I know one thing. I hate the way DeJean pronounces his name.  That is Dijon all day every day.  Regardless, I’m calling him mustard if he’s on the Bills. For my money, they end up with both DeJean and Tha Honky.  Big “process” guys. Also, very high motors and smart. 🤣

  2. Lots of smoke about the Patriots and ... Bills (?!) -- two teams at the top of the 2nd round -- being interested in Deebo.

    Huh?!

This has got to be the 49ers and agents trying to drum up interest on New England's part.

Why would the Bills want a 29 year old slot/gadget guy, who's incredible when he's right but is not an "X" and is also injury prone?

Hardman, Hollywood Brown, Worthy... good luck defenses.  That is some elite speed, not to mention the other layers of Reids offense with Kelsey and a good backfield.  I highly doubt he will have a down year on offense like last year with this group.  Worthy doesn't have to be Tyreek, just has to be better than Toney.

man, it's april. i'm just over here trying to catch a vibe.

You guys should take deJean and get your WR later he's too good to pass up

If I was a betting man I think he is the pick.  He fits McDermotts checklist and since Beane follows the draft rules to the "t", DeJean checks the boxes there as well.  It certainly is a need as well although I think he plays the FS position in the NFL.  Hopefully Beane can than move up, but it would be  travesty to field a mediocre WR corps with Allen in the height of his prime.

Ugh. I fear this to be true.

It makes me smile when the same fans who are passionately for or against a particular coaching candidate they’ve never met are furious because Adams targeted someone someone he knows very well, then simply went out and got him.

Is that actually it? I had the sense that fans were upset about an apparent lack of a deliberate, thorough process -- that GM KA was just like

So the list likely starts off like this.

    1. Ruff
    2. Appert
    3. Gallant  (one would hope but apparently nobody called Berube)
    4. Matt Ellis (I am not joking)
    5. Carle (maybe, but also maybe not?)
    5-10: ?????

The Adams family's dog, Tinsel, should be on that list. She's a good listener.

I’m thrilled. To gain all the assets and still get their guy would be great.  If they want ThaHonky at 33, I’m good. Cooper DeJean has McDermott written all over him though.

    This made me unreasonably happy.

This is the point the whining little children on WGR keep missing. KC was gonna get Worthy, anyway. It sucks the trade was with KC, but in the final analysis, it really doesn’t matter.

Right. The gripe that fans could have is that the Bills failed to properly assess Worthy -- they didn't value him enough -- they were wrong to pass on him. Which - fine. We'll see. For my part, I didn't like the risk.

I'm sorry, I just don't care what the Chiefs do.

Not at this time of year, nope.

Does he try to get 2 wrs in the 2nd?

This was my hope, as posted upthread: If you can’t get one of the top 3 WR’s, then spread risk and grab 2 of the other intriguing WR prospects.

Lol - this is reminiscent of what Beane did with Rousseau and Basham (doubling up). Hopefully, this time, it’s more than a single (base hit) and a lazy fly ball out.

Trading with KC took stones. I hope it doesn’t come back to bite the Bills. I’d said I don’t want Worthy for the Bills. But it’s quite puckering to see him drafted by the Chiefs.

I love that story from a few years ago about how Kiper has DVDs of the Carson era Tonight Show and he watches them Monday-Friday at 11:30 each night.

    I need a multi-episode, well-produced "BTS" of this guy's life.

A couple years later, they brought on a young guy who had volumes of scouting reports, Mel Kiper. I bought his draft guide early on, which was top shelf in presentation. He answered the phone himself in his kitchen and took your order. I asked him about some player and and gave me a rundown with time being of no concern.

What a great post. This bit especially is just gold. I appreciate this perspective on Kiper: Dude is largely responsible for a huge NFL-centered industry. Of course, what he's doing is trying to read tea leaves. But he does it in such an intense and engaging way, that I still enjoy watching and listening.

Also: I heard on a podcast this week - from someone who works with Kiper (Daniel Jeremiah possibly) - that Kiper has no cell phone and has as many as 5 separate landlines in his home. There was some confusing talk about how you can send a text to Kiper -- I didn't quite understand or catch what was said. My sense is that he has computers/laptops (tablets?) and does some sort of IM's through a service or application.

Brugler of the Athletic has the Bills trading up to 17 and taking Brian Thomas Jr.

That was/is his final Mock before tonight.

That would be a very tidy outcome.

No I don't. That's idiotic and stupid. Adams has no idea who I even am

    Lol — you sure?

I take your issue here to be principled and generalized (“don’t lie to your team’s long suffering fans”), not personal.

As stated, I’d urge you to a more practical view, but I won’t drag for the passion or zeal with which you’re making your point. Keep on rockin’ in the free world.

You want me to say deliberately deceived his audience instead? Adams knowingly and purposely made it sound like he conducted a more extensive search than he clearly did. They wanted Ruff and they got Ruff.

I don't want you to say anything.

I want you to chill, Daddy.

    Chill Relax GIF

Lol - I never miss a chance to deploy that meme. Anyway, to me, it's just not a big deal. He probably did speak to 10+ "people" about the job opening. One of them was probably his dog, Tinsel (she was a Christmas gift a few years ago). Idk. It's just puffery, like I said. Benign, at that. Adams will be gone soon enough.

The Sabres have lost that "oh, shucks, they're good guys trying to do the right thing" charm long ago. They wrecked the team, at least they can start trying to earn back the goodwill of the fans by not BS'ing us and taking ownership of their decisions no matter how they think it looks.

Tired of Adams shallow approach to executive "leadership".

The "shallow approach" seems dead nuts. Like, he knows the buzz words, but, it's also like, don't dive in, baby.

I don't much care whether they're going to BS us a bit. Emphasis on a bit. That's par for the course. We're not really allowed under the tent to see how the sausage is getting made. (Sorry to mix metaphors.) I only care that the team notch ~95 points next season. That's all I care about.
