Don Granato the Worm Tongue and the Culture of Losing

Is it as simple as wanting to see HC DG go ape sh1t on his players? On the refs? On anyone or anything? Really missing Lindy, eh? -
Meh. Per the National Weather Service: "Sunday. A chance of showers before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 58. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%." OTOH, Josh has a bad throwing shoulder. So ... . Well, hope for the best.

I haven’t considered it before now. Is it working, at least?
-
Hmm. I'll have to look again. Seems unlikely. I think maybe what you're seeing is just sugar-high-Josh.

Further to the question/point above: There were times (a couple? a few?) on Sunday night where it appeared that Allen was thinking too much while moving in the pocket - split seconds of hesitation - should I stay or should I go? I wonder if putting the clamps on him could end up putting him at greater risk. Maybe just teach the guy to slide rather than prohibit him from taking 5-8 yards when it's there to be had.

Cowherd leads my short list of mandatory don't watch. Besides which, we don't need that dipsh1t to know that there has been a fundamental change (as Eric Wood put it in his post-game comments on Sunday night, iirc) in how the Bills are coaching and managing Josh Allen. They are not running him. They are not allowing him to run. I infer that other teams planning for the Bills have it a little easier, as they no longer have to account - as much - for Allen running wild. The irony here is that Allen's injuries - as far as I can recall - have occurred while he's in the pocket. The Jets last year (elbow). The Giants on Sunday night (shoulder). I suppose those are distinct considerations? That is: Just because he gets injured in the pocket doesn't mean he should run more. Or does it? Would a more free Josh be a more safe Josh?

MSG's Sabre Games: No Cable Needed Next Season

Fair enough. What some learned in cutting the cord, however, is that they can manage with less. My overall "tv" spend is definitely down (when adjusted for inflation). -

Not sure I follow. If your point is that cord-cutting has - for most - led to as much or more spending on various streaming services, then: Agreed. I know I'm doing better and spending less, on balance. OTOH, I'm still in a life-phase where I have no time (energy? desire?) to commit to television. The last show we watched the whole way through was Peaky Blinders. Prior to that, it was pandemic days and we definitely got into a few shows then (the whole fam damily, actually). -
Fair deuce. I appreciate your insights and takes on the fooohbawh. I have hung out on teh interwebs long enough to wonder - genuinely - whether this is a bit. if it is, it's pretty funny.

sure. okay. fine. just -- when you're at the 1 yard line -- line up with every offensive lineman you have (illegal?) plus emergency-activate that one sumo wrestler p. squad guy (Yossha!) -- and give it to latavius or, better yet, have josh crawl up torrence's butthole, through it, and into the end zone. Good insights here. We hear this a lot: "We need to be multiple."

Cripes, man. Give the guy some time. If all goes according to plan, he probably won't be feeling right until December-ish. From my perch in the 300s, I saw one rush on an obvious passing down where he got a very good jump and forced Tyrod to move. Play action, you say? SOMEONE TELL DORSEY ABOUT THIS TOO.

Absofrickinlutely. Deebo-Ayiuk. Chase-Higgins-(Boyd!). Hill-Waddle. The Bills cannot count on Gabe Davis. Limited skill set. Limited utility. I'm not an X's and O's guy, but I've heard/read that a run out of a pistol or gun (btw, are those terms just gonna survive the PC wave of relanguagification? (the "Red River Shootout" did not!)) is a significant "tell" to where the run might/can go. In addition, getting chunks of yards on a certain run formation from your team's side of the field and as far as the red zone is a sight different than getting a fugging yard when you are on the 1. Citing the success of that scheme tends to ignore the situational nature of play calling. You need a yard to get 6 points. Get close, line up, quick count, huge push, fall forward! Agreed, except for the OL and RBs. I think those parts of the team are/can be above-average/good. It's a shame that Cook is on some sort of pitch count. The kid would get rolling last night, break off a couple nice runs, and then *boop*, out of the game for 5 plays. Is this a serious take? Nfw the Marras move on from Daboll without first letting him get a shot with *his* QB. Look what he did for Allen!

I'm right on the verge of being sick of this narrative -- that the All-22 film nerds have a Dorsey take that's very different from the good folks who sit near me in Section 307. When the Bills lined up in pistol at the goal line -- and then effing ran the ball (for an inevitable loss) -- we collectively lost our got dam minds. GET. UNDER. CENTER. I will say this for Dorsey: He had his moments. He went "it's a copycat league" for that Harty TD. I've seen some version of that motion/stop motion/opposite way from the Chiefs, I think. Nice work on Dorsey's part. Also, he schemed up a very good game-ending throw to Knox -- between Josh's shoulder injury and Knox being ... Knox, it did not work out. But overall, his offense too frequently has no flow, no rhythm, no identity. He sprained his shoulder in the 2nd (err, 3rd?) quarter. It's why the touchdown to Morris was such a close call (not the typical zip). It's why he sorta missed Knox (88 must catch that) to seal the game. Prayers up if he misses a week or 2. And even if he does not miss time, 17 will lose accuracy and velocity for a few weeks.
