You're welcome, Inky.

Rick Bates? That ... that is so damn strange. It's creating cognitive dissonance in my brain because I 100% expected this to be an accusation of domestic violence or sexual assault. But it's a claim that Hill was playing too rough in a backyard game of 2-hand touch football?!?!?! In fairness, that chick appears to be quite normal sized ... quite fit (attractive) actually ... and almost definitely @inkman's type.

Yeah. There's a bleacher report clickbait BS thing out on Twitter (announcing a trade of Douglas to the Lions). Other than that, there's Beane's quote from the combine in which he says nothing to report on potentially extending Douglas. Let's try to keep things sourced and linked here. Otherwise, we are causing people to worry needlessly and waste time chasing down baseless rumours.

da fuq - no way they should be letting go of rasul.

elegantly put.

Agreed 100% -- I definitely played along with those initial highlights (was it the stadium game?). But someone - was it a guy named Olivier (?) - just effing fed him the other night. No bueno. I feel like he needs to be protected from himself. Also: I acknowledge how times have changed. I think about the gladiator vibes that I rabidly supported for a guy like Rob Ray -- who, yes, was a very tough guy, but he was not, in fact, a true heavyweight (the tie-down trick was ingenious but also necessary to give him a better chance against some of the monsters he fought)). I just don't get down like that anymore.

Agreed. And I've grown leery of those who are gassing up the kid for taking on all comers (which, thankfully, does not include the Rangers' social media team).
-
This is also fair. And I appreciate it. But my better angels - or at least what I think I'm hearing when I listen to whomst I think they are - counseled me to remove the pejorative term. Thanks for doing the same.
-
Getting this thread back on track: Rempe sporting a frickin' shiner at today's practice. The kid needs to learn how to protect himself and pick his spots.

This is fair. More than fair. As I think you inferred, I was attempting to deploy irony there in order to make a point. But irony isn't a license to drop a slur. I'm going to edit my post. If those who quoted that post could do likewise (@LTS, @Weave) , that'd be great.

Again, the only point I was (am) making is that an aversion to the term and terms like it is generalized and shared, not personal to me. I don’t have an appetite for discussing the point you’ve made immediately above.
-
And by citing to the nonprofit’s worksheet and that research paper, as examples from the first page of Google results, I was pointing out that my aversion (objection) was shared by many, as opposed to being personal to me.
-
Heavens to Mergatroyd. I didn't intend anything by the images above other than to demonstrate that my aversion to the phrase "getting your bell rung" wasn't a "personal problem," as had been stated.
-
Right? So *******. (Edited to remove use of the "R-word" slur. Hat tip to @LTS.)
-
I think the use of that phrase - and others - is problematic. They date to a time when concussions weren't acknowledged and player safety was an afterthought. Wrt this being a "personal problem" of mine: https://concussionfoundation.org/sites/default/files/2021-01/CLF_Media_Project_22_Dos_013121.pdf https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5384814/

Getting cap relief from a player like McGovern seems like a no-brainer. Beane deserves a solid passing grade for that FA acquisition.

And here's how Sal M. with the Rochester newspaper frames the low-hanging fruit of salary cap management. This will be happening imminently, given that the new season starts in a couple of weeks. The Bills will gain a huge chunk of relief by re-working Allen’s contract. His cap hit will be cut in half - down to about $24 million - by converting almost all of his $23.5 million base salary into a bonus which can then be spread out in the coming years. They could also do restructures with Dawkins, White, Morse, and Johnson to free up space. The most difficult decisions will be the inevitable cutting of players and among those who would provide the most space are Morse ($8.4 million), White ($6 million), Jordan Poyer ($5.4 million), Deonte Harty ($4.2 million), Nyheim Hines ($4.9 million), Siran Neal ($2.9 million), Reggie Gilliam ($1.9 million), and Sam Martin ($1.2 million). https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2024/02/26/buffalo-bills-salary-cap-situation-2024-worst-in-nfl-heres-why/72743634007/

Fwiw - here's the FantasyPros site's aggregation of how the mock drafts, taken as a whole, are leaning for the Bills' first round selection (they provide three possible choices, with the big WR from LSU being deemed the most likely).

These GIFs are dissents from the use of the phrase bolded above.

He is going to get hurt, if he isn't already.

I have come to conclude that this is the essential and correct take on the Sabres’ current roster. I love the idea of having a player like Brady Tkachuk on the Sabres. But something seems off with the player right now. The Sabres would not be a good landing spot for him. Has it been mentioned upthread that Brady Tkachuk would need an Eichel:Knights scenario?
