  1. Nice hole in TnT’s stick. I wonder if any Chicago fans are wondering if they should have drafted Cozens or Krebs instead of Dach?
  2. What got into the Sabres during the first intermission?
  3. I gave up practicing law for lent one year, never went back and I’m not even Catholic.
  4. What a difference a healthy VO and Mitts make. I love how Mitts has learned to cover for the pinching D.
  5. Why are the Sabres consistently a better team in the 2nd period? The long change used to be our Kryptonite.
  6. Why? It helps our draft position. Nice of the Sabres to remind us this period that there is still a long way to go
  7. Because he is a left shot. Not because he is not a good player.
  8. Makes you wonder about our new and improved analytics department. As to Theodore, I would love to have him. However, I didn’t include him on my list because I thought there was no way LV would trade him. Great if I’m wrong. Murphy is also interesting. I haven’t done a deep dive into him, but I generally don’t want anyone from the Chi organization including Kane.
  9. @nfreeman I’m sure NY has some sort of development authority to issue bonds for a project like this. We won’t know the terms until we see the bond indentures.
  10. Why do Miller’s fancy stats look so much better then the eye test?
  11. No one ever said being a GM was easy. I like the guys also and think the group has improved as the season went along. You wonder how many more wins we’d have Anderson and Samuelsson were healthy all season. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we carry 8 D next season to weather injuries and use a rotation to take advantage of matchups or create a more physical lineup. Pysyk hopefully will be re-signed as depth But I agree, we have to give to get. With 3 2nds next season and 3 1sts this year we have ammo to make deals without necessarily losing a roster player. If they feel JJP is ready, I can also see VO as a trade piece to help bring in a Dumba or a Ryan Ellis.
  12. I remember taking a tour of Mercedes Benz stadium here in the Atl. In Arthur Blank’s private suite there is a painting and the background of the painting is all the checks he wrote for the completion of the stadium. I’ll add a photo of it when I find it.
  13. And that is where the rub is. Bryson seems to be able to play well with anyone. He has looked good on both sides, especially on the right with Dahlin and Samuelsson. He seems to be able to adjust to any partner. That is a significant skill that KA may want to hold on to over the more one dimensional Fitzgerald.
  14. None are supposed to excite you. The player is really supposed to be an upgrade over Pysyk.
  15. Absolutely there is a chance, especially once Johnson signs his ELC. I don’t see Fitz and Bryson both being traded, but both will come up in trade discussions for teams looking to get younger and cheaper. I am curious if KA values Bryson’s utility play or Fitz’s feisty physical play more?
  16. A Toni Lydman would be perfect. That was one of DR's best acquisitions.
  17. KA is definitely going to have to find the "right guy." I'm not sure who that is which is why I started the thread. The guy needs to be a good defensive player, experienced enough to have respect in the locker-room, hopefully come from a winning organization, young enough to be here for a period of 2-4 years and be willing to mentor younger players. He also has to be available in trade, someone KA wants and is willing to pay for and if he has a NMC/NTC he has to be willing to come here. That's a tough checklist. I listed 15 possible players, but maybe 5 or less might actually fit the bill. KA needs to be looking for a defensive version of Teppo Numminnen.
  18. Most revenue bonds are not burdens of the issuing county or state but obligations only of the issuing authority. In this case it would be the Erie County Stadium authority. Some do carry a guarantee from the state or county, but this only comes into play if the project fails. In addition these bonds are typically issued with sinking funds. A portion of the revenue automatically goes to the sinking fund to retire the bonds over time. The revenue from the project should be more than enough to cover the interest and eventual principal payments or no rating agency would rate the bonds for public sale. As to the balance of the project over the $850 mill, the NFL is putting in 200 mill and PGE must match at least that amount. The article I read wasn't clear beyond that. As to other governmental projects, Erie County Schools has their own issuing authority. Others include the convention center, the water authority etc.. My guess is Kaleida Healthcare has one as well in partnership with Erie County. Each of these agencies carry their own debt limits and credit rating. PS For those wishing a greater understanding of muni bonds and how they work, I can be messaged privately.
  19. It's how I feel watching Miller and Butcher, although I loved Butcher in college.
  20. Wow! Now there is a pop culture reference. Talk about a diverse character actor in Daniel Davis. Butler on the Nanny, Moriarty on STNG, and as a carrier Captain in the Hunt for Red October. Now back on topic, I don't think Niles works on our D group.
