Three seasons.  That was the longest streak without playoffs that Sabres fans have ever had to endure.  Three.  2001-04.

Counting this soon-to-be-done season, the Pegulas have owned the Sabres for 11 full seasons.  We have not made playoffs even a single time during this ownership.

Something is pathetic here, and it's not the lack of support  from the fans.

So it's the Pegulas then, right?  You think they're intentionally trying to screw over the franchise and its fans?

Any evidence of that other than a tweet?

Nope.  Which is why I said "rumor has it."

But it wouldn't surprise me.  Terry's the hockey lover and the franchise (obviously) hasn't done well and reportedly isn't making much money.  The fans seem to hate them so might be a good idea to sell and let someone have a crack at it, allowing them to focus on the Bills, their real prize.

    His BBA.

1 year?  This this will be his 3rd year at Michigan.  He could legitimately be planning on finishing it up before going pro.

This combined with a possible desire to compete for a national championship are reasonable reasons for returning to Michigan for another season.  He also could recognize that he needs more development and thinks he can do that at Michigan just as well as in the AHL.

Meaning finishing his BBA by the end of this, his 3rd, year at Michigan.  If he's planning on finishing it completely, that's 2 more years, after which he'll definitely be an UFA. If you are thinking he could return to school for just this year and then finish it after he joins the Sabres, he could have done the same right now.

As I said before, if in a year I'm wrong, I'll admit it.  If I'm right, I won't gloat.  But the Sabres better make sure that Levi is signed, sealed and delivered next year.

He went back to get his business degree.

His MBA?  In 1 year?  No chance.  Even a BBA in 1 year is far-fetched.

I would expect the pair of them to share the crease in Rochester and may the best man win.

That is if one of them (Levi) doesn’t beat out UPL or whatever bridge goalie is sharing the crease in Buffalo.

I don't see that as an enticing option for EP.  Maybe being loaned-out, but again, why not sign with another team?

If he's scared of competition (which I doubt) then buh-bye 👋🏻.

I don't know Portillo's true motivations for returning to school, but since he decided not to come out this year, and Levi will likely sign next year, it will be up to the Sabres to decide who plays in Rochester and who plays in Cincy for the 2023-2024 season.  By all appearances, Levi is the golden child so he likely gets Rochester.  Why would Portillo sign with the Sabres if he can be an UFA a few months later?  I've heard the "burn a year of his ELC" argument, but if it's a matter of being stuck behind another prospect for a year anyway, someone you may not unseat, is that really much of a motivating factor, especially when you can sign with someone more of your liking?

Lots of different site out there that use different formulas to determine playoff odds/percentages.  Some are as simple as looking at strict probabilities based on each team having a 50% chance of winning each game.  Others take it a step further and look at a teams winning percentage vs opponents.  Even others use formulas so complicated that use various advanced stats, roster compositions, injuries, etc.

I look at 4 or 5 different sites for playoff odds...they all have vegas in the 34%-43% chance right now.

It's all just made up numbers.

But my point is that it's reasonably likely that his plan is to have his undergrad business degree by next May or perhaps next August -- not some undetermined future point after a number of years of offseason study.  For that matter, he may have decided that it will be pretty difficult to get the degree if he turns pro first, which could be a driver of his decision to get the degree first.

OK, so maybe he gets his undergrad business degree by next May-August.  By then he becomes an UFA, free to sign with anyone.

My reading of your posts is that you are asserting it's impossible for Portillo to attain a business degree by staying at UM one more year (and that, since it's impossible, the theory that getting the degree is one of his reasons for returning to school must be BS).

No, I'm actually saying the opposite of "it's impossible."  If he can plan on pursuing his degree after next year (during the off-seasons), when he ostensibly joins the Sabres, he could also do it right now.

He’ll be 22 in September and, in a few weeks, will have finished 2 academic years at UM.  This time next year it will be 3 academic years.  It’s quite possible he brought transfer credits with him to Michigan from Sweden, or that he’s been taking classes over the summer and will do so this summer and next.

Elon Musk, Steve Ballmer and Steve Jobs didn’t get MBAs.

You could certainly be right that the whole education thing is a pretext, but you keep asserting that it’s impossible, and those assertions are simply wrong.

Just to clarify, what do you think I am asserting is impossible?
