If it does, does it say it is society's burden once you do?

Is it a coincidence that the Wings GM is named Holland? Is this story really about him vice Pegula?

I'm trying to get my head around on this statement. Since the act of having children is completely voluntary as is the decision not to have children is (assuming opportunity), I can't subscribe that it is societies cost to bear or share for children. Unless you can follow the Chinese model that ensures an equal opportunity cost, this strikes me as unbalanced, unfair and unworkable. What I do think is society's responsibility is to afford equal access to all for things such as education, medical care, safety and employment opportunity.

The meandering of conversations never ceases to amaze me in this thread. I love how it just rolls along from topic to topic influenced by the reality of the world we live in. The discourse is top notch, essentially self moderated and informative. Well done people. In my ideal world, minimum wage jobs would be for the under 20 and over 60 crowd (who wish to stay active/busy in life). During peak earning years, they would be a voluntary supplement to income and not the sole basis of income. However, as life reminds me seemingly daily, I do not live in my ideal world. With the loss of manufacturing jobs in this country, it seems unlikely we will be able to build a wage-grade, working income lifestyle anymore.

There has been no interest on savings accounts for so long now that my children have grown up never releasing that it once existed. How crazy is that?

They are in a vice to be sure. Their handling of other cheating issues and their domestic violence issues will keep them on the hot seat.

"The Mason–Dixon line (or Mason's and Dixon's line) was surveyed between 1763 and 1767 by Charles Mason andJeremiah Dixon in the resolution of a border dispute involving Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware in Colonial America. It is still a demarcation line among four U.S. states, forming part of the borders of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and West Virginia (originally part of Virginia). It represents the cultural border between the Southern United States and the Northern United States." from Wiki

By common definition, south is below the Mason Dixon line which means Maryland and below

Move them to Mississippi. They could use the cash infusion.

Okay. But, the facts are the facts in this state. It matters not one wit to me what a red state does. This is as deep blue as it gets. And the Democratic regime here hasn't done diddly for the inner city. I don't believe a republican administration will be any better and I am banking it will get much worse for the inner city. My point was, if the Democrats can't fix it, it can't be fixed. Republican votes come from the burbs, democratic votes come from the cities.

LOL... On my no pick list were a WR, TE, RB and CB. They took one of each

Not sure what your point is. No amount of money seems to be able to fix Baltimore. As the city's tax base erodes, those left there are forced to shoulder a greater amount of the tax burden. Meanwhile firehouses close, school budgets shrink, and the blight spreads. I am at a loss to explain where all the money in Maryland goes. It sure does not go to Baltimore. The new governor, a GOPer, claims we are in a massive deficit left over from O'Malley (the Presidental wannabe) and is cutting services to the city. It's crazy here.

Seriously? a RB... I now confirm I have no idea what this team needs. What is the infatuation with Florida?

The only thing that is staggering is how long it took for the rest of the world to catch on. Maryland has enjoyed a Democratic Governor (more times than not), Democratic Mayor, Democratic Common Council, Democratic State Assembly (both chambers), Democratic Congressional Delegation (both chambers) and is one of the higher tax states in the country. And still the city and its residents have slid down into this hole where entire neighborhoods are boarded up. In theory, Democrats are supposed to be the more caring party when it comes to social issues. I'm amused by all the social engineering and advice that is being spewed in this thread. As if anyone of us has a clue. The city and its blight resists all attempts to fix it. No person, black, white, brown or other is safe to walk the streets of this city after dark. Guns are everywhere and are used seemingly nightly. The only safe zone is the inner harbor. Go to Johns Hopkins in the city. Just look at how many cops (rentals) are posted around every parking garage and street corner. They literally post security on every street corner 24/7/365. JHU bought up land in the heart of the killing fields. It takes a literal army to protect visitors from the poverty and desperation that is as close as a block away. I genuinely don't believe there is a fix for Baltimore. It is the Detroit of the Eastern Seaboard. Any manufacturing that was here is long gone. The only commodity this city has is boarded up row homes. It is no wonder it erupted. The police gave them the justification. But really, it could have been just about anything.

The four positions I wanted them to stay away from in this draft were: CB, RB, TE and WR. I want to see QB, OL, DL and LB

I don't hate it... I just don't like it... There's a difference.

In a stunning development the Bills take a CB. A CB... Seriously....

I find the discussion on whether we would be a kinder gentler society if more females were in charge interesting. The Mayor of Baltimore faced a crucible last week. She choose to have her officers stand down. A lot is being said and written in Baltimore if she was too placid in her reaction and response. Here is an excerpt from a local conservative blog (conservativetribune, com). It is from a neighboring county sheriff's point of view. He was on scene, but not in the thick of things: Begin quote "According to WJZ, Lewis said he was told by several city police officers that there were orders from on high to not “confront or accost” any of the rioters, something he said was simply unheard of. “I was sick to my stomach like everybody else,” he explained. “This was urban warfare, no question about it. They were coming in absolutely beaten down. The (city officers) got out of their vehicles, thanked us profusely for being there, apologized to us for having to be there. “They said we could have handled this, we were very capable of handling this, but we were told to stand down, repeatedly told to stand down,” he said. Lewis admitted that he was never given a direct order to stand down, as he and his men had simply gone straight to their assigned post, but that many officers, including some high-ranking ones, relayed the order to him. “(T)hese guys told me they were essentially neutered from the start. They were spayed from the start. They were told to stand down, you will not take any action, let them destroy property,” said Lewis. The law enforcement veteran with 31 years of experience continued, “I had never heard anything like this before in my life and these guys obviously aren’t gonna speak out and the more I thought about this … I had to say a few things. I apologize if I’ve upset people, but I believe in saying it like it is.” Lewis went on, sharing some of what he heard through the Baltimore PD radio that he had with him, keeping tabs on the situation. “‘Stand down, stand down, stand down! Back up, back up, retreat, retreat!’ I couldn’t believe those words. Those are words I’ve never heard in my law enforcement vocabulary,” he said." End Quote The mayor has been on the defensive from the get go. She claims the press was taking her words out of context.
