His +/- history suggests to me that we don't have to worry about replacing ALL of his goal production. His absence may actually provide some addition by subtraction with respect to overall goal differential. Also, if his spot is replaced by somebody who can bring a different style of play, meaning winning more puck battles to improve possession time....thereby more scoring opportunities and goals.

Would it be a crazy scenario that there is no announcement before the draft, Ryan Johnson is invited to the next Sabres Development camp (July?). After that, he decides that this is the place he wants to be and finally inks a deal before he becomes a UFA? Maybe ridiculous, but can't help wondering if this could happen.

What was the problem with the PK in 22-23?
Carmel Corn replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Aud Club
As stated by others above, the PK was simply too passive, thereby allowing the other teams to operate with too much space and time. I'd also prefer to see our D-men more active in terms of pushing opposing forwards out of the crease area to let our netminders see the puck more easily. Last, I feel the D-men literally "faced" the puck when there were loose pucks in the crease.....I'd rather see them turn away from our goalies and face the forwards in the area and neutralize them from getting to the loose pucks. -
Potential Players available summer 2023
Carmel Corn replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Aud Club
Time will tell, but I agree it will take $5+ to sign him. There has to be 1 or more other teams that feel $5M per year is a reasonable price for a top 4 guy still in his 20's (albeit somewhat later). -
The Stanley Cup Playoffs 2023: First Round GDT

Watching Florida vs. Boston, it makes me wonder how we managed to waste Brandon Montour's talent while he was with Buffalo?!?! -
IMHO, my only concern with your point is that of the defense (both in terms of personnel and scheme). As far as personnel, who comes to mind as internal development from the bottom 3 defense corp? I don't see Joki, Boosh or Stillman developing as a legit top 4 defender. As far as scheme, I question whether our organization has the right coaching to tighten up coverage in our zone. Stronger goaltending will help for sure, but I'd like to see the team improve in front of him.

What was the home record based on: 1. Black goathead uni's? 2. White "Pajama" uni's? 3. Normal blue uni's? Maybe it's not the crowd 🤔???

Can we deny Pittsburg permission to interview Karmanos? Kind of like what happened when we wanted to interview Chris Drury for GM years ago? https://buffalonews.com/sports/sabres/article_fc8e7642-d52f-5561-abbe-904076005bca.html

Uh-oh, Hedman leaving the ice, going to the locker room....early in the 2nd. -
Keeping it simple....next season Krebs is our 4C who can move up to a 3C if needed (ex injuries). Another season to develop and get stronger. I like his enthusiasm and feel he is a great fit with the new culture in the locker room.

Having a modern day version of Lidstrom, who (Power) BTW just happens to have the reach of a 6-5" frame sounds pretty outstanding to me. Just pair him with a stay at home type partner who can take care of the more physical duties in our own zone and we're golden.

4 more seasons to go.....can he continue to be durable and productive? Hopefully so.....he still seems fairly "youthful" out there!

the problem of being..........Kyle Okposo
Carmel Corn replied to Misanthrope's topic in The Aud Club
I would want GMKA to also add experienced players (in their prime) not already on our roster. KO's production is only about half of last season and they both know this is a "business" where hard decisions have to be made vs. emotional ones. KO should be treated with great respect and offered some non-player role in the organization as an option in case he ends up retiring.
