  1. want to fix the title? 2nd round pick was for the 2 million in cap retention at the deadline for comparison-- toronto paid a 1st round pick for 6 million pre-season (bought out)
  2. You are perfectly capable of saying 'best underlying statistics' instead of 'best defenseman'
  3. These are also crazy prices. Hockey trade, stand pat, and sell last-second if teams really do get desperate and would include a 1st rounder for any of our rentals
  4. they could have had cap saved up (capfriendly is dead to me ? )
  5. I think everyone agrees with this
  6. can we stop using the words 'best' to describe fancy stats that are heavily dependent upon quality of competition and minutes played?
  7. He had a 1C last year, which is another solution to his woes that Krueger has refused to do for more than a few shifts.
  8. 2C may be what Skinner needs. He really needs puck retrievers on his lines and he hasn't had many.
  9. Overpaying for rental ROR impressive. They could have done that for no assets. Here’s a blast from the past of reporters mocking ROR for asking for 6.5: http://blogs.denverpost.com/avs/2014/06/17/ryan-oreilly-agent-now-preparing-arbitration-case-didnt-think-wed-attend/18548/
  10. Their dad is their agent
  11. Plus the Cal Oreilly saga?
  12. Except, you know, fix the same injury he’s had for a decade
  13. Rental with no guarantees of signing It was confirmed by Murray he had no conversations with ROR until after the deal Cant factor in hindsight
  14. Eh, I could say that he wants to show he can play in the NHL, in the NHL, because he’s trying to show off for his next contract. And he wasn’t going to do that in Buffalo and might not believe he could in Rochester. He’s forfeiting 1.4mil to salvage his career where he’s poised to make more.
  15. Name one deal of GMTM at reasonable cost
  16. Moulson didn’t openly demand trades. Reap what you sow
  17. 7.7 millions wooo bring on the cap dumps!!!!
  18. Evidence? Being the teams joker in the locker room doesn’t mean ‘good guy’. Call him a victim of his own contract if you wish, but he would have been in the KHL years ago without it.
  19. Or maybe I should say Reinhart. He’s considered part of their core, but the easiest to move. Team isn’t doing hot so he’s a lightning rod of attention while his underlying stats are still good.
  20. BYEEeEeEeEeE I wonder if he feels free to beat up his twitter hecklers now. Con artist got paid millions to not play good hockey and Murray was dumb enough to foot the rest of the bill. Good riddance. Things are already better since he’s been gone
  21. I think a majority of that failure was on Housley quite honestly. I agree from a development perspective they both would've been better in the AHL, but a 3C/3RW role without such a terrible coach I believe would have turned out very differently.
  22. Dahlin is one of our few defenseman who does more than pass the puck around the perimeter. Miller is actually our other defenseman who is good at this as well. The less predictable the defenseman are the harder you are to play against. The chaos is how goals are scored. Oh, and Dahlin is filthy good.
  23. That's what Montour trade was last deadline. That was a great trade, even with the fall-out. I didn't see an opening for a trade ever actually resulting in a 2C, but Trochek being available, and Ristolainen having a similar contract situation, the path couldn't be clearer to my eyes. Trochek is a selfish player, but if he can eat-up quality 2nd line minutes and be paired with Skinner, he's what this team is missing.
  24. Assuming a top-6 graded prospect only needs to be a replacement level 3rd liner is not exactly setting them, or your own expectations up for failure. That's not to say it may be a mistake from a development perspective, but if someone is only penciling in a player in a lower role than their ceiling they're doing ok.
