Adams won't get fired in season. He's Terry's boy. If this season ends up disappointing (i.e. missing the playoffs), I think there's a chance they move on. They will continue to lean on the "young team" excuse until these guys are all approaching their 30s.

Yep. It's time to stop calling this a "young team." By age, they're the youngest team in the NHL, but this core is going on the 3rd to 4th season together. They have experience. The "youth" excuse has run out. It's time to start seeing real, tangible results.

out of another frustrating loss, I did see one thing promising - I think Peterka could be a 40+ goal guy this year. Great hands and a good shot. He's been the lone bright spot so far IMO.

5x5 this is a pretty solid hockey team. Problem is, their special teams are absolutely horrific and unless they can at least climb their way to "not catastrophically bad", they have zero chance of being a competitive team for the playoffs.

Wasn't a fan of giving Upie that deal when it happened. He was good last year, sure, but how many times does a young goalie have a good year that he can never replicate? If he reverts back to his struggling form, you're stuck paying him $4MM+ for the next 5 years to watch Devon Levi. Add in that he gave long term deals to Cousins & Muel that they're struggling to live up to and Adams should really be in the jackpot this season. They don't turn it around, he should be out the door. I'm hoping really hard that these guys come on and do end up making those deals look good, but the early returns are not good.

I mean, hooray that he realizes it sucks, but this isn't rocket science. You have five guys, they have 4. You SUCKED past year. Look at that and DON'T DO THAT. To have zero PP goals and leaking shorties 5 games in is inexcusable.

We say that a lot, but honestly with the cap going up again, those contracts won't cripple them. It's not like they're $9-11MM a year deals (aside from Dahlin). Will they be good contracts as far as ROI? Too early to tell, but they aren't trending the right way presently.

Does anybody know who's in charge of the special teams? Surely it's not Matty freakin' Ellis again. Whoever it is needs to be swapped out. I know as fans we're prone to hyperbole, but this really isn't - the Sabres special teams right now might be the worst I've ever seen. Every time we either go on the man advantage or kill, I just assume we're letting in a goal. For as bad as they were last year, it goddamn malpractice that they're somehow worse this year. ***** figure it out.
