I don't think you can even feel like it until you see how Allen plays once his legs start declining. Generally most running QBs fall off a cliff performance wise after the legs are done. Allen has the cannon arm to hopefully counter this, but finding open targets gets harder once the run is no longer a threat.

If his pocket play is there even when he's no longer a major threat to run, then he'll hopefully have the longevity to start Brady comparisons.

Josh won't need to run at that point, just maneuver in the pocket.

I expected nothing.  I listen to what Adams is saying and this rebuild is going to continue for years with almost all home grown talent.

Would have liked MAF or Kuemper or Husso, but that wasn’t going to happen.  Vanecek or Campbell, but that wasn’t going to happen either.

Comrie is worth a shot.  Doubt he would “block” UPL from getting a shot.  (God forbid our prospects outplay a real NHL Player).

Yeah I think a guy like Comrie is what we should have expected.  Hopefully a late-bloomer who at-worst is a bridge until Levi is ready.  I'm not high on UPL but he should get some chances.

I agree with all of this.  Seems like Adams has once again put a risky plan in place for this season. If Comrie beaks out and plays like a #1 then he made a great deal.  Otherwise we have all the same question marks as last season.

The fans are so quietly eager for Comrie to be good: good-guy underdog is the sort of of ***** we are absolutely primed to fall head over heels for.

Nobody wants to really consider the alternative right now.

What were ever the alternatives?  Did anyone think the Sabres would get an elite goalie in the off-season?

Portillo is biding his time until he is an UFA. I doubt he moves on from Michigan and I doubt he ever signs with the Sabres.

I’m with Cuz.  I don’t think this changes anything.  He’s angling for FA.

If he stays at Michigan, the more likely conclusion (to me) is that you are correct.  It's less likely (again, to me) that he'd be doing so out of loyalty to the program or to a new coach.  I also think he's afraid of Levi.

Been saying that since he decided not to sign with the Sabres.  I hope I'm wrong.

It was a Lance Lysowski tweet of something one of Davies' friends apparently posted.  Was laughing at him having to "run" to Staples (per Lance) to sign his contract.

He's played 20 some NHL games & 3 years of AHL hockey.  Does anybody HONESTLY think the kid can't AFFORD a printer?

You can work at a minimum wage job and still afford a printer.  Why his GF had to say "can't afford" is the real question.

More posts on this goalie than on Savoie.  It shows the frustration in the fan base for the overall goaltending situation on this club.

I am not a scout, and not a fan that follows Junior Hockey and the draft in the detail that some of do.  I like the pick. I think the argument that it might have been a round early is valid to a point.  I also trust that the Sabres FO  and analytics/scouting might be on to something.

No one can argue that they didn’t need to draft a goalie this year.  It could be they took the most worthy one for fear that they might not get him otherwise.   With 11 picks and 3 good looking 1st rounders this strategy is sound to me.

Well, goalie is the most important position in hockey, just like QB is in the NFL.  Not surprising there are more posts, especially when he was considered to be a reach.

But who is to say he's a reach?  is there some master rating guide?  Like with QBs, if you think he'll be good, you take him earlier than you otherwise would out of FOMO.  Seattle was obviously looking for a goalie and might have taken him just a few picks later, leaving the Sabre without (the-rated top one).

I... I...  I don't know what to say. A 22 year-old goalie who has had injury- and COVID-schedule-impacted seasons in terms of games played is no longer a prospect?

Was Tim Thomas not still a prospect at age 23? (1st NHL season age 28). Was Dominik Hasek no longer a prospect at age 22? (1st NHL season age 26, 1st Sabres season age 28)

He was drafted 5 years ago.  Time to see what he's got in the NHL.

  8. I'd take the drafting of Leinonen as a sign EP isn't going to sign, for reasons I've mentioned.  But no matter.  UPL is no longer a prospect and it's now-or-never for him.  and the guy I'm looking forward to seeing is Levi, who would also be slated to sign next year, if he's going to sign (and I think he will, but until his name is on that contract...) and who was drafted 2 years ago.

My season ticket rep is awesome sauce.

I also owe her an apology. When she phoned me to ask if I wanted her to sell me the third round now (before the season even ended). I scoffed a little and reminded her that their chances of playoffs were slim. She’s cool beans so I agreed.

She was right! I’m grateful that she hit me up because I have my tickets already and at a discount.

Amerks’ season tickets are a great deal and they make ownership of them easy and convenient.

If they could only improve concessions (train ***** wreck) they would haul in a bigger crowd.

WTF?  Was she (basically) telling you that this is all scripted?
