Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft
CTJoe replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Sure, but would be more believable if he wasn't a RW. Tage, Tuch are you top 2 RWers. Granted you could move Tage back to center and Kulich to LW but that's a lot of moving for him and Tage is betetr at RW and Kulich at center -
Really great color FINN - spotrac has Granlund's next contract predicted at 2/$9.75 million, so figured 2/$12million could get him. I'd even go 3/$18million. His last contract was 4/$20million. Really seems like Zucker Pt 2 opportunity here and we desperately need a LW (and he holds his own at C too). I wouldn't be shocked at all if we pursue him. I also wouldn;t be surprised if he wants to be out west or down south
-
Unless Zito (who should be our GM) has plans to sign Ehlers, no GM is going to be able to do this and an Ekblad signing in FLA is imminent. I'd be shocked of Ehlers signed with Buffalo - rumor has it, he was willing to be traded to BUF reently but wasn't interested n extending. Why would he be interested now?
-
Can't target/sign a d until you trade Byram; otherwise you lose even more leverage. I would target Granlund (2/$12m) or Ehlers (6/$50m). Granlund is more likley due to term of contract
-
Absurd - sure, his right - yes Plenty of time to sign him, there's no urgency and he's not being offer sheeted. There are other more pressing needs - like stocking the EHL and AHL teams. KA can't multi-task; he struggles to task TBH

Rust would be a nice idea, but Rust is a RW and Rust was -21 last year playing WITH crosby -
I expect nothing from Adams and hope to be surprised. I expect him to sit on the sidelines and hope Byram's value goes up with teams who strike out on UFA dmen. The two things he got right in recent years (Zucker and McLeod) happened significantly after UFA opened. I expect to see more signings by Jason K for Rochester than from Adams. Granted, big $ UFA signings in the early part of UFA have overwhelmingly proved to be bad decisions, BUT, you would think for once KA is fighting for his job and would be targeting some top 6 talent??
-
Why? Players should have the right who the extend with no? They may or not have a NMC but can certainly decide to negotiate a contract or not.
-
JJ likes is beer and big markets so he wanted to go to Utah........oh wait. My guess is a lot was demanded upon him by Ruff and he pouted over it. Funny thing is he's going to a coach who's tougher than rough and just shipped out a guy wouldn't work hard enough

Byram's being traded after thing shake out, sometime after the initial part of UFA when teams re-access needs. -
I think Maccelli was in the doghouse in UTAH over effort or defense or something? He was benched 6 games in a row late in the season: “We had discussions for what he has to bring. His A-game has not been as productive as it has been in the past. Right now we have competitiveness and guys who help us in different roles,” Tourigny said of Maccelli. We need less of this not more. 8 goals 10 assists last year, I'll move on.

No way STL would give up that much for Byram, UNLESS STL thinks the 4 years left on Parayko's contract isn't going to age well? It probably doesnt age well, and the fact he's a RHD doesn't make that much sense in a trade for Buffalo -
Josh Allen should try and recruit Mitch Marner and I'm only half joking
-
What don't you like about him? Not being a donkey, I honestly don't know him all that well with him playing out west.
-
I disagree 100%. Lindy doesn't nor know players in the draft. He knows the "type" of people he want and probably dictates that to Adams and the scouts, but he's not throwing individual names at the scouts/Adams. He ahs 1 year left on his contract, how much player personel power can he really have. Best case scenario, he gets the team to the playoffs, he scares Toronto in the first round and he rides into retirement, maybe with a consultant role for Buffalo. Likely otucome, the Sabres improve to mid 80 in points, miss the playoffs, he retires, Adams' contract expires and he retires, Jaro takes over and hires his own coach.

Here's a name we should be discussing and I don't think we have: Mikael Granlund Center, LW Age: 33 2024/25: 22 goals, 66 Points Contract Projection: 2 years, $4.975 million -I think he'd certainly be an upgrade on our left side top 6 and he can also play center, sort of of 2025 Zucker but a bit better. Gives us experience and wouldn't break the bank. Not a defensive dynamo but certainly not on Petera's level. -I think he would outpoint Peterka while providing more accountability at a cheaper price tag. He also contributes on both special teams units and is describes as "middle-six winger on a contender who can handle top-line duty on a weaker roster," This has "sabres written all over it," -He'll have suitors, I think 2 years/$12million is a good offer. He's coming off a contract that paid him $20miliion over 4 years. Thoughts?
-
Yep - that's typical for a 3rd rounder. Hopefully he ends up being a solid bottom pair guy, that would be a win
-
Theoretically they could trade with Ottawa to get back their 2nd round pick, but they're not that sophisticated
-
The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?
CTJoe replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Probably correct. it's hard to acquire differences makers with a mandated "stay $10million under the cap." Pegula missed that economic 101 class where it takes money to make money. -
Great player but we're not adding another $9million d contract when we have Dahlin and Power priced what they are Agreed 100% - worth a call KEVIN

Prob too late for Prov rights as UFA basically starts in 5 1/2 hours. prov also reminds me too much of Risto - not enough hockey IQ -
Brings Quinton Byfield back into the conversation. Byrum and Oslund for Byfield should be good for everyone

I think Byram is as good as gone. Adams never would talk about "possibly" trading a player and not trade him. It may take a day or so after UFA opens as teams who didn't get the UFA dman that they wanted might reach out to Adams. Unfortunately there's Adams excuse for not being active in UFA right away, other than at Goalie. He won't sign an UFA dman or forward not knowing if Byram is going to be traded (and for whom)? We'll see his normal "rochester UFA signings) -

Byram. CLB is losing Proporov so needs a D. They also don't have cap issues.
