I’m not saying that he is a terrible skater. I generally see it written that he is “a good skater for his size”, which doesn’t necessarily mean he is good though. Even if he is pretty good now, he is 220 at 19. If he ends up 235 at 22, will his skating be good, or will he slow down.
-
This is cool. I’m still concerned about whether his skating will be good enough though.

I would think that generally when young guys get sent down, they are given a list of things to work on. You need to work on X, Y, and Z and we need to see improvement in these areas before you come back to the NHL. Young, struggling guys like him rarely shuffle back and forth to cover injuries. That’s what guys like Lazar are for. Casey has long term objectives that he needs to meet. That’s one of the advantages of the AHL though, more time between games and less travel. More time to practice, work out and work on skills.
-
??? I’m not comprehending this.
-
We saw him playing one time so now he is obviously a video game addict and that’s why he sucks at hockey. Thats probably what is wrong with Sheary too. And it’s why Girgs never developed into a better player. And why Grigorenko couldn’t make it in the NHL. They can’t stop playing xbox, just like your 15 year old.

He is a good prospect, not a great one. Probably just ready for the NHL yet. He is probably similar to Mittelstadt in that regard. In his draft year (2017) he was expected to go around 10-15. It was a surprise when NYR took him at #7. He was regarded as a hardworking 2-way player with good skating, who also had good, but not super high end puck skills. He should still be a solid NHL player but isn’t likely to be a star.

On 12-17-2019, Thomas Chabot played 37:50 TOI in an OT game versus Tampa Bay. https://www.hockey-reference.com/boxscores/201912170TBL.html I think that’s the highest I’ve ever seen. Anyone know of a game where a guy played more mins?
-
He actually kind of is. Only 11 mins per game. Only F’s who have been playing less are Girgensons, ERod, Asplund, Lazar, and some of those guys have been in/out of the lineup or generally skate with Okposo.

Who knows. Skinner is on pace for 26 goals and 42 points. I bet he exceeds those numbers. If Dahlin was playing exceptionally well, at higher level than we expect, I may be more inclined to agree tha he can’t keep it up. However, I think he could be playing a lot better, and he is STILL putting up those numbers, despite so-so play and sometimes limited minutes.
-
Dahlin is on pace for 55 points even with his 8 missed games. He is pacing for 61pts/82gms.
-
When he said “who has the best shot?”, I was thinking they literally meant who is the better shooter. Rereading now, he could have meant shot at the MVP award I guess.

I’m sure they were obnoxious while doing it, but those radio people were all correct, in my opinion.

McDavid. I’d take McDavid. ?

One player that I’ve never even heard of (Tonelli) and one that I’m only vaguely aware existed (Goring). Are these guys really worthy of having numbers retired? I think the whole retiring of numbers gets a little crazy. How about just retiring their jersey, put it in the rafters if you want, put them in the team hall of fame, but still let other players wear the number.

Bummer. I like him. Not too big, but a feisty guy. Great skater and uses that well on the defensive end. Actually a great puck handler but hasn’t yet learned how to use that to create offense.
-
I disagree with a lot of this. -Tavares was better than Matthews last season. -Eichel is a better skater and, more importantly to me, a much much better puck carrier. -Is it even relevant that Matthews’ 2-way game could “catch up”? It could, but it’s just not. -Barkov is an incredible player. One of the best (top 5?) defensive forwards in the league and a 90+ point player. He is up there with anyone not named McDavid. I think the only areas Matthews is better than Eichel is as a goal scorer (even now) and FO’s. However, scoring goals is pretty important.

Don't look now but the Sabres have gotten points in 9 of the last 10 games
Curt replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
1) Drafts take much longer to bear fruit in the NHL. 2) It is much easier to move players and contracts in the NFL. 3) The Sabres were purposefully torn down to the studs in a way that the Bills never were (I think) 4) Crowd Yells: “Quit making excuses for the Sabres! They just suck!” ALSO: Bills posted one winning record in a 14 yr period from 2000-2013. They went 17 years between playoff appearances. They haven’t won a playoff game in 23 years. Did they really turn things around that quickly??? -
EDIT Bogosian Requests Trade, Now EROD wants One As Well
Curt replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Marleau had one season left. Not really “a lot” of term. -
Casey’s contract, like all ELCs, is 2-ways. Casey makes $70,000 per season in the AHL compared to his $925,000 in the NHL.
-
Yes, I agree. Over the past month he hasn’t been elite.
-
Why not? What has he gotten worse at?
-
Yes, absolutely, if it’s a good trade.

Last 6 seasons games played: 80, 77, 80, 75, 82, 79. He missed ~10 early this year, but he doesn’t have an injury problem. Last 6 seasons points: 104, 84, 85, 89, 89, 100 Last 6 seasons Selke voting finish: 18th, 19th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 4th After McDavid it’s tight but I think Crosby is still right there with MacKinnon and almost certainly ahead of Eichel. Matthews is not close.
