    It's possible I've never had good pizza. At least not this fantasy pizza yall are speaking of. There's a local place here that I think has top notch garlic pizza. Other than that I survive on the chains. I'm high on Domino's pan pizza right now. I've recounted several times that I had La Nova pizza in Buffalo a few years ago and it was a sickly mess. I don't hear that name bandied about much tho. I do fantasize about how good some of this zza must be.

    Did you have LaNova at the arena?  I was in Buffalo a few weeks ago, and brought my son to LaNova (west side location).  We had a variety of slices for lunch.  Three cheese, sweet peppers and Chicken.  Pepperoni with sesame seed crust.  It definitely did not disappoint. His favorite of the trip.  That was my go to when I lived on Elmwood some 30+ years ago.  That and Mister Pizza.  I had a Mister in 2022 and not as good as I recall.  My parents live in Kenmore so they are loyal to Bob John’s La Hacienda on Hertel.  All of the above is better than what I can get in Southern California. Jealous of all these options.

    Most likely outcomes:

    Kulich = Kotalik

    Peterka = Max

    Quinn = Vanek

    Savoie = Ennis

    I will say I see the same it factor others do in Peterka and I would not be surprised if ends up the best of them all.

    Really?  Based on size, playing in the WHL and scoring about the same point in draft eligible year?  His draft position in a year that projects higher than others must give him a better outcome than Ennis.

    Adams has become in incredibly adept at these things in talking philosophy without talking meat.

    "We've told Tyson Jost we want him back" for one year and at a pay cut

    "For Russians, it's about specific situations and the information that's available" for example Michkov only wants to play for Washington or us so we are desperately trying to move up ahead of the Caps.

    "We're comfortable with three goalies" but only until I can flip Comrie or UPL for fair value.

    Kevyn and are a lot alike.  I use this language all the time.

    “Honey, I can’t make it to dinner on Thursday, I have a lot on my plate at work”, because your friends are cray-cray and I’d rather have my eyes lids removed than suffer through an evening with them.

    “Julie, I have no idea where your husband is”… unless maybe he went home with Cindi, the smoking hot blonde bartender we were talking to last night.

    “I just fixed the leaky faucet”, that you mentioned like 75 times the last two weeks, but not today, so do you think that’s worthy of sex tonight?

    The Z and KO signings should end all debate on where Greenway slots next season.  Jordan will be on the 3rd line with Mitts.  The only real question is who will be the 3rd member of that line; Krebs, VO, Savoie, Kulich, Rousek or someone from outside the organization.

    Not that I believe this after the KO and Gus signings, but I thought JJP would slide down and the second line would be upgraded.

    The cap is projected to take a couple large jumps in coming years, but I doubt that it reaches 100M by 2027.

    Even if it did, Power would basically need to have established himself as no doubt one of the top 5 Defensemen in the NHL in order to get a 12% cap hit type of contract.  There are currently only 3 Defensemen who have contracts with 12% cap hit at the time of signing.

    The situation you lay out is like a 1% probability type of scenario.

    There are only 3 active because teams are locking up young D after their EL contract ends (Fox, McAvoy, Makar).  All of those contracts would be larger if they bridged. Go back ten years and see there are many, many  examples. Chara, Lidstrom, Boyle, Campbell, Jovanosky, Subban, Suter, Weber, Pronger to name a few.  Some of these are 15-17% And dozens more where it’s 10.5%of the cap.  In 4 years (my scenario) Power will be full prime, and a top 5 D in the league, which would warrant $12m.  The $100m is realistic.  After the $1B from Covid loss is finalized this year, they are talking of it jumping to $92m by 2025. So $100m is probable in 2027 if this conservative estimate for 2025 manifests. your dismissal of this happens at 1% is wrong.  Let’s both hope that he doesn’t sign a three year bridge.

    You may be right but I’m not sure if really will make that much difference to him from a financial standpoint.  I really don’t think he will earn Dahlin $ of $10M+, because he isn’t going to play PP1 and put up those same point totals.

    Let’s do the math.

    A 2 x $6M bridge = $12M

    Followed by 8 x $10M = $80M

    = $92M over 10 years

    A 8 x $8M deal = $64M

    Followed by something like 6 x $12M (but only counting the first 2 seasons) = $24M

    = $88M over 10 years

    Thats about how I see it working out.  If he signs a bridge, he might make a few $M more over the next 10 years, but if he signs long term now, he will get more money sooner, and it’s always better to get the money sooner because you can invest it and get that compounding interest going sooner, so I see it as pretty much a wash.  Plus, just the security of locking that contract in right away is really worth something in terms of piece of mind and financial certainty.

    I would say that he actually makes out better by taking a long term deal now.

    You could quibble with the numbers I used above, but I doubt they are off by much.  Does anyone really think that 2 years from now Power will be able to command a contract bigger that 8 x $10M?  I’d be shocked if he was able to get even that much.

    The bold, it’s our only leverage. If he signs a 3 year bridge like Dahlin did, based as some insiders cap estimates of ~$100m+ in 2027, a 12% of the cap total would yield at least $12m for his next deal.  I advocate  $8m *8 after July 1st.

    Interesting option, and if it's a real negotiation would getting Vladar  as well be enough to pair with Levi? Take a chance on Markstrom regaining form? Calgary wants to clear a spot for Wolf so I suspect one or both of them is available.

    Hanifin isn't my first choice, but it's definitely an upgrade.

    First time I’ve heard this name as a trade option.  What differentiates him from Comrie?  Career back up, no?

    Another thing just came up that I need to vent on a bit....but I have to 'tread lightly' here.

    Father-in-Law moved to Florida over 10 years ago. We visit yearly and after the first day I usually am ready to return home but...He had a conversatoin with my wife last night.

    Has a pretty big house there.  Since he moved there his property taxes have almost doubled, Homeowners assoc fees are up $50 a month, and homeowners insurance invoice came in last week and what was about $1200 a decade ago is now closing in on $6000 per year.  This is after saying his auto insurace got a huge increase a few months ago also. His car also was broken into a few months ago during the day in the parking lot at Home Depot. SO....the idea he 'floated' to my wife was what if he sells his house there and buys a much smaller condo there, or possibly in Georgia to live 7-8 months of the year in, and 'comes to visit us' and stays at our house here in NY state all summer/every summer?

    I don't see that working out well. The discussion about this might not be too much fun but if this is allowed to happen the stress that comes from it might lead to a divorce.

    FWIW, my parents stay with us (wife  and two boys) from December 15th through Jan 15-30th each year to escape the harsh Buffalo winters.  Then back to Buffalo for two weeks, and a month in Florida rental.  It can be stressful but I recognize that our distance prevents a lot of frequency to our visits so they are usually longer.  I’ll bring one of the boys back this summer and work two weeks (remote) and add a few days of PTO knowing I won’t see them until Christmas.  My wife loves the visits bc they add value by shopping, cooking and helping me with my oldest who is disabled.  Sounds like your situation might be a little different.  Three months can be a lot, so I would recommend you try one month. See if it works for all parties.  Maybe he could AB&B another month.  If he is a POS (inference only) and is a hindrance not a help, it would manifest within 30 days.  Your wife will see it and probably think twice about the following year.

    idk, I think with the Peterson addition Hart is in fact on the trade block and the Flyers might really want their 2nd back. Could we unload Olafsson with that 2nd and maybe get Hart? Solid move imo. Levi still the goalie of the future but he gets time to grow into the role and if Hart is actually good we end up with an even better new dilemma of too many good goalies competing for ice time. It makes sense all around.

    This makes sense.  The Flyers offense needs goal scoring and Vic is an asset that could be moved for draft capital at the deadline if they find themselves at the bottom of the standings.

    Well things change, people change. This team is a different team and his career is in a different place so you never know but as I said, I wouldn't. makes zero sense for the Flyers to have Peterson AND Hart though. Something will give at some point.

    I get it, Petersen rejected another leadership team, but Terry was the common denominator, and Adams as we know is extremely loyal to TPegs.  Plus, Cal is just not good.  The Kings D wasn’t bad this year and Petersen had a really awful stretch of games.  And the year prior was pretty bad too.  Hart could improve the team.  It’s more probable than not Petersen wouldn’t.

    Hart's better than you guys think. I saw a few Flyers games this year where he was the only thing keeping them in it, and also keep in mind Risto was part of the D in front of him. That alone drops any goalie's stats.

    Philly won't want UPL. They have Errson coming. maybe they want their 2nd back. plus?

    Could we possibly be looking at Peterson though? Philly retains salary maybe? I wouldn't, but if Adams just wants a new back up to Levi it's possible.

    Petersen exemplifies “not wanting to be here”.  He literally did that in 2017 by not signing.  Zero chance.

    As others have noted, the hit on Eichel was 100% clean, and Eichel made it worse by stumbling head-first into it.

    First things first -- the Sabres need to make the playoffs -- but this series should make it crystal clear that they need more nasty if they want to be Cup contenders.  That was a bloodsport match last night.

    I counted six former Sabres in the lineup last night:  Eichel, McNabb and Carrier for Vegas and Reino, Montour and Fitzie for Florida.

    The fact he is playing in a Stanley Cup final game speaks volumes about the Florida defensive depth, or lack thereof.  If the Sabres can secure a true #4 RD to play with Power, and Joki slides down and Stillman is a #7, why would our defense not be playoff caliber?

    Montreal and their pundits are so in love with the Levi paradox where he'll be their savior.  Sure, you can have Devon Levi, for your top 10 pick, three future firsts, and Nick Suzuki.  Otherwise, stop posting your trash.

    I think they're moving on from Girgensons, and that's upsetting but part of life.  Rousek easily can replace him next season.

    Is this true?  I’m not disputing replacing him, as I’m not an advocate of paying a guy $3M++ for a 4th line role, special teamer with *hands of stone*.   The Sabres could elevate the scoring with Rousek, but not sure he can be and plug and play on the PK#1.   Who areyour top two forwards?

    The strike zone in my Jays game today 😭😭😭

      You won’t have to endure these bad calls for too much longer.  Triple A is using Full  ABS or ABS challenge and from the GMs I’ve heard speak on the subject most are in favor of a Ball/Strike challenge by next year, with some advocating full ABS to follow.  Aaron Judge is regularly at the top of the list each year for incorrect low strike called against and yet he is still crushing the ball.  Now that he has improved his chase rate, I can’t wait to see how a full ABS might enhance his OPS.
