in the process Wilson sustained a cut on his nose...not sure from the impact of his visor hitting the ice. But to your point, no...no fight immediately. TInordi was not on the ice when it happened. About 6 minutes into the 2nd is when Wilson and Tinordi fought and each got 5 minutes. So again, the fight was not immediate, but IMHO was clearly in response to what happened in the first. Boston was not done with Wilson, as Trent Frederic also fought Wilson early in the 3rd. Frederic instigated and got an extra 2 and 10 minutes. So no, neither fight was immediate, but Boston clearly responded. When the hit happened, it was just a 1-0 game. After the first fight, Boston scored 4 consecutive goals to take control of the game. The second fight happened with Boston ahead 5-0. IMHO, Boston did respond (albeit not immediately) and took control of the game after that response. To your point, if it happened to a Buffalo player, I would be satisfied with two scraps and a decisive victory as a team response.

That was hilarious! Two longtime teammates busting each other's chops. Chara towers over Marchand...maybe they'll have a laugh over a beer when the game is over.
-
Boston has an ideal mix of players with skills, players who can agitate, players who can scrap, players who can defend, good goaltending and good coaching. Our only chance is to lull them to sleep.
-
Agree...KA had to do it and seemed genuine to me in his responses. The only thing I felt he could have done differently was to have it sooner than today.

Catching the Bruins - Caps game tonight. The Cap's Wilson dishing out another cheap shot on Brandon Carlo. Big Jarred Tinordi, just claimed off waiver from Nashville embraces his new teammates and Bruins culture....get's into a heavy duty scrap with Wilson. Others may not condone this, but I am envious that Boston can get a guy like this who stands up for his new teammates and does what he feels is necessary to help his team.

Missed the live presser, but just watched the replay. I'll give KA some credit for disclosing some things I might not have expected him to. Despite the circumstances, I still find him to be easier to watch and listen to vs. former GM JBOT. A welcomed break vs. listening to the psycho babble from Ralph (the articulate incompetent) Krueger.

How bad is it? The Sabres compared to the Tank
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Agree....my dilemma is that I am anxiously awaiting SOMETHING from management or ownership (Kim) to say something about this debacle. The problem is, as soon as we hear from Kim, I expect my reaction will be as if she were dragging her fingernails on a chalkboard. I'll be screaming to myself "make her stop!" -
Honestly, with the way they are playing...it almost feels like addition by subtraction. Joki was not as bad last night, but his normal and quietly effective game has been replaced by a string of mistakes and blown coverages. Dahlin's game was especially bad last night and I see no signs of consistent improvement. Right now it feels like they're going with the lesser of the evils....sad!

There's an old expression "The fish stinks from the head". Adams is powerless to do anything including talking to the media. The Pegula's are in charge and they don't trust anybody but themselves, KA and RK. Until they can turn over a new leaf and learn to "trust" and hire competent management, we're stuck having to smell this awful product.

This is why a professional sports team should NEVER ever allow itself to "plan" to lose. I don't care if the intentions include resting players, prevent injuries or improve one's drafting position. Once you allow or even promote the idea of losing, it becomes a STINK that is impossible to get rid of. -
Oh Captain My Captain: Former Sabres weigh in on this disaster
Carmel Corn replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
They are all hiding behind the "Articulate Incompetent" known as Ralph Krueger. Since he is unable to effectively coach a team, he can at least earn his $3.9 million by drawing all the heat from the media and fans. -
Ralph Krueger needs to go - like yesterday.
Carmel Corn replied to MODO Hockey's topic in The Aud Club
I don't know how many of you have heard of this term before, but Ralph is the perfect example of this in the NHL. IMHO, he is the epitome of the term "The Articulate Incompetent". I first heard of this with respect to the worst possible person to hire for a job. Google it and you'll see statements like: "Beware of the articulate incompetent" "The most dangerous person in the world is the 'articulate incompetent.'" "Only intuition can protect you from the most dangerous individual of all, the articulate incompetent." Folks, I give you Ralph Krueger....the NHL version of THE ARTICULATE INCOMPETENT. How lucky we are (ugh)! -
In 2017 Phil Housley said " “I think the guys will be excited to play the brand of hockey I bring … it’s an attacking mindset, playing with speed, pace and playing fast that’s a five-man attack. We have to play great defense, but if we can get five guys involved in the attack, it puts the odds in your favor.’’ Maybe the Sabres need to stop dreaming about being an "attacking" team and find another recipe for success.

Can we engineer a "swap" to send Seattle this current team RIGHT NOW and we'll take the expansion team rights in 2021-2022? "Seattle Sabres" has a ring to it. Oh wait a minute, forget it....Botterill part of the Kraken organization....he would have to stay in Seattle.
-
For the right price, I would throw Dahlin's name in as well.
-
Bryson leading the team with over 23 minutes TOI and a +1 in +/-. Perhaps the only bright spot in this sh!t storm of a game tonight. Dahlin..... -4
