The Sabres will render the Avs toothless!

Well done Doohickie but I was expecting you take this further replacing Yukon Cornelius in the story with our very own Yukon Dylan Cozens and instead of singing "Silver and Gold" he could sing "Blue and Gold" for the win.  The island of mismatched toys could be replaced by the island of loyal Sabre fans (always waiting for next year).

Hoping we get some breaks tonight and another win.

  2. I'm happy for Anderson.  That was a well deserved shut out.

When the team breaks out it breaks out quick.

I have to say that when I see the kid line of Cozens, Quinn, Peterka click like they did on that goal, it makes me feel proud like a parent seeing my kids do well.  I guess it's because we've been waiting for team success and it's nice to see them dominate at times showing better times are ahead.

    A few things:

I don't think that GMKA values goaltenders the way we do.  He was on a team without a real #1 but had someone get hot at the right time.

I wonder if that's a correct statement about Adams value in goalies.  The year that Carolina won the Cup, Martin Gerber was the starter and rookie Cam Ward came in and eventually won the Conn Smythe ...............but as many will remember they never would have beat the Sabres if they didn't have Gerber step in.  So maybe he sees the value in having a strong tandem.....................which we clearly don't have today.

He turned down an $8M AAV extension.  That might be too rich for my blood -- he looks like he is having contract-year-itis with a shooting percentage of 21.5, which is 35% above last year's.

That says to me that it's more than just money.  Vancouver doesn't look close so it may that he's looking for his best chance at winning a Cup perhaps.

One or two people have asked me about how to put someone on Ignore recently.  Ignore can be a useful utility.  If you find that a particular poster brings out the worst in you, the Ignore feature can help you get past their posts without engaging and showing your bad side.  If you want to Ignore someone, you can (on a desktop browser) hover the cursor over the poster's information, like thus:

    image.thumb.png.9085b52322cac708c8f8305b4de3d6ea.png

And a menu pops up with options at the bottom.  At the bottom right is Ignore.  If you click on that, it brings up this screen:

    image.thumb.png.7755d67ed2ac672656f21a3d6e945f30.png

Check the boxes of the content of theirs you want to Ignore, and click Update Preferences.

Another way to get there is to go to the down arrow next to your username in the upper right corner of the screen:

    image.thumb.png.da1ba5fc4cbcbc8c91859adf4ffc156e.png

And go to Ignored Users.  If you go that way, though, you will need to begin to key in the name of the person you want to ignore until their username pops up.  Note that through this Ignored Users screen you can also unclick content you are ignoring from a user, in other words, take them off Ignore.  So it's not final.

Personally I put people on ignore when I notice they trigger me.  Their posts still show up in the thread but they're masked over so you can't see them.  If you click on it it will give you the option to just view that post or to take them off ignore.  After putting them on ignore I will sometimes peek at their posts.  I prepare myself mentally for it.  Sometimes it's a confirmation of yeah, that's why they're on Ignore, and sometimes it is a valid point and I might answer.  If the valid points start to outweigh the stuff that pisses me off I will take the person off ignore.  But using the function helps me build up a tolerance for that person's.... personality.

The point of this forum, at least to me, is to have fun.  If it's not fun, the Ignore function can filter out the people that are stealing your fun.

I have to say that I've never felt compelled to ignore another poster but I can see it being useful for some situations.  I try not to take things personally but some of the debates on here do seem to get that way.

That being said, I have worked with some real challenging personalities in the past and a couple of people now.  If you could generate a "in person live ignore button" that would be great.  Maybe have some nice music play while you pretend to listen to them.

  6. There's been some great highlight goals this season for sure.  That's great.

Like many I have been critical of Adams for not acquiring a proven goaltender.  That being said I don't think this is our only problem as the defense is pretty weak on many of the goals against too.  Lots of games where you have a "big sigh" on the play.  Seems like another year of "pure development" and "wait until next year" to see how good we will be.  That feels okay with players like Quinn, Peterka, and Power who are contributing but not so much with Bryson, Fitzgerald, and UPL where we should have been able to do better without breaking the bank (or development plan).  Let them continue developing in Rochester.

Peterka sure looked fast last game on that one play. I'd love to see him race Cozens

At the drop of the puck I have always been impressed at how fast Cozens moves.  Right from his first rookie camp it was really noticeable to me.

Peterka is fast and shifty as well.  I forget which game it was now but I remember Peterka had the puck driving down the ice hear the other team's bench and he went around the player trying to check him like a pylon.

They are certainly a fun trio (Cozens, Peterka, Quinn) to watch in the last few games.

  8. Is there more to the story with Savoie?  Getting the invite doesn't mean you make the team.  Would seem low risk to me for Canada to have brought him to the selection camp this month.  He should have more talent than some of the others on the invite list.

  9. Tokarski was not the answer but he was a better option to sign than Subban in my opinion.  Tokarski has limited talent but earned his keep in his time with the Sabres.

Sad to see how this situation has turned out again this season.  We are left with hoping that Comrie somehow finds his game during his recovery time and that Levi signs at the end of the year and exceeds expectations by not needing a year in the AHL.  We need a better plan.

  10. Chychrun certainly has a great shot when he's playing well.  I too wonder about his overall health.  He's never played a full season of 82 games.  Some players just seem injury prone (think about Bogosian who was never healthy when we needed him).  I would definitely consider a trade for him but most likely not at Arizona's reported ask.  It will be interesting to see what they get for him when the trade does go down.

The Ruff era in Buffalo is over with. Our roster is loaded with young players. What it needs is a coach who leans toward the development side of coaching. There is a time and a place. In Buffalo it's over with. Nostalgia is nice but what is in the past is in the past. Looking backwards for solutions is not the right road to take.

Yes I agree that the Ruff era is over with and I don't see the Sabres bringing him back in a head coaching role.

That being said, I listened to Ruff's interviews pre and post game.  I still love to see him do well.  He was rumored to be close to being fired last season and on the short list before the Devils season started.  It's great to see him to continue to adapt his coaching skills.  Looks a bit older and wiser.  Wish him all the best..................but hoping the Sabres find a way to get a few more breaks in the next game against them.
