He will hang on to UPL and Levi until the bitter end. I'm not writing either off, by any means. Both have shown enough flashes of ability to see there *might* be something there. But goalies are funny, man. And tying entire seasons to young/unproven goalies is not something you can do if you're serious about getting to the playoffs. It's a total dice roll. And if they go into next season with an expected Levi/UPL tandem, then they are not serious about it again. I'm sure they'll keep Reimer on again as the latest version of the greybeard plan B like Anderson, and (not really greybeard) Comrie. If Levi & UPL pull it together, they may have a chance. If it's another year of spotty results and having to fall back on the aged guy to stop a spiral, it'll be yet another wasted year. They could start by getting them a decent goalie coach. That might help. This has been the fatal flaw in Adams's plan. Too much is being banked on the production of young guys.

I did, too; but I never thought they'd get this bad. They are in horrible shape and I don't see how they get better with the contracts they gave out to their grey beards. That Karlsson trade was an enormous mistake.

Yeah, I've been pretty much expecting it, but thought maybe if they collapsed hard it would force some change. But per usual, they start winning when it doesn't mean anything. So, endless hamster wheel. I do prefer watching wins though, so in torn.

I suspect ambivalence is some of it. Pens are really bad, though. Also, nothing to play for, no pressure, so they're playing loose. Which I'm sure will convince Adams again no big changes are needed. Yippee.

Good to see we're doing the late season false hope things again.

They've played a lot of backup goalies. Given a long enough timeline, this team will always regress to the mean because it's still a poorly constructed roster with too many soft spots. In other words - they're not very good. There's enough individual talent to cobble together a nice run for a short time, but they're not a good enough team to sustain it. I'll enjoy these wins where we can get them, but I'm not getting sucked into "what if" and "if only" with this bunch. They've shown too many times who they are. There's a lot of work to do to get over that hump.

Always great to beat the Sens. Two straight against two good teams because, sure why not? A lot of good work by Reimer. On to the next one.
