Personally, I’d take a stretch of multiple enjoyable regular seasons leading to playoff berths ultimately ending in disappointment than I would multiple terrible regular seasons to the tune of the worst run of all time in professional sports followed by coming in even lower by expectations than the Leafs because we can’t finish higher than 22nd any single season
More than fair.
I sound a bit like a NY Jets fan - seeing the Chiefs crush the Bills’ spirits again in January - “I’d rather be a Jets fan than a Bills fan.”
Because NAH.
Nonetheless. There’s something specific about this being the Leafs, Toronto.

I’d rather be a Sabre fan than a Leaf fan right now.
With the Sabres, I know what we’ve got. It’s pretty mid.
With the Leafs, you go through this annual torture of thinking you have a team that can compete for the Cup, but … no, you don’t.

I always like their chances when 17 is slinging it.
As for Diggs and Floyd: Both of them fell off in the latter half of the year. The Bills are gonna miss the production each player provided when they were humming. That production keyed some wins.

Ha - like, why?

What the chief's did was lucky they stumbled into the playoffs and got hot.
Mahomes and Kelce leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory was “lucky.”
My brother in Christ.

Lol - “dominated the draft.”
I don’t begrudge that media landscape. It’s sort of an apotheosis of analytics and fancy stats. Closer to D&D than actual football.

I heartily enjoy any athlete - any person, really - who is unabashedly and outwardly *themselves*.
Welcome to Buffalo, Keon. Sorry that we don’t have a Waffle House.
Also, the multiple Coleman’s sagging pants comments aren’t, as the kids used to say, passing the vibe check.

I liked all the picks.
I take some encouragement from the fact that both the Utah and Duke players are ones who seem to fit what Beane and McDermott want/like/do.
Here’s hoping that they all become regular contributors in year 1.

Immediate replacement for Gabe. Love it.
ThaHonky goes in the next pick.
🍻 to what could have been.

I know one thing. I hate the way DeJean pronounces his name. That is Dijon all day every day. Regardless, I’m calling him mustard if he’s on the Bills. For my money, they end up with both DeJean and Tha Honky. Big “process” guys. Also, very high motors and smart. 🤣

Lots of smoke about the Patriots and ... Bills (?!) -- two teams at the top of the 2nd round -- being interested in Deebo.
Huh?!
This has got to be the 49ers and agents trying to drum up interest on New England's part.
Why would the Bills want a 29 year old slot/gadget guy, who's incredible when he's right but is not an "X" and is also injury prone?

Hardman, Hollywood Brown, Worthy... good luck defenses. That is some elite speed, not to mention the other layers of Reids offense with Kelsey and a good backfield. I highly doubt he will have a down year on offense like last year with this group. Worthy doesn't have to be Tyreek, just has to be better than Toney.
man, it's april. i'm just over here trying to catch a vibe.

10 minutes ago, Gatorman0519 said:If I was a betting man I think he is the pick. He fits McDermotts checklist and since Beane follows the draft rules to the "t", DeJean checks the boxes there as well. It certainly is a need as well although I think he plays the FS position in the NFL. Hopefully Beane can than move up, but it would be travesty to field a mediocre WR corps with Allen in the height of his prime.
Ugh. I fear this to be true.

Beane is legit OBSESSED with that 3rd Round pick.

It makes me smile when the same fans who are passionately for or against a particular coaching candidate they’ve never met are furious because Adams targeted someone someone he knows very well, then simply went out and got him.
Is that actually it? I had the sense that fans were upset about an apparent lack of a deliberate, thorough process -- that GM KA was just like

So the list likely starts off like this.
1. Ruff
2. Appert
3. Gallant (one would hope but apparently nobody called Berube)
4. Matt Ellis (I am not joking)
5. Carle (maybe, but also maybe not?)
5-10: ?????
The Adams family's dog, Tinsel, should be on that list. She's a good listener.

Pithiest post I can recall seeing on this board. Really exquisite - especially pulling those terms (which are both spot on).

I’m thrilled. To gain all the assets and still get their guy would be great. If they want ThaHonky at 33, I’m good. Cooper DeJean has McDermott written all over him though.
This made me unreasonably happy.
1 hour ago, K-9 said:This is the point the whining little children on WGR keep missing. KC was gonna get Worthy, anyway. It sucks the trade was with KC, but in the final analysis, it really doesn’t matter.
Right. The gripe that fans could have is that the Bills failed to properly assess Worthy -- they didn't value him enough -- they were wrong to pass on him. Which - fine. We'll see. For my part, I didn't like the risk.
45 minutes ago, LGR4GM said:I'm sorry, I just don't care what the Chiefs do.
Not at this time of year, nope.

Otoh, the Chiefs were probably always getting Worthy even if they stayed at 32.
And for my man @inkman: Ladd ThaHonkey incoming. I hope you enjoyed your evening.

Does he try to get 2 wrs in the 2nd?
This was my hope, as posted upthread: If you can’t get one of the top 3 WR’s, then spread risk and grab 2 of the other intriguing WR prospects.
Lol - this is reminiscent of what Beane did with Rousseau and Basham (doubling up). Hopefully, this time, it’s more than a single (base hit) and a lazy fly ball out.
Trading with KC took stones. I hope it doesn’t come back to bite the Bills. I’d said I don’t want Worthy for the Bills. But it’s quite puckering to see him drafted by the Chiefs.

Now if he can just figure out how to stay out of the box 😄
It was downright weird how much the refs hated the kid.

What an absolute legend and, as the saying goes, what a beauty. His voice is forever synonymous with the world's most exciting sport.
RIP.

NHL Playoffs (First Round) discussion

Oof.
I just looked at today’s lineup.
It is objectively incompetent for Bettman to allow this slate to be coordinated such that McDavid is *still* in the 10:30 eastern game. Inexcusable.
