  1. LOL... I'll have you know I grew up shoveling snow and still shovel my own snow. I actually enjoy the exercise of it. and now to the heart of your 'seriously dude' comment: I was only reacting to the fact that he grew up in Edmonton and his family is still there. He had more to say about his love for Edmonton than Buffalo. He is one of the few tradeable assets on this club. Seems like a win for everyone if we could exchange one of their 'need a change of scenery forwards' for one of ours.
  2. I'm convinced. Trade him to Edmonton.
  3. Brian Flynn on the top line ... awesome
  4. Oh.. I only lurk over there occasionally and then only during the season or when there is significant breaking news like the Mario signing. I made up my mind long ago not to get involved with folks over there.
  5. Not sure what PPP is, so no I have not.
  6. Serious question. Do you believe he knew the facts or do you believe he, like many, figured it out too late? I have no problem believing that he did think that when he first started using the phrase. I also have no problem believing that it got overtly/covertly negotiated away and they got caught flat footed when it came out. I also have no problem believing that folks in HHS knew and didn't tell him. It just strikes me as too big a gamble to take. I believe that his minions f'd him and he is taking the flak. I'm not defending him, just hypothesizing how it went down. The buck stops with him, no doubt.
  7. I just looked it up because I was curious. They'll sell you medical/ambulance insurance for 5-7/d, but I can't find what the cap is. Anyway, back to the discussion...
  8. I see the words collision and liability. I thought we were talking about medical. I rent probably 12 cars a years, if not more. I always decline the coverages which can cost 20/day or more. I don't remember if there is medical coverage.
  9. That's true.. If you do drive a car though, then... And I suspect those folks in Manhattan take a vacation now and then and rent a car.. I guess they get their medical coverage from their credit card? Rental contract? AAA? Never really thought about it. For me, car assurance has always been necessary.
  10. A car accident is covered up to your policy limits for medical. Chances are you have only 50K of medical coverage. I know first hand how fast you go through 50K. If you think that is enough, I surely hope you are not seriously injured. A few nights in ICU will go through your 50K in a blink. We have significantly more than 50K now. Lesson learned.

    Sign Vanek

    The Vanek ship has sailed.
  12. There goes the playoffs!!! or Sabres don't want to get him hurt before the trade deadline.
  13. That is my hope. My whole life I have been told by my government that deficits are bad. And my whole life, my government has piled on to said deficits without apparent regard. I'm not a kick the can kind of guy, but my government sure is. I profoundly hope that there are smarter, more dynamic and more courageous legislators on the horizon.
  14. I worry about this for my kids too, I've seen or read recently some commentary that basically states what you imply. We may be on the cusp of the first time in a long time where the subsequent generations have it far worse than the current ones.
  15. It never ceases to amaze me where this thread goes. It started with comments about the SOTU and riots in Kiev and it morphed into Obamacare, socialism, and unions. Outstanding... Carry on. I certainly resonate with those who argue that all inclusive care costs the young disproportionately. It is routinely acknowledged by the adminstration as absolutely necessary to make the whole pyramid scheme work. Obama said in the SOTU 'mothers get your kids to sign up'. I'm pretty sure that is how Blue Cross/Blue Shield worked before Obamacare. When I was young and single, I paid my premiums and never used my coverages, except dental. Now that I am older and have a family, we are gouging the system. The cycle of life. What to me is the saving grace for this legislation is outlawing dropping/refusing coverage for pre-existing conditions. That practice was so onerous. Life will eventually give us all a condition. Having a company drop your coverage just when you need it and then having another company refuse coverage because of a pre-existing condition was outrageous. Now whether that clause was/is worth the price of legislation is not clear to me and won't be for years to come.
  16. Last I checked, he has more goals than Leino does. I think he deserves Leino money.
  17. but.. but.. but... Obama needs you. Don't abandon your President in his time of need.

    Superbowl!

Peyton all the way. I don't want to see Pete Carroll win anything. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch
  19. This is consistent with some of the gripes I have heard from others. There are certain regions of the country where you have gobs of options and other areas where you have a single selection. Color me surprised that the great state of New York and its bastion of liberalism did not have a more generous plan. I blame Cuomo. Why, because it feels right.
  20. An Al Pacino line from the Godfather would have been better..
  21. drats Then how about a case of OV?
  22. Interesting. Perchance they would send OV back?
  23. I guess my feeling is no. It is expensive to run for President. Even Hillary hasn't "really" started yet, There will be a governance time and that would surely be the first 2/3rds of the term. The last 1/3rd is lame duck time. That doesn't change. Governance happens. These guys/gals in DC can't help themselves. I think we start to burn out on our Presidents after 4 years. Let them work six to implement their agenda in four and let's move on. The networks would so hate this. Think of all the lost TV ad revenue.. The other reform if they made me king for a day is the absolute mandate that the first/primary concern of Congress is to pass all appropriations on time each year. These shannigans they play with the budget each year should not be allowed/tolerated.
  24. I'll pick up on this theme. I don't recall being able to go to a web site and read the specifics of the law that were being debated in Congress. What I received were nightly news snipets and snipes that were presented to me. How is/was anyone from Joe Q Public supposed to really understand the mechanics of what was being proposed when it was never available for us to peruse?
  25. Was watching the SOTU last night and it occurred to me how ineffective BO now appears. When he first hit the stage he carried such an aura. Last night his speech and delivery seemed so stilted. The shine really came off pretty quick. I guess it is no different for any second term President. All his A team has abandoned him and he is left struggling to complete his agenda against the back drop of the next election. I'm in favor of changing the Presidental term to one six-year term.
