He's looked really good so far. He is fun to watch if you can overlook the Leafs jersey.

It helps to have line mates that support puck possession. But Olofsson isn't the main problem with Cozens. Bad passes, both in the D & O zones, panicking with the puck under pressure, not moving the legs to create or get to open ice. Cozens looks legit terrible. Same with all of line 1. That's a lot of money tied up in those players that aren't showing up to give it 100% every game. Both the Islanders and the Rangers came to play, most of the Sabres roster did not. I remember some on here poking at my comment on the off-season building good habits. Well, it's abundantly clear now why I stated that, and it's on display for all to see.IMHO. shouldn't be waiting for the regular season, that should be pushed all off seadon. That is on the coaching staff as well as the players, imho.

Well, they better figure this out pretty quick. They played well enough to win this game, but many players are riding coattails here. Cozens, Skinner, Tage, Tuch, and a couple D men are just not good enough. There's a lot of our cap tied up in a few of those names. If they can't contribute, what are they doing here? Figure it out.

For the most part I thought those that chimed in here during the game gave good feedback on what they were seeing. Outside of a couple of posters throwing freshly squeezed swimmers at one another, it was a good read on what we see in the team (if you 2 can clean up the floor now, before someone slips and gets hurt, that'd be great). On to the next, let's see if they respond.

The Rangers own the Sabres tonight. Smothering them. They are playing with more aggression. They have hemmed Buffalo in their own end for long stretches of the game. Buffalo has bo answer. Even when they get the puck, they panic or are immediately overwhelmed. The coaching staff is in large part responsible for countering the Rangers style of play, they haven't. I hope they figure it out as the season progresses.

They've spent a majority of the game in their own end, passes are a part of the issue for sure. But I'm noticing no urgency in puck battles and an inability to control some play for longer than 8 to 10 seconds. Not saying it's a season long problem in the opener, but it's definitely a clear sign of being unprepared to play tonight, the season opener, at home no less.
