In short, you're overreacting. Which, ironically, also tracks.

I agree. You're fairly rational. But you are in this case. Did they run out of coffee or something?

So, I'm fairly rational, but in this case I'm overreacting.

    So it doesn't track?

I'm just trying to keep things straight.

No shortage of coffee in my life -- although I stick to two 8 oz. servings a day anyway.

I'm just not "with the program" here.

    I speak only for myself.

There's really nothing to cover... Oh hey "sabres lose again" super exciting... Or "no news on the floundering sabres"

The local “newspaper” has come to the same conclusion that … most have: The Sabres don’t matter.

I thought you were overreacting to something that happens every day. It's the offseason for the Sabres and Bills, so to have Lance cover both teams while a new Sabres beat writer is hired is perfectly normal. I thought maybe you misread the tweet, saying there would be no one covering the Sabres.

    No, I saw it.

The local “newspaper” still “has someone” “covering” the local “pro hockey team.”

He’s been assigned to covering the Bills, but will “pull double duty” for the time being.

    It’s horsesh1t.

Of course, the decayed corpse that is the former animated journalistic body of The Buffalo News is now so far gone that it hardly smells of rot anymore. Barely anything for the vultures to pick at.

It’s a sadly fitting development for “the Sabres.”

Yes it is, after you read the tweet.

    i don’t follow.

i’m also pretty sure that i don’t want to follow and will regret asking for clarification.

it’s a  mickey mouse move to announce lysowski’s reassignment without having someone on staff to take over the beat.

  5. I too am glad that I've avoided the gambling bug. I do the normal stuff -- March Madness brackets, Super Bowl squares, fantasy football -- but have always stayed away from the real sh1t.

Somewhat ironically, I sort of enjoy the "degenerate gambling" banter on a podcast I regularly listen to. Maybe it's akin to getting a contact high from someone else's smoke.

No one thought Hollins was anything before last season.

And with due respect, I still don't think he's any great shakes. He benefited from being in a fairly thin WR room (and the team not having a good option for "the X") and from having an All-Pro QB.

If the guy weren't such a character (the walk-in outfits, the life hack videos on Instagram), his offseason departure would have been far less newsworthy than it was.

I know radio stations are in the business of self promotion but their current level of self indulgence is obnoxious.  Everywhere I turn it’s someone affiliated with the station hyping up Beane teeing off on them.  Just weird.

    Interesting.

I watched a lot of pro wrestling as a kid and enjoy listening to people (insiders) talk about the business of pro wrestling as an adult. I especially enjoy the vernacular that has grown up around pro wrestling.

With that context and in light of the observation you've made above, I'm now getting to wonderWas Beane cussing out the WGR guys a "work?"

I see ppl didn't like this. It's true though.

lol - it is absolutely true.

and i’m dead serious when i say that i don’t like whatever thought process, personality evolution, own fart sniffing that led to him coming in so hot with the *WGR* guys. (the ***** WGR guys, people.)

and i don’t much like what it may portend.

i hope he has someone he trusts who can say that sort of thing to him.

I hate the “what if” game. I prefer “what is”. We could reduce pretty much every single situation down to a game like this if we wanted to. The fact of the matter is that he did draft Josh Allen and he has been one of the most successful GMs in the league over that time.

But anyway, I finally listened to that last night. I get the feeling that something other than football got to Beane in the last few days.

he desperately wanted darnold. it was pegula who said allen’s our guy.

  9. Beane’s tone and approach with WGR leaves me to infer that he most likely has a personalized “Big Baller Beane” gift somewhere among his office tchotchkes.

Easy, boss. If Allen hadn’t defied the odds to become a future HOF’er, you’d have been out of a job years ago.

    Very low quality.

Who? Jeremy White? Joe DiBiase (sp?)?

But anyway, how was this year’s WR class anyway? I really don’t hear all that much about it.

Reportedly not very good at all.

No it wasn't good for Beane. He came off as condescending and defensive.

Also trust and respect doesn't not equal cannot be questioned. That's some bs if you think that to be blunt. Jeremy White was going to ask a good question, and Beanne couldn't handle it and didn't even get asked in the end.

Yeah. The fact that he unmasked in this way seems to suggest to me that he might be smelling his own farts (??), reading his own press clippings … or just generally taking undue pride in the team’s accomplishments under his tenure.

Stay humble. Keep grinding. Growth mindset. And so on.
