  1. Absent sickness or an unforeseen event, how does a young player with experience miss a team meeting? The writers and perhaps a few here know if Quinn is a screw up, a party boy, or just looking to get out. Will be surprised if he is still around next season.
  2. UPL not sharp today. Samuelson trailing the shooter. Sabres slow.
  3. Not ready to give up on UPL myself. Doubt KA or a new GM will be either. Do think it’s interesting Ruff going with Reimer lately. No tank. KA and Ruff want to finish the season with as many wins as possible. As someone posted earlier, absent the 13 game, six game, and several three game losing streaks, the Defense and PP, the Sabres would have likely made the playoffs. Culture and the lesson of why every game matters during an 82 game season is the point. 100% agree. Still up to KA to bring in a few veterans with SC experience or for Pegula to replace KA. Will be a pivotal Sabre offseason, imo.
  4. It is confounding. PP looks much sharper last couple games, too. Maybe opposing team ambivalence making us look better.
  5. Easy to see the difference in shots between these two teams. Sabres could use some focus on getting shots off closer to and around the net.
  6. Gonna miss Sabres hockey when the season ends. Big Bills and Sabres fan my entire life, but my first love is hockey.
  7. Power was actually in position at the crease to help him.
  8. Close. You can’t “polish” a turd. Giant or otherwise without making a mess.
  9. As team leaders, think Dahlin and Thompson put enormous pressure on themselves to perform. Both have been part of the playoff drought. Neither has ever played an NHL playoff game. Thompson is 27 in his 8th season. Dahlin turns 25 in a few weeks in his 7th season. Both are young. To me, what both exhibited the other night was anxiety and a lack of poise. Poise comes with confidence and experience. In contrast, Zucker is 33 with 12 years in the league, and 52 playoff games. Reimer is 37 in his 15th year, with 3 wins and 8 losses in playoff games. Both play with poise and no apparent anxiety. Neither was part of the Sabre losing legacy. All four players play hard and make mistakes. This may not be a popular opinion, but think the mistakes Thompson and Dahlin are making recently are because of the pressure they personally feel for another playoff-less season. Adams waited too long to bring in veteran players to show the kids how to win. If Pegula keeps Adams, Adams needs to make a few big roster moves this offseason.
