Klos, i mean don’t pull a EXGMTM and overpay with a first round pick or a top prospect for a clear rental. GM’s do crazy things every year at the trade deadline. Something that occurred to me is that we should become an attractive destination in the off-season for solid vets who want a chance at the cup. Guys who can be solid role players at an affordable price tag. The Sabres are a young team who is very competitive and will be for some time. A player like a Recchi, Guerin, or Cullen comes to mind. These guys were instrumental to cup runs.

^ I wouldn’t leverage the farm for a rental but if there is an opportunity to pick a player from an underachieving team or one that is about to “rebuild”, I have full trust in JBOTTS to make the right decision. I wonder if the decline in Pittsburgh has something to do with his departure. He clearly knows how to build a strong farm system and evaluate players.

You must agree his play has been sub-par so far this season. I’m not advocating to cut his head off. I would just like Pilut to get a chance and Scandella could benefit from the press box.

Remind me, what are Wilson’s strengths? This is a sincere question. I just can’t remember his game. Obviously a bottom 6 guy. This seems like a nice experiment for the FLA game.

In my opinion TT is still a borderline NHL’er. I think there are kids in Rochester who are worthy of his roster spot (and who i’d like to see get a shot... Mr Olofsson). I’m happy to see Tage develop and contribute. He was outstanding last night. Will that be the norm? Well that is the million dollar question.

I think Rinne is the current front runner but Hutton could be in the discussion if he keeps getting wins.

You are right, they need to get it in the mid-20’s (or starting scoring more at even strength). What is clear from this streak is that they are not blowing teams out of the water. These have all been close contests where a more effective PP could have helped. Eventually we are going to be on the wrong side of some of these 1 goal games. Special teams play could be the difference.

I’m going on a bit of a rant this morning... sorry. Scandella needs to sit a few games. His decision making and untimely penalties are not helping this team. I would really like to see Pilut get 3-5 games His offensive numbers in the A have me frothing at the mouth. I want to see if he can do it at the NHL level.

Although I believe this team has much more NHL depth, it’s goaltending that is the biggest difference. We did not get the saves last year. Hutton and Linus have been our best player for everyone one of these wins.

Completely agree. They need to make quicker passes on the PP and get the PK moving. That will open up lanes. Sometimes they do a lot of standing around. I was thinking, JBots should sit Jack down and have him to watch Crosby highlights. There is no reason Jack cannot put up similar numbers (as Sid in his prime). Jack protects the puck like Crosby and commands the same respect from defenders. I think Crosby does a better job going to the net to get dirty goals. Jack is capable of 40 goals and 60-70 assists (with Skinner on his wing). I would just like to see him use his big frame near the net to bang in some rebounds and/or redirections. I don’t mean for this to be a nitpick on Jack, my only thought is that he can be more effective and dangerous than he has been. I love all the helpers he’s getting. Still can’t believe they have won 9 straight and are first in the league. Pinch me. beer

Jeff Skinner is going to be a wealthy young man. What a year. Jbotts is genius for getting him. So proud to be a fan of this team. We as fans have been waiting for this. I for one am enjoying the ride.
