  1. How do I know? Well, I've seen the media stories. Watch this clip. I think you will find it very interesting. (Hasek's in it too)
  2. lol, how so? Ask you the same question. What do you watch after the Sabres get eliminated? Switch "weak" with bored and maybe I'd agree with you.
  3. punk ass he is, but we could use one or two on our team.
  4. Where's the info that says this is in any way political, related to the Ukraine, or has anything to do with their government? Putin elevates Russian hockey players to national hero status. A lot of players like Putin. He's not going after hockey player's parents unless there's something very specific here.
  5. I also pick a Western team and have slightly followed Seattle all year. I also like Minnesota for the way they play and Foligno vs. Foligno in the cup would be pretty cool. Also going to cheer against Eichel. Just because.
  6. Florida has the ability to exploit most of our weaknesses so I'm not overly optimistic. Having said that however, this is possibly a defining moment for the future if they can in fact rise to the occasion, handle the physicality, and give us a solid glimpse of the future. I suspect they will have to play their best game of the year to win and Levi will have to be very good. How we defend the front of the net will be key. Wish we had someone who I'd feel confident would smack Tkachuk in the mouth. Maybe Krebs can irritate him enough he draws a dumb penalty and we score on the PP. Fingers crossed.
  7. Ya, injury prone. It's possible. I'm not sure it's true, but it's possible. Is Samuelsson injury prone? Been out twice in his first full season. I'm not sure it's a real thing but defensemen getting hurt when they play the right way is pretty common. This is why the Bruins added Orlov when they already had 7 able bodies. Defensive depth is an essential part of winning hockey and if you don't have it you aren't likely to go far.
  8. Gives me something to watch when the Sabres miss the playoffs. What do you do? Cheer for the Leafs? 11 years and no second team must be painful. haha. I came from that class. Money does buy a lot of happiness after all.
  9. Not a big fan of Italian wine and "sediment" yuck. Get a decanter. I'm actually a bit of a wine snob to tell you the truth. I actually fuss over temperature, clarity, type of glass. In the end I'm very satisfied with what I drink, but my bar for decent wine is pretty high. Same for my hockey team.
  10. This is a major point of disagreement. I'm pretty sure the Bruins would knock us out fast, probably 4 straight, but I also believe that would be a huge moment for this locker room coming together and for this group to divorce themselves from the stink of the recent history. No more talking about longest streak not making the playoffs and all that other baggage. new team, new standard, new beliefs. Think about the difference to build on. If we'd made the playoffs this year a guy like Owen Power can become a guy who never missed the playoffs rather than our previous stars and their never played in a playoff game streaks. It would have made a huge difference.
  11. I get it, you hope we become like Tampa. That'd be good, but we have a way to go yet. I don't know what you mean by "there is no bust" though. Generally making the playoffs is considered a level of success and missing the playoffs is failure. At what point do you elevate the bar to the point where the standard is indeed making the playoffs as the minimum? To me it's next year (since they likely missed this one)
  12. Are you seriously trying to imply Stillman is better than Chychrun? lol He is better than Bryson, but who isn't?
  13. I've never said that. The only time I suggested it might have been luck was Granato moving Thompson to center. I doubt they expected him to suddenly get as good as he did. I liked the idea of picking up Greenway but then he kind of sucked and wasn't what I thought he was and now he's popped two goals in but otherwise has still kind of sucked so idk about him. Time will tell I guess.
  14. Stillman? Impact? That's delusional.
  15. Of course that's possible and that was on Adams. To reiterate, just before the trade deadline you give him your absolute best offer. He signs great, he doesn't you deadline deal him (if you can for anything) then you trade for one of the goalies that teams were going to lose in expansion as we had no protected goalie worth protecting. Or you grab one off Seattle like Washington did. There were ways to shore up the position for these years that were no difficult to do. I still want a goalie this off season. I know Levi Levi Levi and maybe he's the future, but I'd still sign a veteran to play with him. It's playoffs or bust from now on.
  16. Well yes we are mathematically alive and it is possible but I suspect we will miss by just a point or three and that's why I'm so frustrated over this season. It wouldn't have taken that much to get us another half dozen points (or more). imo KA didn't believe in his own team and blew this opportunity.
  17. Question of whether or not you saw his potential. Sweeney obviously did. Ullmark just needed a reliable D in front of him. They made him better, he made them better, confidence grew. We went out of our way to keep him away from Vegas, we developed him slowly and properly and then we let him go when he was ready to peak. Dumb plan. Having said that, if we'd traded for or signed one of the Russians or others available at that time I'd have been fine with that too. imo what we did instead wasn't that different from Murray trading all his goalies away to tank.
  18. Nah, I vent about my frustrations with this team here because it's Sabrespace. Team frustrates me often but I don't carry it with me. I've survived the last decade by having secondary teams and as long as the leafs keep getting bounced early I'm pretty happy come the end of the season(s). I would however like to see the Sabres restored to a top tier position sooner than later, and a cup before I die of old age would be nice,
  19. Maybe, but we'd have to win out. They have 3 very winnable games for their style after Tampa, and Tampa might not care being stuck where they are and just resting for the Leafs.
  20. This may all be for nothing anyway. With Pittsburgh winning today they are in control with an easy easy schedule.
  21. I'm not blaming KA for 11 years, but I don't start over with every firing. This is a franchise vs. fans issue. It's 11 years. It's TOO LONG.
  22. I know, we needed to go higher than them to make it an offer he couldn't refuse. But if he wouldn't take it, we needed a plan B goalie(s) not what we did. He did, and who wouldn't? But we could have offered more.
  23. You're misunderstanding me though. My argument has been since last off season, before this one even started and I had no interest in loading up at the deadline. I would have made the Chychrun deal, but he's signed for next year as well, so that's not a deadline rental. D depth and goaltending needed to be addressed before this season started. Actually, I suppose my argument started when they failed to re-sign Ullmark and decided Anderson was adequate.
  24. Ullmark's had 60 goalie hugs this season. Flawless in the shoot out. Just imagine if KA had opened the vault and signed him..............
  25. Not if he replaces him with a better FA. If we spend and end up with too many bodies I'm fine with trading him. I only have a handful of do not trade guys on this team and even them, if you upgrade it's fine.
