    Paging George Carlin.

I am a huge George Carlin fan. 🙂

Carlin would have a field day with virtue signaling whoppers like turning “homeless” into “unhoused.”

Louie CK takes a run at such things in his bit regarding the “R-word.” (And mind you, I consider that word essentially off limits — but CK makes great points in his bit about the word’s elimination from common speech.)

There's no conversation to be had. nfreeman has decreed that Bills social media is off limits.

He was just doing normal admin things when things got offensive.

Also, I know you weren’t saying there was an intentional effort to mock the homeless and homelessness. I think I understand your point — this is sort of a cheap, casual cruelty.

I just … it’s too much. Too sensitive.

P.s. I thought I posted this hours ago. Found it sitting on this tab as a draft of sorts.

Jordan Poyer? Or does he have a younger brother I don't know about 😉

Lol - the Broncos' former safety's name is Justin. Hence the brain cramp.

Apparently the Bills met with former NCAA heavyweight champion wrestler, Olympic gold medalist and former WWE prospect, Gable Steveson.

IDK what the outcome would be as Steveson didn’t even play high school football let alone college.

This is becoming (has been?) a thing in the NFL: Take a no risk flyer on a physical freak.

What a lovely turn this thread has taken.

Let's get back to discussing the Bills, please.

That Broncos safety (Simmons) is still out there. 2nd team all pro last season. 30 years old.

Seems like he's getting a bit of the Justin [EDIT: JORDAN] Poyer treatment. Didn't Poyer test free agency last offseason - after being named an all pro? - before returning to the Bills for the 2023 season?

Were the producer’s of ‘Parks and Recreation’ making light of the homeless, too? Do you honestly think the Bills’ media team got together in the pitch room intentionally seeking to make fun of the homeless and then tossed around various ideas and scenarios with that theme in mind? Smh.

I don’t think he’s claiming that the Bills social media team was intentionally making fun of the homeless or making light of homelessness.

    Unless maybe he is.

Also, let’s get a woke footnote here: The more appropriate term is unhoused, not homeless.

Making light of the homeless, many of whom indeed live in tents, is cynical. The source of the "joke" hardly matters.

You're missing or ignoring several layers of context here - as well as the bit's fundamental absurdity.

    Aren't you Mr. Woke?

Am I? I'm definitely progressive (liberal) on most social issues. I even spent some time savin' the world as a younger man -- working with street and homeless populations, as it happens. And I now have kids of my own doing similar things in their 20s. So yeah.

I also have a sense of humour.

Seems only when it strikes you.

    This is sh1tty.

I sometimes debate what I can't abide more: A conservative (or whatever those folks actually are nowadays) who wants things to go back to being great, or a humourless liberal.

As in he doesn't offer it? Not enough of it, I'd say.

He's shown great ability to hold off checkers at times.

But there's power there that's wasted because he'd rather beat guys with his hands.

Without dumping on Granato, we saw no suggestion that he wanted his forwards to engage. We know that's not the case with Lindy.

I'm curious to see whether players like Thompson and Tuch are encouraged to use their size more, not so much to punish, but to impose their will and get inside.

    I’m not being clear.

I seem to recall that there was a long stretch of play for Tage in 22-23 where he was putting up Bergeron type numbers — plenty of points and excellent defensive metrics

    Wrong on both accounts.

Like I said, I can’t put my finger on it, but he seems too gimmicky to be a 1C.  He’s not a one trick pony, but he sure isn’t a prototypical 1C either.  I have a gut feeling it won’t work out beyond a team with no expectations.

This continues to be an interesting take.

Otoh, wasn’t there a long stretch in 22-23 where he was tracking as a Lady Bynge candidate?

I wouldn’t try to argue against Dahlin, but I’m not smitten either.

I can’t shake the feeling Tage is a fraud, but I can’t exactly put my finger on why either.

    Interesting stuff here.

My lingering concern with Tage is that he won’t hold up. Tall fella. Very tall. UNNATURALLY TALL. Short stick. Torqued one timers. The back injury in 22-23? The slow start in 23-24. Idk, man.

In 2024 you really want to talk about Evander Kane and put up a meme of a monkey suit? Really? REALLY?

    Think it over.

Jeebus Christmas, man. This post ⬆  ranks among the worst I've ever responded to on this board.

I'd suggest you think about things a little less.

And not for nothing: That meme depicts an animatronic orangutan (so, a great ape - not a monkey) that is malfunctioning in such a way as to amusingly suggest questions to the viewer like "bro, you serious?" It is a modern classic. One of my favourites.
