  1. Thinking back to the 2005-7 teams, how far away are the prospects in Rochester that they could play effectively in middle-6 roles for an extended period of time?  It is tragicomical that the line-up can look so much worse when 1 top-9 forward gets hurt.  Who can be Stafford, Paille, MacArthur, Novotny, or even Kaleta?

  2. I wonder if they rotate in Robinson, Krebs, or Girgensons on that top line if Okposo needs the odd shift off.l

As I typed that, it hit me that this might be the ideal time to get Krebs playing with more skilled guys to see if something gets unlocked

I find the "soft" talk - both here on this bard and elsewhere on teh interwebs (Twitter mainly) - to be ... well, not what I'd prefer to see from fellow Sabre fans. That's putting it as charitably as I can.

The player being "injury prone" is a fair discussion, or even observation.

But soft? The guy's not soft. He's unlucky, apparently. And, yes, probably injury prone. Dude had to pack it in so that he could get surgery. But that doesn't make him soft.

I advise everyone to take a look at the number of games Jim Schoenfeld played each season during the 1970's.  He was not soft, but he missed a packet of games each season.  We need someone like him now.

    WNY food is elite

The late John Nathan-Turner, former producer of Doctor Who, and his spouse, Gary Downie, said that Buffalo has great bar food.  A tribute to JNT and Buffalo is in the episode "Voyage of the Damned", where the food in the bar on the main table was all his favourite Buffalo finger foods.

As an Amerks season ticket holder I can tell you that yes, they are pretty good. The problem is that their players are exactly what the Sabres already have. Small, decently skilled, pretty good speed but soft as h*ll. They are the exact same team, PP is terrible, PK is terrible and 5 on 5 is pretty good. Nobody here is replacing anyone there because they play the exact same game.

    Welcome to the board!

Thanks for that perspective.  As we all suspect, GMKA will need to tear himself away from his attachment to his prospects before the team can become better-rounded.

Actually, maybe they can't, not as a team.  What does the contract say exactly?

Not officially.  They could agree to meet at the rink and practice face-offs, defencive positioning, and so on without the coaches and not at Sabres' facilities.  That probably would be frowned upon by the NHLPA, though.

    Never give in!

It is certainly not mandated that the players go on a vacation. Time off, sure.

    That shut me up fast

PA is correct.    They could, in theory, still work on their games.

Yeah i'm gonna be that Old  person that yells at a cloud..

But I can't be the only one that is annoyed with this team Going to cabo for the "break" When they did absolutely nothing to deserve a vacation.

I mean holy s*** Don't they get enough vacation time when they aren't  in the playoffs .

You would think maybe they would come together and be like you know what guys let's Practice everyday instead of taking the vacation so we're ready .

Never mind it's probably all the alcohol that's flowing through my veins

It is part of the SPC.  It was negotiated for by the NHLPA.  No exceptions.

Sabres are tied for 6th in regulation wins in the conference lol

8th in regulation or OT wins

    Tied for 10th in wins

    Tied for 13th in points

…So we aren’t getting enough OT wins, S/O wins, and loser points. Those are getting subbed for outright losses

Regulation losses: tied for 2nd last

I stumbled across this earlier this weekend.  It sucks that the Sabres can't get critical goals to tie games to send them to OT because that is one of the primary differences with the teams above us.

I know there is a lot of frustration being thrown at the lack of moves by Adams, by me too, but there is no way they are running it back next season. Absolutely no chance.

I don't think they will be super quiet come trade deadline, but this summer is very important for them. Gotta shake this team up. I wish it was with the coach as well but at the very least player wise.

I hope that you are right, but I am not confident.
