If that is all it takes you make that deal today and you don’t even blink -

I think there is no way Dallas says no to that, its just can we get him to waive. And honestly Quinn could flourish in Dallas. But I dont care, we need Marchment here, then you use 9 and prospects to bring in a D man, and still maybe move Byram for a different type of D man -

This is def the type of forward we dont have, id be all over this, especially if we use Quinn to aqcuire a defensman, Marchment would do extremley well here, out Laff and Cliffton, Hello Marchment, although I beleive he has a partial no move -
Brock Nelson resigns in Colorado 3 years 7.5 Million per year Colorado could be in need of some salary cutting trades this off season

Now there is a deal I could get wrap my head around Crouse + Kesserling for Peterka, I dont know about the pick swap cause I think Kesserling would have more value then we think. I almost think we would need to add in a Kesserling + Crouse for Peterka deal, so I dont think we would get the benefit of moving up to 4th from 9 for that. If it was the other way around and we had 4 and they picked 9th, then id say that works for me

Jason Robertson rumored to be on the trade block

There was so much smoke about Buffalo getting Robinson at one point, I have to assume we swing around and try again. I would give up an absolute ton to get him. This would be a huge pick up. The only thing is Dallas wants to cut salary so any deal would likely be for less then Robinsons salary coming back, or us taking a bad contract like Dumba back -

Mario Ferraro is the guy we have to target as the main piece coming back, San Jose should be very interested in Byram, they no defensman signed long term. Ferraro is a left handed defenseman but is sounds defensively and hits like crazy, he would be perfect beside Dahlin. Byram for Ferraro is likely an overpay for us so maybe there is something coming back, maybe one of San Jose's late firsts and then we can use it or ours in a trade -
https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/real-kypers-off-season-trade-board-1-0-players-to-watch-this-summer/ Some interesting names here, and I do think Buffalo will have to do most, if not all of there tinkering this year through trades

How would you retool this team this summer?

Rick Dhaliwal, who is a Canucks insider, said on his recent podcast he believes the Stars are shopping Jason Robertson. now there was some smoke to Buffalo being in on Robertson and almost acquiring him was it last year or the year before? I wouldnt be shocked if he is available we swing back around and try again, he is a big body winger, signed for 1 more year at 7.5 million i believe and then is an RFA. His last 4 years of points are 80,80,109,79 He was hurt in the playoffs and didnt look himself but this would be a huge pick up! Have to expect the return would sting of course, but likely Dallas wants to shed cap so maybe its less then normal becasue they want the 7.5 million in cap space. Or maybe its Peterka for Robertson and then we agree to take Marchment, Dumba or Lybushkin back as well. If it was Peterka plus for Marchment and Robertson, id do that all day! Not sure what the plus would be, 9th overal? Dont know if Dallas would need that, maybe they want to add a high pick into there prospects after Benn and Sequin and Duschene will leave soon Even if it was Peterka and Kulich for Robertson and Marchment i would do it, and I think we are a better team all day with that move -
Ya I just don't think he gets by picks 6-8, like someone is going to take him in that range I think
-
Wow if our draft came away Martin with 9 and Nestrasil at 2 that would go a long way towards upping the compete level of this team
-
Is Nestrasil tracking to be a second rounder or late first?

Sabres announce Jarmo Kekalainen Hired as Senior Advisor
ponokasabre replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
This is huge! I am so happy for the team, this is an excelent hire! He is well respected and hearing Harrington say they arent done yet, they will add more to the front office, shows that they are trying, they make mistakes, but they are trying. Lets get the stupid stanley cup finals over so we can get to the off season lol Any Jarmo favorites around the league we may look at? -
This could work very well. Id be down for something like this. Cant expect it to be UPL/Levi
-
Love this! If we can add 2 players off this list I would be ecstatic, if we keep 9 we have to get Bear or Martin

I think its interesting but i dont think they take Cliffton as that would basically break them out even from a cap perspective, and my guess is there goal is to lower cap in the move. Cliffton and Peterka would be roughly 9 million, assuming Peterka signs for 6 mill, Kreider and Schnieder would be would be roughly 8-9 million My take on it was Peterka and Ryan Johnson for Krieder, Schneider and Endstrom, we add about 10-11 million in cap there, depending on what Endstrom signs for probably 1-2 million per on a bridge. So other moves would be needed, jettisoning Lafferty and Clifton and buying out Sammulsen do just that. Then you trade Quinn for Hauge and you resign Byram, and you are set! Oh and sign Perbix as a tough 7 dman Benson-Norris-Tage Krieder-Kulich-Tuch Zucker-Mcloed-Greenway Malenstyn-Krebs-Endstrom Dunne/Kozak Byram-Dahlin Power-Schnieder Hauge-JBD Perbix/Bryson This still keeps Helenius, Östlund, Rosen in Roch and the can come up and play top 6 if there is an injury there, plus we keep the 9th pick and draft my dream Brady Martin This would be an offseason I would jump for joy over! The only concern is your top 4 defensmen would all be 24 or younger -

Has the size, skating ability, right-handed shot, poise and defensive chops to play big minutes at the National Hockey League level (for a very long time). Does not have high-end offensive acumen but that does not prevent him from logging a ton of ice time in all game situations. Also displays a physical side to his game that helps his team win hockey games. He may not be the prototypical "modern-day" defenseman, but NHL teams cannot win Stanley Cups without his type. That is Schnieders scouting report, sounds about exactly what we dont have and sounds exactly like what would flourish and make Power flourish playing beside him -

To me the other asset has to be Braeden Schnieder full stop. Top 4 right handed defensman, mean, big, 23, signed one more year at 2.2 million then a RFA That is your asset you are willing to take Krieder for. You could also try and maybe pry Adam Edstrom off there 4th line he is 24 and is 6,7 234 pounds -
I am excited to read this!

I agree with this 100 percent, Remeber we all thought Risto had no value and he was flipped for a 1st, another pick and Hagg I beleive There will always be teams willing to bet on size, I truly think there will be a hockey trade type of swap for him, I cant think of who that player might be, but I do think its possible
-
Me too! Norris is so talented. Remember everyone thought Byram was injury prone and then he plays 82 games for us this year, I know his injury history is a risk, but he is an extremely talented player that once people start to see what he brings, no one will be upset with that trade anymore Now i thought Rossi had high end compete and was labeled as a poop disturber coming into his draft year? Am i not correct on this? I dont exactly remember all I know I was screaming Rossi at the tv when we picked Quinn
-
I think its more about that Aitcheson is just something we don't have in the hard to play against role Its also extremely possible that after the summer we wont have Byram or Samuelsson here, so suddenly left side of the D looks weak I am more on the Martin or Bear train of we keep 9
-
It makes sense for a team that needs to win now Most of the time that would not make sense, but Buffalo needs to win now, and Weegar, yes 31, is the exact kind of defensman we dont have and the exact that we need. We dont need another 24 year old offensive defensman, we have that in Power and Dahlin. If either one of those werent here you would never make that deal. But we have (like it or not) made our bed with Dahlin and Power and we need to build around them.

Defenders of interest, who could bolster the defense
ponokasabre replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Ill say this, I prefer Schnieder, as I think him next to Power would be great for many years to come, but i could be down with Byram for Miller + Rempe to shore up the 4th line and add a bit of toughness up front I still would do Quinn for Hauge And then I think a deal with NYI for Mayfiled/Pulock or Kovacevic from New Jersey or even Samberg from Winnipeg (they probably will re-sign him as they likely let Ehlers walk. I think the most likely is a deal with NYI Islanders, they will sell off one or more of there defensemen for futures and thats something we need to be all over K Miller - Dahlin Power - Mayfield/Pulock Hauge - JBD Bryson, Perbix as extras And id lean Mayfield from the Island as he has the smaller contract and the cap fit of this defense would be very nice But yes Sammy and Cliffton have to go -
Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department
ponokasabre replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Dudley would just be such a big win for this franchise, and it all makes sense, local guy, could sorta semi retire while still helping in the shadows, his former and local team, I mean and from a professional stand point it would be quite a challenge to see if you can do what you did in Florida with Buffalo
