I’m really looking forward to seeing him in buff in a couple of years. Unpopular pick at the time as it was said to be a reach but this scouting staff deserves the benefit of the doubt. Early videos and analysis I’ve seen point to a guy that could be a great second line C down the road who can hopefully have the smarts and skill to play up and down the lineup where needed.

Between the renewed optimism with the team and covid easing to the point many Canadians will consider crossing the border again, I think we will see some nice crowds this year.
They’ve convinced me to pick up 4 tickets for a game against the panthers in October. Whole extended family have tickets for when the leafs come to town in Feb also. Wouldn’t have considered going last year.

I'm cool with Power skipping this but very surprised Quinn and especially JJ arn't playing.

You keep harping on Krueger almost ruining Dahlin. Ralph was not the only coach fired that fateful day in March. There was one other canned that day. THAT is the guy that was actually supposed to be showing young Rasmus how to play the position and stay out of the non-X & O "motivational" coach's dog house.
Turned out Krueger's ability to motivate expired after a short shelf life. But Steve Smith should never have been brought in by Housley (who should never have been brought in by Botterill) much less kept around by Krueger (who also shouldn't have been brought in by Botterill). SMITH was the guy that was actually working with Dahlin on his game, not Ralph. Dahlin's play tailed off towards the end of his rookie season. Krueger was no more than a bar patron in Buffalo as that was happening, but Smith was guiding him even back then.
How Steve smith coached the D as long as he did is quite frankly amazing. He even survived one coaching fire in Buffalo no? Puke.

The potential in that top 10. Good lord. Even with recency bias this must be our deepest and highest skill pool in nearly 20 years no?

At first I was getting bent out of shape. Then I saw it’s bleacher report. Par for the course.

I’d tweak that to the above. It’s an open question as to where guys like Quinn (and Peterka, Savoie, Östlund, Kulich, Cozens, Krebs, even Mitts, Tuch and Thompson) will eventually land.
There’s no cant-miss Stamkos or Kane type sure-thing there, but maybe there’s a Drury and a Briere, or maybe even a Kucherov grower or a Toews leader?
To me, that’s what’s going to make this team worth watching.
Absolutely.
Last year at this time I didn't care when the season opener was scheduled for. Now I'm finding myself falling asleep watching Sleepy Joe Sabres Podcasts on Youtube 😬

If one of the leagues has an opening next year, will likely like to get back in. But right now just don't have time for a fantasy league. The pick 'em & suicide combined take all of 15 minutes a week. If that.
I know I know. Just playing 😉

IMO he’s a huge piece to this puzzle.
If he’s a shut down guy allowing Dahlin or Power to roam free we may be in that playoff hunt. If there are growing pains we likely won’t. Nobody else on the roster with his sort of skill set.

I agree, at least for this year, but Webster has a point about the coming logjam.
It will be interesting to see who is a centre, who is a winger and who is traded in 3 or 4 years.
3 top lines, 7 candidates: Thompson, Mittelstadt, Cozens, Krebs, Savoie, Östlund, Kulich.
Östlund is the only one I can't really see sliding to the wing.
Tage has to be given shot as 1C moving forward. Sabres can figure out the rest from there.
My guess is Kulich, mitts and Krebs are wingers. Although Krebs vision does give me some pause.

I believe they also offered Stasny a deal.
I know it’s a lot of conjecture but I really don’t see a scenario where Casey and Krebs are together on this team long term unless as someone suggested, they see Tage as a winger but I haven’t heard anyone else say that.Jesus how could anyone see Tage as a winger after he exploded last year as a C??

Two weeks out. Have we considered any draft dates and times yet?
I prefer couple days before season starts to avoid injury risk. Good for whenever everyone else wants.

We’ll it’s only 2022 what do you expect? The nhl may realize one day the importance of drawing interest prior to the season starting.
