  1. They had 2 first and 2 second rounders.  I don't know if that would have been enough to move up, but maybe add a player in there.

Wouldve had to be a damn good player for the NYG to consider moving from 2 all the way down to 23, even with those picks

  2.

    More ideas for off season-

Trade- ROR, Beaulieu, Fasching and 2019 2nd rd pick to Arizona for Domi and OEL

    Sign LW David Perron
    Sign Goalie Jonathan Bernier

Trade Larsson and 2018 4th rd pick to Pittsburgh for Riley Sheehan

    18-19 line-up

    Perron- Eichel- Okposo
    Domi- Mittelstadt- Reinhart
    Wilson- Sheehan- Pommer
    Bailey- ERod- Baptiste

    OEL- Dahlin
    Scandella- Risto
    McCabe (Guhle)- Nelson

    Ullmark
    Bernier

Come on man, Bealieuuueuue and Fasching are completely worthless in every sense of the word.  Fasching was scratched by Rochester in the playoffs, thats how worthless he is. Bowl-U was a huge flop and has no more value than maybe a 6th rd pick next year to a playoff bound team looking for depth, and if he's even healthy

  3. I think Dahlin gets us a little closer, but still not quite there.  I would like to see what else JB has in mind for the summer.  He said that there will be changes and that Eichel was the only one off the trade block.  Does the future addition of Dahlin change the math or does JB still make some big changes?

As mentioned by several other psots, we need wingers badly and solid goal tending.  I am not sold on Ullmark being as good as Anderson.

i think in 3 years, the Sabres-Leafs rivalry will be fun and we should see a playoff series, but, not before that

  4. ROR and Guhle for OEL and Domi??

I don't think that gets it done, OEL is one of the better D-men in the league, he is far more valuable than RoR.  Guhle for Domi is a bit of a wash, Domi probably needs a change of scenary and I wouldn't mind him in Buffalo, but not at the cost of Guhle who is a solid defensive prospect.

I don't think Arizona hangs up on Buffalo, they ask for more and rightfully so

  5. And on top of all of that, why would his agent even be leaking this at this point?  Mayfield has absolutely nothing to gain from it now that the draft is over.

the only thing i can think of to keep the hype up?  Something like, "See, even the Patriots with Brady wanted Mayfield" 'proves' he was the best?  i'm confused, but whatever.

  6. According to Mayfield's agent, the Pats were debating trading up to #2 for him

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/23374606/agent-says-new-england-patriots-discussed-trading-draft-baker-mayfield

I saw this as well, I just can't understand how that would've even been possible.  They didn't have near enough draft capital.  The Giants supposedly were impressed with the Bills offer, but still wanted Barkley.  There's just no way that the Pats couldve gotten that high up.

  7. According to Eklund its "e4" that the Sabres are going to "back up the brinks truck" for Carlson.  Of course he said that about Tavares too, I guess he believes the Sabres will be exempt from the salary cap next year.

  8. Speaking of getting rid of contracts, am I completely out of my mind to wonder if some team looking to hit the floor (I haven't studied to see if there are teams in this spot and if so who, but probably Arizona because of course) might take on Moulson this year?

He's due to make $2 million in actual dollars with a $5 million cap hit. Buying him out really makes no sense, it only saves $300k as opposed to leaving him buried in the AHL this coming season, with the added drawback of the $666k cap hit in 2109-20. So in effect, it costs more against the cap over two seasons to buy him out than not.

    A guy can hope, no?

Arizona did take Datsyuk's contract for a year, anything is possible

  9. Okposo sucks

I wouldnt say he sucks, I would say he's had a sucky recovery from that injury/infection from the end of last season.  He started playing better at the end of the year.  I would like to see a full season without health issues before I say he flat out sucks.

  10. I have seen a lot of talk about moving on from RoR (which I support) and Risto (which I do not support, unless some GM is stupid and we get back a Taylor Hall) now that we are going to draft Dahlin.

What would a reasonable trade involving RoR actaully be?  You have to think he carries a lot of weight around the league, defensively responsible, one of the top faceoff guys, sure he had those year end comments, but, I would think most GMs could understand all the losing he has been through.  This morning he was named Alt Capt of Team Canada.

Assuming we draft Dahlin and do not trade Risto, Scandella, Guhle coming up and McCabe healing from a nagging year long injury, are we set at D or do we try to trade RoR for another 2/3 D-man?

I honeslty have no idea where to begin with a RoR trade, his value, and what we can get in return.  Thoughts?

  11. Is it time to look back and look back at the decision to look back at Laine vs Matthews?

    Playoffs in Pro Careers:

    AM 17GP  5G 5A      PTS/Game      .58

    PL   23GP 12G 7A    PTS/Game       .82

Is the pressure to perform inToronto real?  I think AM will get it right, he's still young like the rest of the Leafs core.  They have like 7 guys under 23.  I think we need to get used to Leaf dominance for a long time

  12. Think Chicago would ever part with Kane??

ROR, Bogo, Larsson, and Fasching for Seabrook and Kane???

I know we would have Seabrook cap hit, but his real money is not that bad.

Imagine Kane playing on the right side with Mittelstadt!!!

Make it stop!  You can't give up your crap for another team's gold.  In what world is RoR the main part of a trade that lands you one of the best wingers in hockey?

Just because you offer 4 players for 2 doesnt mean it's a good trade for Chicago.  Bogo is always hurt and even when he plays, he's a way over paid 4th defenseman.  Larsson? do you really think Chicago has any use for him? 4th line players are a dime a dozen and Larsson is in that category.  Fasching can barely break the 4th line in Rochester these days and didnt he get scratched in 1 or both the playoff games?

If you plan on landing Kane + Seabrook, the offer probably has to start at no less than RoR, Risto, Mittelstadt and a 1st.  That will at least keep Chicago on the phone.

  13. I'm not sure it makes sense in terms of the minutes he eats against top lines and his faceoff wins.  And is his contract tradeable?  Do other teams want to take it on?

Bolded - hasn't really meant much here in terms of wins and success.

I think his contract is tradeable, there will be a few GM's that will think about your bolded statement as well and would think he might need a change of scenery.  What they are willing to trade is a whole different category.

  14. That makes no sense. So if the 2nd QB is drafted 49th and 3rd QB is drafted 85th we should expect one of those guys to work out, because they went in the top 3 QBs taken. If that were true they’d go much earlier in the draft.

My point is that in this draft I see little difference in the quality between Rudolph and the guys projected to go ahead of him.; so why would I waste my entire draft to get a marginal improvement in quality?

But that isnt going to happen, you're just making an extreme example to help your point, the chances the 3rd rated QB even makes it to 85 are pretty high.

If Rudolph is almost as good as the top 3, then yes I would agree with you, stay put and hope hes there at 22, which he probably will be.  But, from all the reading I have done about Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, Rudolph, Allen, Jackson, and what scouts have projected, I would rather take my chances trading up to Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield then sitting back and settling on Rudolph.  Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield are going to be able to takeover games and win them when other players are struggling or having a bad game.  Rudolph (again, based on what I have read about him) is a decent game manager system QB who on a good team will do fine, see Foles last year.

It literally always does. Last year we had to play a division which comprised half of the NFC playoffs, and were fine.

Last year, the Broncos and Falcons games were two of the scariest going into the season.

Meh, let's see what the teams look like in Fall 2018.

I think most fans are most worried about the offense.  Shady a year older, a whole new O-line (for the most part) even with a healthy Benjamin, one of the bottom WR corps in the league, we still have no idea whose going to QB (though I do believe AJ Mc will be under center to start)

This could be a one step back year, let AJ Mc get destroyed most of the year, next off-season, we have almost $100M in cap space and another draft to add more talent.

  15. Who cares if they were the first QB or the 10th QB. It’s the results that count. Does anyone really care that Dan Marino was the 6th QB taken that year behind such greats as Ken O’Brien and Tony Eason, or that Kelly was 3rd after Elway and Blackledge?

I’m sorry, but I think long-term Rudolph and Mayfield will be the best two QB’s in this draft. The modern NFL wants guys who can pass accurately, but also move well in the pocket. Jackson and Allen aren’t accurate, Rosen doesn’t move well and Darnold moves ok but has a mediocre arm. If I can get Rudolph at 22 then I’m waiting, unless Mayfield is slipping and then I move up a couple of picks to make sure I get him.

You're missing my point, I am saying that you have the best chance of success getting one of the top 3 QBs in a draft.  You dont need to draft him in the top 5 every year, its just that THIS year, the top 3 will likely all go very early, probably top 5 picks.  There are outliers once in a while and you can cherry pick them from history, Dan Marino and Brady, but they are an exception that happen far less often.

  16. Or in 50% of these drafts the top QB was drafted 11th or later and in some cases way later.

Like Brees and Rodgers...however, they were also the 2nd QBs taken in their drafts.  This year it just so happens that a lot of teams need QBs and they will be taken early.  Every draft is different

  17. History is always a factor. If you are investing an entire slate of high picks in one player and you miss, then you have crippled your franchise. You may cripple the franchise anyway, because your new franchise QB is going to get killed behind the lack of an OL. You need to understand the risks and rewards with making a decision. History is often the best guide.

These are true statements, but are the Bills just supposed to sit back and never take a chance at what could be a franchise QB?  The Bills have had some really solid rosters during the drought, but never a good enough QB to take it to the next level.

This is why we signed AJ Mc, let him get destroyed next season, then address O-line with next years draft and the $100M in salary cap space we will have after the coming season

  18. None of these guys are rated as high as Wentz and Goff were coming out of college. These guys are only being looked at this early because so many franchises are in need of a QB and many with that need a QB are drafting early.

Part of the issue is that next year’s QB class looks a little thin right now, but that could change as the juniors emerge.

That depends on what scouting you are looking at.  I have seen it all over the board, some have them higher, lower and even.

  19. Besides the Manning brothers, name me the last QB taken in the top 5 that won a Super Bowl? Where were Braddy, Wilson, Brees, Foles, Rodgers drafted?

There are so many things to consider when you bring up this point.  I am not going to go back and look at all those drafts, but you have to consder the needs of teams during those drafts.  The teams picking 1-5 dont always need a QB, they might have that in place and are looking for other dominant players, like D-lineman.  Yes, Brees and Rodgers werent taken top 5, but the they were also both the 2nd QBs taken in those drafts, which is important to note.

Later round picks can turn into gems, but that isnt the best recipe for success, for the most part, top 3 QBs in the draft have a better chance of success than the occasional later round success

  20. Do you think any of these guys are even close to as good as Wentz and Goff. I don’t.m

NFL teams have scouts that have seen all of Wentz and Goff's games along with all the games from the top 4 in this draft.  The Jets already made a big move, so they believe that this years crop is just as good as Goff and Wentz, so they moved up.  If the Bills feel the same way, then they will try to move up as well.  I trust what teams/scouts think more than any average Joe like myself that can look up some stats on line and make a decision based on little else.

  21. The Taylor trade was a pretty big signal that "win now" mode is over.  This season is about rebuilding.  Gotta do that by spending whatever it takes to get the QB this year, hope to hell that he's the right guy, and fill those holes later in the draft and next year.

Absolutely, take a step back next season, and then fill all the holes with the almost $100M in cap space they're going to have next year.  Let McCarron get destroyed next season, then build a massive O-line through draft and FA's, then watch Rosen tear it up

  22. This is the first post on the new page for me, so I am not going back to see what the hell happened.

On the QB thing, if the Bills manage to stay at 12 and still Rosen that will be a coup beyond words. Heck, even if they move up to 8 or 10 or something to get ahead of Miami for it. If they can pick Rosen and STILL have the second first rounder that will be a great job by Beane and Company.

Religion got brought up after a quote from Rosen saying he was mostly atheist and then it took a turn towards that for awhile, oh and something about God and tatoos.

If the rumors are true, Rosen might be the one sliding down the depth chart and hopefully we dont have to move up to the 2nd spot to draft him.  I think you are right, we will need to get ahead of Miami for sure, shouldnt be too hard with all of our draft capital.

Ideally, we want the the following to happen, Darnold-Barkley-Mayfield-Chubb-Allen, after Denver, no team will likely grab a QB until possibily Miami.  I think we target the Colts, shouldn't cost us the second 1st round pick to go from 12 to 6.

  23. It is what it is, when you have a losing culture and a team that sucks, players often don't do well.  If the team would've had success and played playoff hockey last couple years, Kane would probably still be here tearing it up for us.

I dont think it has anything to do with the city in which they play.  Most guys don't even stay in the cities they play in the offseason.  They spend a lot of time on the road as well.  yeah Buffalo and Peg are small market and smaller cities, but why would that have any effect on Kane's play?  He's surrounded by some really good talent and a winning team that is always in the playoffs, of course he is playing well now.
