  1. I'm not going to read through this thread, so I don't know if this comment was made or not. I'm amazed at how the team won in the same exact way they did against Florida on friday night. The OT powerplay goal had the same 4 players on the ice and it was scored on the same exact play, except this time, Briere's shot got through and Vanek didn't have to pick up the rebound.

Except it took 2 more seconds 21 vice 19.. so they were obviously tired....

  2. "Martin Biron is the likely starter in goal tonight because Ryan Miller still hasn't tested a nagging muscle strain in his midsection. Miller has missed the past two games and has not skated since last Thursday."

Hmm... Beginning to think there is a bit more to this story. We went from day-to-day to "nagging" to "still hasn't tested"....

  3. Sabres are going to need five goals to win. They seem to like giving up four goals a lot. Sabres have played 10 games decided by a single goal. That's astonishing in its own right. Carolina is 5-1-1 in their last seven and seems to be getting their act together.

The only good news seems to be that they have lost all five times to teams they vanquished in last year's trophy run.

Amazing to think that this is already of third time against the Canes this year. The Sabres will be done with Carolina on 28 Dec until the playoffs.

  4. While I am not a fan of that style, it DID work for that team last night. The game was completely in Buffalo's control and then the second fight started. Right after that, Philly was energized and outplayed the Sabres for the rest of the second and most of the third. They came within a whisker of winning.... Those losses hurt as much as blowouts.. They fought all the way back, took the lead and then lost it when they got caught with too many men on the ice. You know they really wanted that game last night to "save" their season; give them some momentum. Instead, their only star ended up getting fined for yelling at the refs on an obvious call.

  5. any injuries for philly?

    Another big one:

"The biggest problem for the Flyers is they have become a one-line team, and now with Mike Knuble injured, are a two-man team when it comes to offense with just Simon Gagne and Peter Forsberg scoring and Forsberg isn't scoring as much as usual. The second line of Calder, the now injured Jeff Carter and Mike Richards has been struck in neutral all season."

With Forsberg potentially out with the flu, the Knuble, Forsberg and Gagne may be just down to Simon. Ouch.

And I just love this next quote:

"On defense, Derian Hatcher is minus-17 and Joni Pitkanen is minus-12."

Time to make Mr. Hatcher -21 tonight.

  6. Stupid Ottawa up 5-2

5-3 now.. I'm watching it during intermission. Pitt has some great pressure... Should be 5-4 but isn't.. 8 minutes to go...

Damn Ottawa just scored with under 6 to go, leading 6-3.. Back to the Sabres...

At least the Thrashers will lose tonight..
