  1. He's a useful player as a 4C who can occasionally move up to 3C as needed. One thing I can say about Krebs is that he gives full-effort every shift, and I very rarely notice him for negative reasons. Offensively, he's pretty limited. He'll probably never be a 40-50 point guy, but for what we need him, he's fine being a 25-30 point guy as a 4C/3C who can agitate and disrupt the other team.
  2. This organization's biggest problem is we're stuck in that hellscape where we're not bad enough to draft really high and blow up the front office, but not good enough to make the playoffs. The roster has enough talent to hover just below the playoff-level by year's end, but they are not good enough as a team to play at the level needed to get over the hump. In the macro, they're just good enough that KA can sell Terry on the never-ending "process" and bounce from year-to-year without significantly improving the roster to a level that they can finally get over the hump. Just kicking the can down the road every summer. He's hellbent on doing it with "his guys" when his guys have shown for 3-4 years that they are not good enough. I had a twinkle of hope in early March when they were spiraling that maybe the implosion would be enough for Terry to recognize that seismic changes are needed in the organizational structure to move the team forward, but as has been their M.O., they start playing well when it's too damn late to matter. So, KA probably sells him on this late surge being them "figuring it out" and we just run it back yet again with only a minor addition or two. A competent GM would recognize that we still have fatal flaws on this roster that cannot be fixed in house and would attack those gaps relentlessly in the offseason. A competent owner, a serious hockey organization, would recognize that the current GMs plan is not going to work and would move on. But again, this is not a serious hockey organization.
  3. I'd say cross your fingers, but this has been a trend 4 years running. 2021/22: 16-30-8 through Feb, finished 16-9-3 2022/23: 33-31-6 through Mar 21, finished 9-2-1 2023/24: 23-26-4 through Feb 15, finished 16-11-2 2024/25: 27-35-6 through Mar 21, 7-1-1 since Every year, this team turns it on at some point over the last 2 months, but each time their poor play over the previous 4-5 months rendered it too little, too late. This is a roster with talent, but there is very obviously something missing preventing them from being able to play sustained good hockey for long enough to get to the postseason. They need to identify where those gaps are (and I think anyone with any hockey sense can see them) and use this summer to improve those areas. Will they? I doubt it, because for the 4th season in a row KA will almost assuredly look at the last few weeks and take that as this team "figuring it out." Spoiler alert: It's not.
  4. Just realized the Sabres have 6 hat tricks this season. They had just 2 last year. (They had 8 in 2022/23).
  5. Tage stays on this heater, 50 ain't outta the question.
  6. Lookin' like storm troopers with that empty net...
  7. The Bruins are absolute ass. It's great to see.
  8. Yeah, a couple of weeks of good play when any pressure has been removed does not negate 5+ months of mediocre/bad/wretched play. Sadly, I expect this outfit to, once again, buy into this version of the Sabres and make minimal changes. Lather, rinse, repeat.
  9. Yeah. Not falling for this again. I'm sure if they don't make some significant changes they'll be the same frustrating bunch in OCT/NOV/DEC they always are.
  10. God, totally forgot there was a game today. Anyway, always nice to beat Tampa.
  11. So you bring up a young playmaking C and stick him on the 4th line w/Malenstyn and Lafferty?
  12. If we have serious plans on making the playoffs next year, you CANNOT rely on UPL/Levi carrying you. Neither have proven enough at the NHL level to have any kind of confidence in them being good enough. Could they be good enough? Sure, they've both flashed ability. But neither has been consistent enough to tie your entire season to them. A serious hockey organization would be shopping for a steady veteran to hold the fort down. But as I've said many times - this is not a serious hockey organization. They have "concepts of a plan", but no real plan, to use the parlance of our times.
  13. Wings lose in OT to the Blues. Sad they got a point, but ay least they didn't get two.
  14. Yeah, he looked like the same guy that wore blue and gold. Maybe this is just who he is. Unfortunate, I really liked him and he seems like a great kid; but there's something really lacking in his game.
