No.  He is at best a 3rd line D that we are paying $5 mill plus a season for.  His D zone coverage is still terrible and he had two of the worst games I’ve seen this season Feb 1 & 5th.

Yea. I’ve been in the “done with Bogo” train for over a year. No matter how long he stays healthy, I just want to move on from him.

on the topic of Sheary... did anyone think when we acquired him he would be a top 6 winger who pots 23-28 goals? If so, why did you think that? Curious to hear the reasoning.

I didn’t. Looking at prior seasons, it’s obvious he was a 14-19 goal, 15-20 assist 3rd liner who can play spot duty from time to time on the PP or 2nd line.

And I wouldn’t move him this summer. His 3 mil. cap hit is fair and reasonable for what he brings.

I would hang onto Larsson. He’s a possession monster. Great fit for the 4th line. Girgs, although I like him, I wouldn’t shed a tear if he was moved for some sort of upgrade or bring up a hungry prospect who earns a spot.

The past two games Nylander looked good.

Yep. If he stays up, we’ll see if he can bring it almost every game like he did tonight. No shifts off. No coasting. Smart and responsible in the D zone.

Understanding he’s young and developing. Not getting too down on a bad game here and there.

Stupid penalty, but embellished quite a bit, that PP though, cmon....not everything needs to go through jack

Between Eichel and Dahlin... they are the only two who can enter the zone cleanly. (For the most part).

i just hate how the coaching staff is telling them to stand around instead of constantly moving and cycling on the PP. it just doesn’t work.

dump n chase rarely works with this crew...

Is it me or is Rick a thousand % better than he was to start the season?

It’s game by game. Some games throughout the season he’s so so. Others he’s great!

it might be arena dependent too.

Some arenas he’s further away and may not see as well. Just a thought.

Schopp while extremely arrogant is fairly intelligent but his liberal bias is so obvious in any discussion. It’s always anti management pro player. He also brings race into issues where it doesn’t belong.

When I listened a couple years ago, I’ve noticed that too. Not to mention as soon as someone brings up any kind of advanced stats he doesn’t know, he gets defensive and insults caller or gives them no time to retort.

    hes lame...

Sabretooth has lost velocity on his T shirt tosses, and should be bought out at seasons end.

Hopefully tonight we get some luck, but then again, I don't care much ?

I forgot now where I saw it.... might have been a lower league game or something ... but the “t-shirt tosser” had a freakin cannon. Like literally a multi-barrel air compressed cannon and fired 4-5 t-shirts faaaaar into the crowd. They must have fired 20-25 shirts into the crowd in 60 seconds. It was awesome. I wish Sabretooth could get that thing!

For what it's worth, Chris "Bulldog" Parker on WGR-550 has slowly moved to this position as well in recent days.  He and Schopp both have been thinking Housley will be spared for a long time now...but in the last few days, Bulldog has moved to the position that he can't see how Housley can survive this mess.

I think he said something pretty close to: "I think it's inevitable now that Botterill has to fire Housley when the season ends."

I don’t listen to that hot mess otherwise known as shopp and the bulldog, but I will have to agree with that mindset. No way Phil survives. And IF JB wants to be loyal to Phil (I don’t think he will be) he’ll be gone too.

Might the outcoaching issue explain the Sabres' second periods? Or even their hot start dissipating into the abyss?

Oh absolutely. So they have a good game plan. They come out looking good! Hell, they may even score! Lol.

1st intermission happens. Opposing coach and his staff come up with a good counter punch. Phil and his staff... not so much.

2nd and 3rd period happen and Phil has no answer to the counterpunch. No effective adjustments in game and 2nd intermission. Coaches are scratching their heads and post games say something like “we didn’t execute”.

    Rinse. repeat.

  9. I’m seeing a coaching staff consistently out coached. Because I don’t see effective in game adjustments that turn the tide of periods or shifts. Sure one could say “nice shift by that line” but it’s a one off. It’s followed up with multiple poor shifts and poor periods.

The system and coaching are the Achilles heel of this team.  Followed closely by a few holes that need to be filled in the off season. I don’t think goaltending and defense (personnel) are a major factor to focus on in the off season. Maybe try to move one of Bogo, Nelson, or Scandella. I’d prefer Bogo. His salary is obnoxious for what he brings.

Sabres have the horses to dictate play with speed... but Housley refuses to play a system like Winnipeg or SJ.

We need scoring wingers. Second only to a new systems/coaching staff.

With Pominville gone, and maybe one of Sheary or Okposo, the Sabres could go after a 25-30 goal a year winger with some wheels. Playoff experience and leadership qualities would be a nice bonus.

There must have been a tweak to the 'thingies' ... I just gave you a Stanley Cup Awesome thingie.

    MUST WIN!!

    GO SABRES!!

At least they scored last night.  Not just once, but twice.

Yea it was nice seeing Skinner and Girgs pot one. Today maybe we can see 3 goals. I’d like to see Reinhart, Nylander, or Dahlin pot one. I assume Hutton is starting.

The only time I eat between 5-6 is when I'm at my parents because they are 70 and bed time is coming soon. That being said, I think a simple "Yes it with my dinner routine" would have sufficed. Not sure what the comments about agreeing or understanding are about. Sounds like condescension.

No it wasnt condescension. It’s ok to disagree. No need to attack when people have different preferences or opinions. And not just 70 year olds eat dinner between 5-6ish. Your circle of friends/family may eat late into the night. That’s cool and it works for you. My circle usually doesn’t. Again, that’s cool. And I originally expressed my opinion on a 5:00 game. You wanted to understand. I tried explaining. You could have just said “ok, thanks for explaining”. Why the attack? You asked to know why I thought that way.

What's wrong with a 5pm start?  The 3pm start jams up my whole day. At least at 5, I can get whatever I need done before hand and still have time after to watch any shows I enjoy that usually air during the 9 o'clock hour. Is it a dinner time issue?  Just trying to understand.

You don’t have to understand. It’s ok if we disagree. Part of it, yes, it is the dinner time thing. I’d rather eat healthy AND eat between 5-6pm. Just my preference. Again, agree to disagree. Today my wife and I are going down early to the arena, walk around the 100 and or 300 levels and try to find something, anything that isn’t fried, greasy, oily, highly caloric, artery hardening, and overall bad for you. Eat earlier then we’d prefer and overpay for the pleasure.

Sure, it’s only one game. Sure we can deal with it. Sure it’s not the end of the world. Never said it was. It’s an opinion I have. I don’t care for 5:00 games. Rather have a 1:00 or 3:00 game. No amount of debate will change what I prefer.

if I was staying at home .... sure, 5:00 is fine. We can eat while watching the game. No big deal.

    Again, agree to disagree.

I'm fairly certain he was being facetious.  All of those players on that screen are better than Risto. Considerably so.

This sounds more like your desire rather than what Botteril is actually thinking.

Well, considering no one on this board knows what he’s thinking... it’s all a guessing game right now by everyone. Right? And if you take JBs public media comments as “proof” of what he’s truly thinking, then that’s on you. I don’t believe what he says to the media and what he thinks privately are the same thing. GMs rarely show their hand to the public at large. Especially on big decisions.

until it doesn’t happen, my personal opinion is that he will be fired before the playoffs begin. I’m certain it will happen. JB ... prove me wrong. And I’ll own being wrong.

So not advisable for 3 and 5 year old children?

If you’re the kind of parent that doesn’t mind exposing their kids to swearing drunken fights possible nudity broken bottles general rudeness and arrests… Then yeah go for it ... Haha

Quite frankly a three and five-year-old probably prefer a nice Shamrock shake from McDonald’s instead… At least my kid did back in the day.
