0/24 in points. Name a serious hockey organization whose goal was the playoffs that stood pat and watched 12 straight losses pile up without making a single substantive move. This org is so criminally mismanaged it's mind boggling. -

Family got in town, so been out with them. Checking in on the score, needless to say I'm not surprised. This is failure in motion. -
One of the only guys willing to get dirty. That ain't ideal.

This is the most egregious. Who thought that atrocity was a good idea?

Sabres have to win one again eventually, right? We get Dahlin back. Send all the Laffs fans home sad and embarrassed that they lost to a team that lost 11 straight. Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with a cherry on top? -
I suppose it's their job to try to convince us there's still a chance for them to get into the playoffs, and that is technically true, I guess; but they have to play ELITE hockey the rest of the season to do it. I'm curious how many teams have dealt with double digit losing streaks in a season and still made the playoffs in the modern era. I'd venture to guess it's not a big number.

The Cleveland Clowns set a pretty high low bar post-rebirth. We still have a little way to go to equal their abject ineptitude, but we have some momentum.

I've been saying that the single biggest issue with salvaging this season is Adams' tunnel vision. He's too attached to "his guys" to objectively improve the roster. The prospect clutching is preposterous. He won't break up any of this core because he brought most of them in and is stubbornly insistent that they can get the job done despite a season and a half of data that says otherwise. The playoffs were the stated goal this season. Yet here we are near the bottom of the league and in a death spiral. Any serious hockey organization would recognize its flaws and make moves to salvage the season. But not our Kev, he's going down with his ship. And we're all left to witness a 14th straight season (already a record) of no hockey past the second week of April.

Admire? No. It's not their job to force change. It's their job to go out and give 100% effort every practice, every game. They're very well compensated to do so. What change? Well, ownership isn't changing, so strike that immediately. Everything under that needs an overhaul. The thing is, this owner needs to be out of hockey ops. We need a POHO to hire the GM who then shapes the roster and hires a coach to lead them. I realize it's a double edged sword in that TP would be the guy to hire a POHO and his track record gives no indication he would hire the right guy, but somehow they have to find one that can assemble a competent operations staff under him.

We're a farm team for other NHL teams' future stars. Guys cut their teeth here developing some skills and learning how NOT to play, then go onto other organizations and are taught how TO play. Look around the NHL at how many former Sabres are now solid contributors if not stars. Then look how many have hoisted the Stanley Cup over the past few seasons. It's eye opening and depressing as hell.

It's not about the difference it would have made, it's the principle. The team is REELING and they get a day off? The sheer optics of that are wild. How do you get better from NOT practicing? IIRC they also cancelled practice last week after the Avs meltdown. This is not something a team that is serious about winning, or knows what needs to be done to win does.

I don't know whose call it was initially, but there were multiple layers of failure in allowing it to happen. If it was TP's call, somebody/anybody that gives a damn should have had the balls to step in and say "appreciate that, boss, but we really NEED to practice." That could have been GMKA, Lindy, or if not one of them, somebody on the damn team, preferably a guy with a letter on his jersey. I have a hard time thinking that Pegula (if he made the call) would "punish" anybody for wanting to practice and try to get ***** better. That each of those levels failed to do so tells me there is a leadership void the size of ***** Siberia in this organization.

Bottom line - this isn't a serious hockey organization. Cancelling practice the day before a game while ensnared in a 10 game losing streak tells us that. Who does such a thing? The Sabres, that's who. They have an owner who has proven time and again to be completely clueless about hiring the right people. They have a GM that never had any business being one and has terminal tunnel vision. I love Lindy, but he is very clearly NOT the right coach for this team and the "coaching search" this summer was a farce. Until they hire someone who is actually serious AND capable of building a winning hockey team it's just going to be groundhog day...over and over again. Each mounting loss and management debacle pushes more and more fans away and makes the task of winning them back more difficult.
