GREAT defensive play by Kotalik ... saved a goal ... that's as good as scoring to make it 4-1
Agreed. He saved one. Miller has robbed them a couple of times tonight too.. Getting good goal tending tonight.
-
Vanek scored while Rob Ray was talking up the Lightning coach. No live RJ call. Seemed surreal.
Vanek is on fire.
We are now starting to take control of the game.
Buffalo:    Tampa: :death:
Goal is being reviewed. 3 goals in 6 minutes if it holds. Long review. It counts... 2nd shot this game put home off of the boards.
-
I'm impressed with Paille's wheels.. This kid can flat out fly..
-
Two quick Buffalo goals:
Gaustad hacks in a rebound off of the boards and Paille gets his 2nd career goal deflecting one past the goalie
Buffalo:   Tampa: :death:
Way to go Sabres...
Great saves by both goalies in this period...
-
i sense another home loss tonite, i hope im wrong...1-0 TB.>>WTF!!!!!
I thought they won the first fifteen minutes even with the penalties. The last five was another story. Tampa had better legs and had a full two minutes in our zone on that PP.
-
Dang.. After some great Sabres play,
Sabres are down on a deflection from the point.
Buffalo: Tampa: :death:
Good Buffalo pressure but too many passes...

Kotalik's cap number is $2.33, Seabrook $0.942 ... so about 1.4 mil or so ... in theory ... ain't gonna happen straight up.
Well now... That does provide some room... Mr Kotalik this fan would sincerely like to thank you for your service and all that you have meant to the Sabres. I wish you the best of success in Chicago.
-
I've been reading the Kotalik for Seabrook rumors all day as well. In the end, we may need to make this type of move due to injuries increasing our cap number to the point where we have to trade someone.
Does anyone know how much cap relief we would get?

I guess I was lucky to miss the game Saturday night. I was doing periodic updates on my Blackberry so I knew score-wise when it turned south, err north.
I'm encouraged that the Sabres are getting some of their walking wounded back.
We catch a break in that Tampa played and traveled last night. Tampa appears to have been smoked yesterday by the NYR. Hopefully right team at the right time.

Last night's game was the best game they have played in a very long time. It was the type of game that folks on this board have wanted to see. No doubt they didn't do everything right, but they:
1. played a respectable opponent and controlled the play for good chunks of time
2. played Defense throughout the game.
3. got good action out of three of their four lines
4. didn't take stupid penalties.
5. played man-up when Pitt turned it in to a good-game at times.
6. had decent goal tending with a few spectacular saves.
7. didn't let the lead slip away
8. didn't give up their four goals against average (of late)
9. got a couple goals for guys in a drought
10.avoided a losing streak.
Pitt came out motivated in the second and went into the 2nd intermission down by another two goals. Max's ability to skate must scare the hell out of opponents. And this year, he is cashing in. This will be a different team that faces Ottawa tonight.

The day of reckoning is finally here for Ottawa:
Two games ago the team hack (lawyer) was in Buffalo. He looked pissed that the team played well enough to stall the grim reaper.
Owner gives coach the dreaded "vote of confidence"
1 game ago owner gives team a pep talk.
They respond by falling behind NJ 3-0 and lose 3-2.
Now home in front of some unhappy fans and media. THE Sabres victory drops them to 20 points points behind the Sabres with 20 played and virtually the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
Too bad I'll miss it. Going to see Larry the Cable Guy live... Git-R-Done!.. "I don't care who you are, that's funny"
-
drury had his best game in a long time. How much of this is the presence of Max? Teams had to match two lines tonight, not just one.
-
Just like that EMPTY NETTER KOTALIK
Buffalo:     Pittsburgh: :death: :death:
Solid game...
16-2-1 .. Avoid first losing streak..
Bring on Ottawa..

Playing 6 on 5.. Crosby pushes rebound past biron
Buffalo:    Pittsburgh: :death: :death:
hang on guys.. hang on
-
Drury off the schneid.. Makes Crosby pay for a bad penalty
Buffalo:    Pittsburgh
Two goals when Pitt has owned the period.. Nice....
Crosby beats Campbell then Biron.
Buffalo:    Pittsburgh: :death:
Crosby earned that one
-
Out of no where great pressure.. Vanek gets his 13th
Buffalo:   Pittsburgh:
Nice. Pitt has owned this period up to that point
-
We are a much better team with Max in there. He is freezing Pitt defenders when he skates in their zone.
-
Haven't seen a picture of the bench. Miller is suppose to be there.
-
Good period by the Sabres. Great PK Too bad they took another penalty...
-
SCORE!!!! MAX IS BACK, THANK GOD
Buffalo:  Pittsburgh:
Welcome back Max.. You have been missed.
-
I've seen bruised to broken on the hand and a couple of days to two weeks on Roy.
Max may go, maybe not until Monday.
Miller may be backup maybe not play until Sat or Mon..
-
With Max maybe coming back (GR55 says he is) and Roy now out, the AVR line is in shreds. What a shame, because it will be December before they are back in a groove.
-
Ottawa gets a banked empty netter
Short handed down 4-6 UGH!
Buffalo:   Ottawa: :death: :death: :death: :death:

Now that was pretty. That was a clinic on passing.
Gaustad gets his second from Kotalik and Paille.
Buffalo:     Tampa: :death:
Teppo might have gotten away with a tripping call to start that one
Spacek scores before I finish typing with a "Bullet from the point" Funk gets his first point.
Buffalo 5 Tampa 1
Denis is beginning to look used... I think this lead is safe..
