I don't disagree with this, but he doesn't sound like anything to get excited about.

Excited about from a Sabres perspective. No.

From an Amerks perspective, it just helps solidify the back end. Which will allow other prospects better than him to leap frog him developmentally. It’s a solid signing for the Amerks.

    Solid doesn’t = ZOMG amazing.

I'd add that Skinner was not a regular 35g man and your expectation is high, therefore he exceeds the expectation.

Same with Reinhart. He may get to 70 once maybe twice in his career. But I think he’s a 50-60 point guy. Which is awesome considering what he looked like 3 years ago! He’s developed nicely. One of my favorites on the team.

Rick Jeanneret is a cyborg that is fueled by beer. He will outlive us all and continue to work until the Sabres finally win a Cup in 2154 when all of us are worm food, our ashes blown away in the wind long ago, or sitting out in an urn on somebody's fireplace.

  4. RJ has complete control over how many games he works and where. He’s on a year to year agreement with the Sabres.

They get together after the schedule is released and figure out what games he wants to work.

As long as his health holds up, I can see him doing 35-45 games next season.

lol - good one, but can someone point me to this actual rule. I'm sure I've seen more call ups than 4 on many teams.

The 23-man roster limit is in place from the conclusion of the preseason until 12:01 am on the day of the NHL’s Trade Deadline. After that teams are allowed to have an unlimited active roster at the NHL level, provided players are signed to one of their 50 contract slots. NHL teams are only allowed to dress a maximum of 20 players – 18 skaters and two goaltenders – for any given game, but those 20 must come from the 23-player active roster.

    From CBA ...

16.4 Active Roster Size; Playing Roster.
    (a) There shall be a maximum of twenty-three (23) Players on each Club's Active Roster at any one time, provided, however, that, on the date of each season's Trade Deadline, a Club's Active Roster may be increased to any number of Players the Club, in its discretion, so determines, subject to Article 50.
    (b) Clubs are not permitted to Loan Players where the result of such Loan(s) would reduce the Club's Active Roster below eighteen (18) skaters and two (2) goaltenders. However, Clubs will not be required to Recall Players to maintain the minimum eighteen (18) skaters and two (2) goaltenders on days which they do not play an NHL Game, provided that the deficiency below those thresholds is a result of an injury that has caused the removal of such disabled Player from the Active Roster.

These stats just kill me, literally suck the life right out of me. I watch them just like the rest of ya'll, and I can't even begin to say what's wrong. I just have nothing.

My only question I guess is, how does it come to this some 4 years after we seriously started to jettison the roster? How can a team not find any chemistry, or muster any sustained energy to compete in games to win them? I'm at a loss, every game it's just messed up now.

And how does it get better anytime soon?

Have either of you come to the conclusion that it’s mainly the coaching staffs fault?

If and when you do, the results aren’t that surprising or baffling. I haven’t been “at a loss” as to why we suck most games for about 3-4 months now.

I’m not saying, implying or suggesting the roster is deep. It needs upgrades for sure, but IMO the main Achilles heel night after night is the inept coaching staff. It’s just putrid.

What stops Terry from coming in and chewing out Bots and Phil????

    This is terrible.

    1. How do you know he doesn’t?

    2. JB this season once said he talks to Terry and Kim often.

    3. So Terry or Kim vents to JB. So what?

    4. It would be a clown show if the owners vented to the coach. The owners shouldn’t be venting to any coach. That’s up to the GM.
