Golden Knights at Sabres 11-10-22 7PM
GASabresIUFAN replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Aud Club
Eichel and the red hot Knights are coming to town. We have lost 3 in a row and have been playing perimeter hockey and the D is suspect. Would it hyperbole to say this is the most important game of the year so far? Lose tonight and we have pissed away the good start to the season. Win tonight against the top team in West and you bring back the confidence the team had before Dahlin’s brief injury. -
Geez, come on are we really surprised the Bush has lousy analytics? Bryson, Pilut and Fitz are all easily replaced players. I'm surprised Clague numbers are so good. Maybe that is why he is still in the lineup? I'm all for claiming Reilly at this point. All it costs is a few Pegula $ which we have plenty in reserve. Only real issue in the $4 mill in actual $ he is owed next season. Make Boston an offer involving some retention.

The truth is that if Allen doesn’t throw those Ints early, the Bills roll through the Jets. That said losing Milano and two all-pro safeties is more than any D can handle. As I’ve said before, Frazier doesn’t know how to adjust when a team can run the football. Milano and the all-pro safeties cover up many of the issues with Frazier’s 4-2-5 scheme. It also doesn’t help that 3 key players on the O-Line have been out or banged up for most of the season in Boettger, Doyle and Brown. That kills the depth. Beane should have found some help for the line at the deadline.

They have been a hard to watch at times this year. Like they are going through the motions someones or get bored after the beating the snot out of less competition. Then when they need to they flip the switch and become a bulldozer grinding teams into submission. They are also kind of like the Sabres with talented youth everywhere mixed with some solid veterans. Actually in GA’s case high end vets. They really haven’t played a complete game since Oregon. Some of that is on Kirby running out the clock, but with the stakes growing I’m hoping to see the team in Oregon mode for the rest of the year. I think the TN win was a huge boost for some of the younger guys in the secondary who played great against NFL quality receivers. I’m in full out rooting for TCU. I really don’t want to play TN or Oregon again.

They also lost quality D to the transfer portal. All told they lost 28 players from last year’s Championship roster and didn’t bring in any transfers. As Hyatt the WR for TN said post game, GA is the most physical team they played this season. Are you ready to move back yet?

Nope and I wouldn’t read to much into it. Also Reinhart’s numbers dropped the year after the draft in juniors. Some results are dependent on the quality of linemates and the team. Also the marching orders from the Sabres development coaches may influence how he plays. For example the Sabres maybe asking him to work on his back checking and his overall 2 way game.

I think Drury should attend the ceremony

Peter McNabb dead at 70... drafted by Sabres

That's much to young. RIP Peter. -
...and so it goes. Seems like there is a curse on our organization. Thou shall not compete with a full roster of good players.

I didn’t get a full chance to watch this game owing to an exciting GA football game. However, I was able to watch the 3rd period and thought the team showed heart, but the 4th TB goal was a softie that Comrie should have saved. -
That would be a good break for a change.

In Ryan Miller’s Hobey Baker winning year he had a stat line of 31 wins, a 1.32 gaa and a .950 save % with 10 shutouts in 40 games. He came back the next year and “regressed” to 26 wins, a 1.77 gaa and a .936 save % in 40 games. I think he turned out OK. I’m not worried about Devon at all.

I’m not really surprised to see Mitts tried on the wing and Krebs given a shot at center. It may be the highest and best use of both players. Krebs was a key piece of Eichel deal. He has had some good moments as a Sabres, but overall nothing to write home about. They want to give him every chance to succeed, but with so much talent pushing from below, he probably has only this season and maybe next to prove he belongs. I can easily see him being used as a trade assets to secure more D depth. The greatest thing he has going for him is that he might be the purest playmaker on the team. Much of the above can be said about Mitts as well. While his scoring might not be where many here want it he is on pace for a 50+ pt season. He has also made strides in the faceoff circle and in his defensive play to where DG trusts him both on the PK and end of game situations. That said, I can also see him being traded for a good defenseman, especially if Quinn and JJP continue to blossom. We can’t keep everyone.

Capfriendly now lists Pilut as waiver required.

It’s on Leslie Frazier

With Dahlin now injured, the pressure to do something has to be building.

TCU still undefeated. My guess is that the Frogs jump to 4th in the CFP. Credit to the LSU Tigers for being the most improved team since the start of the season. By the way the noise in Sanford Stadium got to nearly 140 decibels.

Completely agree. We are sitting here watching the game asking ourselves the same question. We are kinda rooting for the Irish however.

Yes, those are my seats. What an amazing game. We are asking ourselves the same question.
